“So, if you saw Tanya and Zavir together, would you be able to tell for sure if they’re true mates?” — the thought suddenly struck me, and I looked at my friend with immense hope.

“Yes, I’d be able to tell for sure. Although I’m already certain that our beta wasn’t lying,” our oracle replied, giving me a reproachful look.

“I understand, but I’m still very worried about my little sister and I’d really like to be absolutely sure,” I said, gazing at my friends with sadness. “No matter how hard I try, my past experience makes me overly protective.”

“There are some things I’m not allowed to say directly,” Lena responded, “but if someone were to ask leading questions, I wouldn’t be able to stay silent. Does anyone else have any questions about true mates?” Lena asked, but for some reason, her eyes lingered expectantly on me.

“You’ll tell me about my sister and the beta though, right?” I asked, just to be sure.

“I will. Any more questions?” she repeated, once again looking straight at m

Wayland surprised me again when he stood up, extended a hand, and helped me into my seat like an absolute gentleman. “You look stunning,” he said smoothly, his lips curling into a small smirk. My eyes nearly popped out of my head. Was that… a compliment? Did pigs just learn to fly? “T-thank you,” I mumbled, completely thrown off. This had to be a tactic. Maybe he wanted to catch me off guard, make me nervous, sabotage my presentation, and then laugh at my failure. Well, not on my watch. “I don’t understand why we had to meet under these conditions,” I said, waving my hand around the room with a hint of irritation. “We could have discussed everything at your office without all this fancy setup.” The Alpha looked at me, and I caught a mischievous glint in his eyes. That smile suited him perfectly. God, those lips were so beautiful... Oh no, not again! Damn mark! “Well, my office doesn’t serve food as good as this,” his velvety voice drifted into my ears. “I took the liberty o

By the agreed time, I was dressed and ready. Of course, a single day wasn’t nearly enough to prepare a proper report and outline every detail of the curriculum, but I’d managed to do a solid job. With the Alpha’s approval of the project, I could refine the rest along the way. I ended up wearing the dress. Tanya was right—this wasn’t the time to provoke a werewolf, nor did I want to tangle with him unnecessarily. So in this case, I let him win. Besides, the dress truly was exquisite—elegant, refined, and undeniably stunning. A rich plum color, it fell just below my knees, hugging my figure in all the right ways without restricting my movements. The top featured a V-neckline with thick straps that crossed over my shoulders and dipped into a half-open back. The design framed my chest in such a way that it left just enough to the imagination—perhaps exactly what he intended? I styled my hair in a loose updo, letting a few soft curls frame my face. The scars from the marking had faded

  • Too Human To Be His   77 The First Kiss...

“Oh, I see… So while I’m still a child, you’ll calmly go to fuck others, and I’m supposed to watch this and happily grow up for you?! Isn’t that a bit selfish?!” A wave of indignation presses down on me so strongly that I can’t hold back my anger and the tears welling up. My feelings are tearing me apart, each one stronger than the last. “Fine! Then I’ll just calmly date guys during this time! You know, gain experience… for you, darling!” I spit at him angrily, completely overwhelmed by outrage and hurt. “Don’t play with me, girl,” the werewolf growls lowly, suddenly too close, grabbing me by the waist. “No guys!” Tears of hurt roll down my cheeks. The injustice suffocates me with its claws, not letting me breathe. “I already have a boyfriend,” I say, my voice trembling but firm. “He’s kind and caring, and would never betray me. He deserves to share with me my first kiss, my first warm feelings. And what do you offer me?” I ask painfully, looking into his eyes. “You promise me, ‘Ev

  • Too Human To Be His   76 The First Kiss

Tanya Velichko: The sudden intensity of the situation made me not immediately understand what Zavir had said. So many emotions were swirling inside me at that moment that it was hard to pinpoint exactly what I was feeling. I was excited because someone had asked me to be their girlfriend, and I said yes. There was the thrill and fear of a first kiss. And there was also some joy and confusion when I saw Zavir — it meant he remembered and had come. But then a complete shock and disbelief hit me as the meaning of his words slowly sank in. “What?” I barely managed to squeeze out, staring wide-eyed at the werewolf. But he didn’t hear me anymore. His gaze was fixed on Pasha’s hand, which was still holding me tightly in an embrace. I missed the moment when, with a growl, he ripped me from Pasha’s arms, and the world flipped upside down. Before my eyes flashed the snowy sidewalk and Zavir’s strong, imposing back. He basically threw me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and starte

  • Too Human To Be His   75 Tanya's Birthday ...

I don’t know how it happened that I fell for a werewolf so much older than me. The first time we met, he really scared me with his piercing eyes and the way he openly stared. The red-haired man with dark brown eyes made me feel a thrill and a kind of anxiety, almost panic, that made me want to run away without looking back. But everything changed on New Year’s. He and my sister invited me to join everyone else at the ice rink. Honestly, I’m not very good at skating, but I really wanted to prove that I could do it well. So, as soon as I stepped onto the ice, I almost tumbled head over heels right in front of the skating crowd. Zavir caught me skillfully, holding me close, and at that moment, I forgot how to breathe. He was so near that I could feel his incredible scent—the very perfume I had fallen in love with from the first breath. We stood silently for several seconds, looking intently at each other, and I saw his eyes—mesmerizing, slowly turning golden. The man was outrageo

  • Too Human To Be His   74 Tanya's Birthday

Tanya Velichko: Today I turned sixteen. The age when you finally get your passport. A milestone in any teenager’s life, marking another step toward adulthood. Since early morning, my phone has been buzzing nonstop—calls, messages, well-wishes. So many people remembered—my sister, friends, classmates both past and present, kids I tutor, my sister’s friends… even a few of my teachers. But not him. Not Zavir. We once talked casually about holidays and birthdays, and it just sort of came up—we told each other our dates, without much fanfare. So did he really forget? Or… maybe he never remembered it at all. Maybe he just asked out of politeness. Maybe it meant nothing to him. Why would it? He’s a busy werewolf, an important one at that—he has duties, responsibilities, a girlfriend... And then there’s me. Just a girl… hoping he’d remember my birthday. Still, I’m just a naive fool. Sure, my mind knew he was a grown, successful man—and I was just a kid—but deep down, some hope st
