Margaret’s words directly stunned both men. But she only offered Nathaniel a gentle apology before raising her brows and fixing her gaze on the man beside him.

A handsome face, deep-set eyes, a sharp, high nose bridge, and a figure no less perfect than the male models she often saw in magazines.

For someone who appreciated beauty as much as Margaret did, she could look at him all day without growing tired.

“Hey, can I have your I*******m? We can follow each other.”

Margaret smiled sweetly as she winked, but the man did not respond. He stared at her for a moment before the corner of his lips curled into a faint smile.

“Girl, don’t you think this is a bit rude?”

“My friend was trying to hit on you. You turned him down, and now you want to flirt with me?”

“Does that seem reasonable?”

Faced with his questioning, Margaret merely smiled lightly and blinked.

“So what? I said it before, your friend isn’t my type, but you are.”

“What’s wrong with pursuing love?”

She spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world, her harmless expression leaving him momentarily speechless.

“...”

“So, can I follow you now? What’s your I*******m?”

Margaret excitedly took out her phone from her bag, but the man had already turned and walked away.

“Hey, if not, can you at least tell me your name? Hey...”

Margaret called after him, but he walked quickly, as if he hadn’t heard her at all. Meanwhile, Nathaniel, still sitting there, remained stunned.

“How about you give me your friend’s I*******m?”

“You are his friend, so you should know, right?”

Margaret’s eyes sparkled again as she looked at Nathaniel, but he avoided her gaze.

“I’m so sorry, but I can’t give you that. If I do it on my own, he’ll get angry.”

“But since you’re beautiful, I can make an exception and tell you his name, Arthur Bennett.”

Nathaniel said kindly, then quickly stood up and left. Margaret let out a soft exclamation, pretending as if she had only just learned Arthur’s name.

She called out a thank you to Nathaniel, then let out a soft laugh.

Although she hadn’t fully achieved her goal, she had at least made a first impression.

...

After returning home, Margaret finally paid attention to the messages and calls that had been noisily bothering her all night.

The first was from Henry, who was going crazy, questioning why she had forced Rose to kiss Jonathan, pushing her to the point of tears and despair. The messages came in waves, each one harsher than the last.

He even went so far as to demand that Margaret apologize to Rose and beg for her forgiveness, otherwise, their engagement party would be called off.

After reading them, Margaret let out a cold laugh.

Beg Rose for forgiveness? In the next life.

And Henry wanted to call off the engagement? She couldn’t wish for it more!

Still, would his parents really allow him to act so recklessly? Of course not.

They were counting on the engagement party between her and Henry to elevate their status in high society.

The second sender, of course, was Rose, but her messages were far more “interesting.”

“Margaret, you bitch, do you think this will force me to leave Henry? No way!”

“Let me tell you, so what if you’re his fiancée? Tonight, Henry has been with me the whole time, comforting me, not leaving my side for even a second.”

“Tonight, we’re even sleeping together. The one he loves, from beginning to end, has only ever been me.”

Attached were numerous intimate photos of Rose and Henry, from Henry holding Rose in his arms to the two of them lying together on a bed.

With the evidence handed to her so directly, Margaret merely let out a soft laugh and saved them. Later on, things would only become more interesting.

Of course, she played along, replying in the role of a woman madly in love with Henry.

“Don’t think a few photoshopped pictures of yours can fool me.”

“Henry already said that we’ll get married. No matter what, I’ll be his lawful wife.”

“As for you, even if you have his body, you’re nothing more than a mistress.”

She texted:

“We’re getting engaged next week. If you know what’s good for you, stay away from him, better yet, disappear from his world entirely.”

The message carried both heartbreak and threat. Margaret could easily imagine the vivid expression on Rose’s face when she read it.

And very soon.

Buzz.

A new message notification rang.

“Bitch, don’t get smug too soon.”

“The engagement won’t go smoothly. I’ll show you just how much Henry loves me.”

Margaret burst into a beautiful laugh, not replying, only lazily reclining on the bed.

She was very much looking forward to it.

...

Time passed in the blink of an eye, and at last, the day of Margaret and Henry’s engagement arrived. Margaret appeared early, obediently changing into a gorgeous white gown and sitting still as the makeup artist worked on her hair and makeup.

“Margaret, you’re not just saying that to put me at ease, right?”

“You’re really going to get engaged to that bastard Henry? No matter what, don’t ruin your own reputation because of that jerk!”

Cole paced back and forth nonstop, muttering his attempts to persuade her. Margaret merely glanced at him lazily and replied calmly,

“Come on, Cole, relax. The engagement won’t go smoothly.”

“When I say I don’t love Henry anymore, I mean it. I have no feelings left for him.”

“Don’t worry. Today, I’ll make sure he loses all his face in high society.”

Just as Margaret finished speaking, the notification sound of a message rang out.

It was from Rose.

“Margaret, do you know where I am right now? In Henry’s bed.”

“Didn’t expect that, did you? Even though he’s about to get engaged to you, Henry and I are still tangled together in the groom’s room.”

“It’s not too late to regret it and walk away from the ceremony!”

After reading it, the smile on Margaret’s lips deepened. She waved her phone lightly at Cole, then slowly stood up as the makeup artist finished her look.

“Come on, Cole. I’ll show you a masterpiece.”

At last, after a long silence, she nervously bit her lip again.“Chris, what if... what if I told you...”Her voice grew softer and softer, while her hands hanging at her sides gradually clenched into fists.“What if I told you that the butler of Sebastian Manor, Evander, looks exactly like the man who met Eric in private before?”“I also vaguely heard them talking about an illegitimate child named Nikolai...”Margaret had only caught fragments of that conversation. She had no idea who Nikolai was, so she assumed Eric and that man had merely been discussing someone unimportant. But if that man really was Evander, then everything would be different. There w

My men have already captured him and his accomplices.”“They’re interrogating them right now. “You bastard, stop it! Let me go!”Margaret desperately shoved at Henry, but her strength did not move him in the slightest. Instead, an even harder slap landed directly across her face.“Shut up, bitch!”“Serve me properly, or don’t blame me for being cruel.”Henry sneered as he lowered his head again, pressing a forceful kiss against her collarbone, leaving a vivid red mark on her fair skin. Margaret clenched her fists so tightly that the veins stood out beneath her skin, but no matter how she struggled, she could not break free.“Give me a kiss, bitch!”Henry seized Margaret’s chin, gripping it so tightly that she could not move.
