Thither, my eyes dilated with aggressive aghast whilst, on the other side, my heart throbbed in my ears — so loud and irregular.
There I stood with legs that were slowly becoming numb. I felt an awful rising in my chest that hindered my breathing — my chest heaved heavily as I looked into space. Bit by bit, beats of sweat were gathering on my forehead as I frowned at the heaviness in my head.
It was peculiar — I suddenly felt like smiling every now and then without a comprehensible reason. He was close, Alpha Xenos was close to reaching me, how I wished to shrink into nothingness. It was ominously hushed in the room, only his movements made obvious sounds that broke into my heart.
"Oh, how enchanting you are!" Alpha Xenos aired as soon as he had halted just a breath away from me. Unintentionally, I inhaled his pungent smell that sharply travelled down to my oesophagus, nauseating me instantly. His warm breath shamelessly kissed my cheeks immediately after I had closed my eyes in disgust. I could see him — he was wearing nothing but a silky bathrobe, the same colour as the dress I wore — white.
It was out of the blue that my vision became blurry — everything I saw was double, including Alpha Xenos's treacherous smile. "Come on, dear!" He aired and I quickly felt his hand rest on my shoulder, before trailing down to my arm as he pulled me towards the bed.
"W-what…! No…!" I spoke inarticulately. My lips were suddenly numb and too heavy for me to lift. The alpha put me on the bed, making me lie with my hands spread across the bed. I felt it — my vision was on the edge of blackening out, but why all of a sudden?
"The…candles!" I thought whilst closing my eyes only for a moment that would help me gather my thoughts and energy that was slowly running out. Breathing as heavily, I reopened my eyes that were overwhelmed by tears and caught Alpha Xenos who was wearing a quivering smile, stopped only a second away from my naked feet. He was just standing there ogling at me — how dare he?!
His eyes were twinkling happily with ecstasy, as he slowly climbed the bed that abruptly released a pitiful squeal. I swiftly closed my eyes again, my heart was still pounding heavily against my chest and this time, I had lost track of its sharp, quick beats. A sharp pain quickly punctured through the walls of my heart, slightly breaking it apart.
The old man was breathing heavily as if he had been running — hoarsely just like those many past days I first laid my eyes on him. "Open your eyes, dear Ophelia! You shouldn't be afraid." Softly as he could, the alpha urged. Again, he called my name, my real name — he has never done something like that or was it because of…the ceremony? Is it that he has to call my name for everything to take place?
Those were the questions I had asked myself and without hesitation, I opened my eyes to meet his piercing blue eyes, almost white, staring deeply into my eyes with newfound pleasure. "Ophelia!" I called out my name in a whisper shortly after a frown had boldly stood up across my forehead.
I was nauseated — it was disgusting to hear my name escape from his mouth and how evilly it echoed in my head. There, he laid his weight on my tiny body and without shame, the werewolf wore a dangling smile that exposed his unsteady, yellow teeth, albeit rotten. This was the hour everyone was talking about — an hour that was meant for me and the alpha to conceive a baby; an alpha I did not love even a bit.
So far, I had been praying for a miracle that'd stop him from doing anything to me — I was scared as I quietly witnessed my chest heave with hopelessness while nervously staring at Alpha Xenos caressing my face with his pale eyes that were almost teary with thrill. A long, rough finger slowly glided over my face — from my sweating forehead to my cheeks that burnt with agony.
"This is…why they had cheaply…sold me to him. I worthed nothing but only five dollars to them — They sold my life away without my permission…!" I silently cried as soon as Alpha Xenos began to paste his dirty, broken kisses on my neck that I had exposed to him by turning my face on the other side — away so I did not have to meet his eyes. He boldly and shamelessly covered every part of my neck with his kisses as if I was just a candy — a cheap one, of course.
Closing my eyes deeper and tighter, my trembling hands swiftly and roughly clenched the bedsheets. There quickly was a bitter taste in the back of my mouth — Beat by beat, Alpha Xenos's hands began exploring my breasts and off, they trailed on my stomach while he continued to glue his kisses on my cheeks, this time.
A muffled whimper escaped from my mouth when I felt his hand slowly slip under the dress and stop on my thigh — I knew he felt it was shaking uncontrollably.
"This…is a beautiful gift. A colourful night that is meant to be carefully taken care of and celebrated." Soon when he stopped pasting his kisses on my skin that was now overwhelmed by goosebumps, Alpha Xenos mercilessly chuckled, having this moment to look at me again but I was not looking back. My eyes were shut tight in fear of looking back into his eyes. I could smell his rotten breath all over my skin — it was sickening.
Small ragged gasps were escaping my throat a second I felt him take off the bathrobe, swiftly summoning piercing pains that spread everywhere else in my system. I could not feel my hands or legs, I was pinned on the bed with no escape route and my vision was playing games with me.
