LOGINLeaving the bar, Margaret took out her phone and quickly called her best friend.
“Emily, want to go to a bar? Didn’t you say a big new one just opened in the city center?”
Calmly settling into the car, Margaret’s voice carried a hint of excitement. Emily, however, sounded utterly surprised.
“What are you saying? Go to a bar?”
“Margaret, it’s been six years since I last heard you say those words!”
“Ever since you fell for that damn Henry, he’s restricted you in every way."
"You even changed yourself into a gentle, well-behaved girl for him, like you were hypnotized...”
Hearing Emily’s complaints, the corners of Margaret’s lips curved into a smile.
“Come on, girl. So, are you going or not?”
“I will be home now.”
Emily let out an excited cheer.
“Of course, girl.”
“Put on the sexiest dress in your closet. I’ll come pick you up in an hour.”
After hanging up, Margaret’s lips curled into a faint smile. Just then, her private driver pulled into Rosewood Manor.
Back in her room, Margaret removed her makeup, wiping away the soft, gentle look from her face and replacing it with the bold, alluring style she loved. Dark eyeshadow, striking red lipstick, and a beautiful blush in the same vivid shade.
Then, slipping out of the modest dress she had been wearing, she put on a black lace spaghetti-strap dress she had long hidden at the back of her closet.
The dress barely covered her thighs, revealing her long, fair legs with every step she took.
Its fitted design traced every curve of her beautiful figure.
Satisfied as she looked at herself in the mirror, Margaret smiled faintly and headed downstairs. Emily’s car pulled up just in time in front of her.
“Girl, this is how you’re supposed to look, beautiful and alluring, like a rose.”
Emily whistled in admiration as the car sped down the road.
“So what snapped you out of it all of a sudden?"
"Did you finally break up with that damn bastard?”
As for Henry, Emily had always despised and looked down on him. She had long warned Margaret that he was a hypocritical and unfaithful man, constantly urging her to leave him.
But in the past, blinded by love, Margaret had never listened.
“Not yet, but soon.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not as foolish as I used to be. That bastard Henry cheated on me. I’ll make him pay a hundredfold.”
Emily wasn’t too surprised to hear that.
“I told you, dearie. That bastard looked like a playboy from the start, only good at spouting sweet lies to deceive people.”
“Good thing you’ve come to your senses. Tonight, I’ve called in twenty male models for you, every single one of them better-looking than that bastard Henry.”
Emily winked playfully, but Margaret only let out a soft laugh.
“No, dearie. I have other plans tonight.”
“How about dancing on the floor outside the bar? That stage is huge, losing yourself in the music doesn’t sound like a bad idea.”
Margaret smacked her lips lightly in satisfaction, and Emily quickly agreed.
As they stepped into the bar, their stunning appearance quickly drew attention from all around. Dressed in sexy black dresses that accentuated their curves, each of them carried a different kind of beauty, attracting quite a few people who came over to strike up conversations.
Emily soon followed a young blond man on I*******m, while Margaret winked at her before walking away, giving her space to flirt freely.
Moving to the beat of the loud music, Margaret swayed gracefully as she made her way to the center of the large dance floor. Several handsome men immediately gathered around her, dancing alongside her, their eyes fixed on her without wavering.
Margaret danced with them happily, not forgetting to glance up at the balcony above. When she saw the two men standing there, also looking in her direction, the corners of her lips curved into a smug smile.
The ones she needed had arrived.
To the rhythm of the music, Margaret casually draped herself over the shoulder of a man in a black shirt beside her. He immediately responded, wrapping an arm around her waist in an intimate manner. As their breaths drew close, she heard him whisper,
“Honey, you’re so beautiful. May I have the honor of buying you a drink later?”
Margaret let out a soft laugh and nodded.
After growing slightly tired, she gracefully took that man’s hand and led him outside. He seemed completely captivated by her, his gaze fixed on her without blinking.
“Honey, has anyone ever told you that you’re as beautiful as a princess?”
“I think I fell in love with you at first sight.”
The pickup line was cliché, but Margaret still accepted the drink from the man with a pleasant smile, clinking glasses with him. After exchanging a few more words, she deftly suggested he return to the dance floor, then sat alone, sipping her drink.
“Beautiful lady, may I have the honor of buying you a drink?”
A low, husky voice sounded, making Margaret tilt her head. The corners of her lips curved into a faint smile. Her goal had finally been achieved.
“Of course, yes.”
She smiled sweetly, looking gently at the man as she took the drink from his hand and casually took a sip. He and the person beside him naturally took seats next to her.
“May I get to know you, darling? I’m Nathaniel Ross, the owner of this bar.”
“I’ve been watching you for quite some time. You’re beautiful, alluring, and excellent at dancing.”
He praised her sincerely, deepening Margaret’s smile. She extended her hand toward him and gave a playful wink.
“I’m Margaret Walker, pleased to meet you.”
He was momentarily stunned before taking her soft hand.
“What do you think of me?”
“What if I said I’ve fallen in love with you at first sight and want us to go on a date?”
The man spoke directly, but Margaret did not appear surprised. Outwardly, she maintained her graceful smile, feigning mild astonishment before raising an eyebrow.
“Is that so?”
“Actually, you’re very handsome and gentle... but not my type.”
She shrugged, then cast a glance toward the man sitting beside him, the one who had remained silent the entire time.
