“Goodnight, Mom!” Nico giggled.

Lucia held back her tears and said softly,

“Alright. Goodnight.”

She waited until the children were fast asleep before quietly ending the video call.

She missed them terribly. But as much as she had every right to be angry with Leonardo, she knew she had no standing to compete with Lorenza.

What she didn’t know was that, just outside the children’s room, Leonardo had been standing there the entire time.

The hallway was quiet so late at night, and the children’s voices carried clearly.
