“Am I that easily recognizable?” Donald Shell asked with a tough smile on his lips.

“You have been hanging around my stepsister lately,” I grumbled.

Donald scoffed. “Just sit down,” he ordered me.

I listened to him and sat down, the same time that the detective also took his seat.

“Did anyone see you both come in?” Donald asked the detective.

“No one,” Detective Kent responded, making Donald relaxed.

I didn’t realize that Detective Kent and Donald Shell knew each other, so after recognizing Donald, then settled in the confusion.

Then I turned to the detective and asked, “You two know each other?”

Donald Shell scoffed again. “I heard that you ask too many dumb questions, and barely five minutes here you are already proving that it is true,” Donald sneered. “Isn’t it obvious?” He asked rhetorically.

He was mean and rude, and I wondered what Alexa was doing around him.

The Alexa I knew and grew up with was too soft to be with a man like Donald who didn’t know the right way to speak t

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Not A Friend Or Family

MARKI spent about an extra hour on the phone with Mr. Porshia as we tried to catch up on all the lost years. We couldn’t, of course, so we had had to come to an agreement, one that was more important right now.“You know that I am doing this for you,” Mr. Porshia told me over the phone. “I wouldn’t have bent over backwards for anyone at all,” he repeated.“And you will not regret it,” I assured him.“Good, so that after this, I can now go on an official break without interruptions,” Mr. Porshia said. “When a man has spent all his life working his ass out just to be successful, he tends to lean towards rest more often as he grows older,” he added.I smiled and ended the call. One day, maybe I might consider living just like Mr. Porshia; a life of fulfillment where I could take breaks without having to worry about my company because I had set everything in place, and just like the old man, I would also love to do it with my wife.A woman I was madly in love with and whom we had been ab

ALEXAI hurried to the hospital as though my life depended on it. Never had I wished that I could fly than moment like this.Noelle followed closely behind.“Where is my dad?” I asked the hospital receptionist whom I believed must have made the call.“He is in ward 456,” she told me. “The suite on the highest floor,” she added. “Use the elevator if you want to go any faster,” she advised me.“Thanks!” I said and hurried to the elevator.Noelle helped me in clicking the top floor because my hands were shaky, and soon enough, the elevator was taking us upward.“Can this thing go any faster?” I asked no one in particular. My breath was shaking and my lips were trembling.“Please, Alexa, can you calm down a little bit?” Noelle said softly, trying to calm me down.“What if something tragic has happened to him?” I asked Noelle as tears gathered in my eyes. “He has never been this sick. This is the first time I am ever getting a call to come and get him, Noelle,” I added sullenly.“We have to

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   An Unforgettable Name

MARKMr. Porshia had laughed.“You must really think I am either a child or stupid,” Mr. Porshia had said. “Looking at you, I can tell that you are not older than twenty-eight, at most, and I am in my forties,” he had told me. “What makes you think you can outsmart a man like me?” He had asked me.Then I had placed my school ID on the table, in front of him.“Mr. Porshia, you and I know that in business, age is just a number,” I had said.Mr. Porshia had looked at my ID card for a few seconds and tossed it to me.“And you think I should be listening to a kid in business school who is only in his second year?” Mr. Porshia had asked.“Before I came down here, I have been working side by side with my dad since I graduated from college. He only sent me here to sharpen what I have learnt from him,” I had said, sitting up straighter. “I know you don’t know my dad’s company because you don’t live in Paris, but you can check it out for yourself,” I had said. Then without waiting for him to d

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Old Friend

MARKI forgot about my conversation with Mr. Devon and continued with work because it wasn’t relevant to me. I didn’t even take it as a threat because Mr. Devon had no right to throw threats around. Besides, he was just a toothless bulldog.Until I was done with fixing everything I needed to fix in my company, and of course, got report from Brent on his secret investigation, only then would I decide on what to do with Mr. Devon. Then I remembered the call I promised Alexa I would make during our last meeting. I took my phone and quickly dialed his number. I wouldn’t dare forget anything about her again. The call connected almost immediately.“This is Mr. Porshia’s office,” the voice of his personal assistant answered. “Good day to you,” I said into the phone.“Mr. Porshia is taking a break right now,” she said. “Could you tell me your name and leave a message?” She requested professionally.“I want to speak with him directly,” I told her. This wasn’t about leaving a message, and sinc

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Letting Her Know

ALEXA“How many more of this design do we have left?” I asked my secretary.“About four of them,” she answered, holding her tab.“That means we are running out fast, aren’t we?” I asked her.“Yes, Miss Alexa,” she answered.“We will need more of it, so include it in our next purchase,” I told her.“Yes, ma’am,” she answered. Then I went ahead to continue checking out all that we had in the showroom. It was important that I did this regularly so that we wouldn’t run out of stock. However, I wasn’t supposed to do the checking up today, but I wanted to occupy my hands and mind with something so that I wouldn’t think about the conversation I had with Donald Shell in his car, and the little squeeze he gave me in his car.It wasn’t very painful, but I still couldn’t get over it.There was just something about it that made me feel unsafe, as though a man had been violent with me. I was married to Mark for five years, and although he didn’t love me or show me any form of care, he was never c

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Strong Confidence

MARKLeaving Alexa hadn’t been my desire, but I didn’t have much choice because this was business, and my company was still a priority.I spent the next couple of hours speaking to the client in my office as we deliberated on a lot of things, especially the new project we will be embarking on together. By the time he left my office, we had made final arrangements on when and how to move forward with the project. This was a big contract for my company, and I intended to leverage on it to get many bigger contracts. The moment he left, Mr. Devon walked into my office.“You could have knocked, Mr. Devon,” I immediately told him. “I don’t appreciate walking into my office just like that,” I said.Mr. Devon looked stunned and hurt at the same time. The last time we spoke was when I had tried to ask him some questions, but he hadn’t been able to answer to anyone of them.“I apologize,” Mr. Devon said. Then he went back out, shut the door gently, and knocked properly. I was a little surprise