“And maybe... your friend is more my type. He interests me more.”
“What is it, darling?”“Did something happen?”Seeing the unusual expression on Margaret’s face, Christopher could already sense that something was wrong. He gently rubbed her back and pressed for an answer, his voice growing noticeably anxious.Margaret bit her lip, her gaze shifting as though she were carefully choosing her words. At last, after a long silence, she nervously bit her lip again.“Chris, what if... what if I told you...”Her voice grew softer and softer, while her hands hanging at her sides gradually clenched into fists.“What if I told you that the butler of Sebastian Manor, Evander, looks exactly like the man who met Eric in private before?”“I also vaguely heard them talking about an illegitimate child named Nikolai...”Margaret had only caught fragments of that conversation. She had no idea who Nikolai was, so she assumed Eric and that man had merely been discussing someone unimportant. But if that man really was Evander, then everything would be different. There w
Margaret was drinking water when she heard his words and nearly choked. She coughed so hard that the corners of her eyes turned red.She glared angrily at Christopher across from her, her voice dripping with sarcasm.“The doctor said that? Stop lying, Christopher.”“I may be injured, but I still have enough strength to punch you.”“Do you want to apply the medicine properly, or do you want me to punch you first and then apply it after?”Margaret raised her hand and shook her fist at Christopher in warning.Christopher let out a husky laugh and placed the box of medicine on the bedside cabinet. Then he sat down on the bed and reached out to pull Margaret into his arms.“Alright, darling. I’m just kidding.”“Let me apply the medicine for you, okay?”The warmth of his breath brushing against Margaret’s face made her feel unexpectedly comfortable. Only then did she nod in satisfaction.Leaning against Christopher, she lazily extended her arm toward him.Her fair hands, marked with numerou
The events that followed passed in a blur for Margaret.Christopher helped her into the car and draped his warm suit jacket over her shoulders, shielding her body. The unease that had gripped her heart finally began to settle with every word of comfort he offered.“Chris, about Eric...”The thought of the mastermind suddenly crossed her mind, and a trace of apprehension flickered in her eyes.Christopher gently stroked her hair, reassuring her.“Don’t worry. My men have already captured him and his accomplices.”“They’re interrogating them right now. It won’t be long before we learn the truth.”Christopher’s voice suddenly turned cold.“But why would you come up with something this dangerous?”“What if I hadn’t arrived in time? What if something terrible had happened?”Christopher looked directly into Margaret’s eyes, his expression full of stern disapproval, making her avert her gaze awkwardly.“Because I saw Eric and didn’t want to lose track of him.”“Besides, I thought he simply w
“You bastard, stop it! Let me go!”Margaret desperately shoved at Henry, but her strength did not move him in the slightest. Instead, an even harder slap landed directly across her face.“Shut up, bitch!”“Serve me properly, or don’t blame me for being cruel.”Henry sneered as he lowered his head again, pressing a forceful kiss against her collarbone, leaving a vivid red mark on her fair skin. Margaret clenched her fists so tightly that the veins stood out beneath her skin, but no matter how she struggled, she could not break free.“Give me a kiss, bitch!”Henry seized Margaret’s chin, gripping it so tightly that she could not move. When he saw her stubbornly keeping her lips pressed together, his gaze turned cold.He forcefully pried her jaw open, forcing her lips apart, then leaned down.Just as his lips were about to touch Margaret’s, the door was suddenly kicked open. While Henry was still frozen in shock and had not yet reacted, Margaret swiftly raised her leg and kicked him hard
“Why are you acting like a stranger when you see me? Not even saying a word, Margaret?”“Cat got your tongue?”The man calmly walked over to Margaret and lowered his head, looking at her with a mocking smile. Margaret’s lips trembled, but no words came out. Everything she wanted to say seemed lodged in her throat.“Why are you here, Henry?”She spoke his name in panic. At her words, a hoarse laugh escaped Henry’s lips. He raised an eyebrow.“Where I am is my business. I came to see you, are you going to forbid that?”Henry shot back, his voice dripping with sarcasm.Seeing Margaret’s disheveled appearance and the loosened buttons of her blouse, he ran his tongue across his lips. His gaze lingered on the fair skin exposed at her neck.“It’s been a long time, yet you’re still as beautiful as ever.”“Your skin even seems a little fairer than before.”The twisted look in Henry’s eyes made Margaret tremble even more. Even her scalp tingled with dread. After speaking, Henry calmly turned ar
Margaret twisted away in an attempt to avoid him, but failed. When she saw that he intended to undo more buttons, she bent forward and sank her teeth into the hand reaching toward her with all her strength.Successfully leaving behind a deep bite mark.Smack.The slap landed squarely across Margaret’s face, so hard that her ears rang and her mind went blank. Her cheek burned with pain, and the corner of her mouth felt damp, as if the blow had split her lip. A hoarse male voice rang out.“You b*tch, stop it.”“Or deal with the consequences yourself.”The man spoke as he angrily yanked Margaret’s hair. Then he pulled even harder, forcing her to look straight toward the man holding the phone.“Talk to the camera. Beg your f*cking boyfriend to save you. Hurry up!”The cold voice, as though it had come from hell itself, sent a chill through Margaret’s body. She stubbornly pressed her lips together in defiance, only to be struck by another thunderous slap. Her cheek hurt so badly that even