I kept seeing double and I knew that sooner or later, my vision would blacken out. "No…! I need to stay…awake! A miracle! Anything plea…!" I barely finished my sentence when I heard a deafening loud booming sound that came with the effect of making everything shake vehemently.
A loud, intimidating pang suddenly vibrated in the chambers of my ears. My eyes darted from one place to the other and all that I could see was smoke hissing from everywhere. My body suddenly felt light — Alpha Xenos was nowhere near me. There on my right, I spotted him as he tried to get his naked body up and surprisingly, I remained paralyzed on the bed.
Everything around me was shaking and hopelessly breaking into thousands of pieces. "We are under attack!" A familiar voice vibrated somewhere from a distance and that was everything I saw and heard before my vision blackened out — finally.
OPHELIA FOLKS[SAME NIGHT]“What a breathtaking place.” Whispered words ran out of my lips as I witnessed a pulsating, colourful blanket of stars stretching across and beyond the night sky. The moon, confident and majestic, stood in the middle, its bright silvery light illuminating the extravagant beast of a palace, and the many tall trees that acted as guard, not a very effective one. Birds had flown back into their nests, and now people, who were once busy during the day, I reckon, were now following in suit. Shyly, I stood as a witness, leaning against the slightly dressed window of my bedchamber. Yes, my bedchamber. I had mentally taken the decision to keep this as my bedchamber an hour ago after Miss Eliot offered. I felt my heart leap as I dwelled on that thought, unsure if it was excitement or fear. “Let us hope tomorrow brings a new leaf into my life.” Quietly, I prayed, placing my hands on my chest, right where my heart was wildly dancing. This cannot be like the Fridolf
OPHELIA FOLKSThe food stuffed in my mouth no longer tasted sweet and succulent, but bitter and dry. There, frozen on the same spot, I dared not turn around where the question was exhaled from. I stood still and forgot to blink while my heart decided to jingle against the chambers of my chest. Now sweaty, my hands trembled, making the food they held feel extremely heavy. One by one, the fruits began slipping off my fingers, eager to feel the hard surface beneath my feet. Words showed a new pair of heels, and off, they played hide and seek in the back of my throat, and now, only a lump wanted to come out. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE!?”The unknown person interrogated, his voice shamelessly making my hair on the nape of my neck stand and shiver with fright. “It is the same voice that woke me from my sleep earlier, I am sure of it.” I mentally analysed, now trying to swallow a chewed ball of food, awaiting to be pushed down my throat. Timidly, I turned towards the angry voice and was swif
[Author’s voice]The rising sun’s beams gently landed on Ophelia’s ashen face as she slept, ridiculously lost in a nightmare-less world of wonderland. Enjoying the warmth and the sleep she had never had the luxury to enjoy, her body curled as her fingers grabbed on the blankets as if they were an armour that protected her from all the world’s evil. The unknown old woman sat not far from her, browsing through a book when a police car suddenly screeched to a halt a few feet from the bridge. With a stifled sigh, the old woman closed the book and glared at the police man who had swiftly gotten out of the car, his brows furrowed with disappointment. “Dear?” She leaned towards Ophelia and began shaking her awake from her sleep. “It is time to wake up, love.” The old woman whispered, her acidic voice slowly floating into Ophelia’s ears. The young woman timidly opened her eyes only to be welcomed by the golden rays of the just-risen sun. Taking her time, Ophelia stood up straight and involu
[Author’s Voice] An endless blanket of glistening stars carefully spread across the night sky, illuminating the whole sky with shimmer and wonder. Foreign sounds came from all directions, adding an alien feeling to wash over Ophelia’s body that was already quivering with dread. Her heart, wild and loud, throbbed heavily against her chest each time she released the air of suspense through her chapped lips. The crescent silvery-white moon gently shone brightly, shamelessly exposing every inch of fear as it slowly devoured her figure, prisoning her heart in a dark cage of uneasiness. There on the ground, her naked feet unconsciously rushed, leaving thuds behind as she ran through a narrow dim-lit street. Air left her system each time she took a step forward, running as if her life depended on it. IT DID! As if with a mind of their own, her feet turned, and turned but never stopped. She and her feet knew that stopping would mean being locked up whoever knows where. She had to keep
Thither up, the azure sky stretched wide while a family of clouds lazily drifted in the gentle breeze, unbothered by the easiness creeping in my tightened chest.Clenching my teeth, I drew in a sharp breath, inhaling the strange air that tasted nothing like the one back at home. Home? Where was that again? Do I even have a home? Thoughts jingled and dashed in the back of my head like lightning flashing across a rain-covered sky.My eyes, filled with tears and wonder, darted from one place to the other, not daring to settle on one place. My legs felt rooted to the ground, stiff and heavy, as if demanding to be left alone after a long run in a forest. Shameless, my arms hung uselessly at my sides. Time; a long time had passed since I had walked out of the hospital and stood near the entrance.A man in uniform did come to ask if I was “doing all right”, and my head automatically nodded before I could articulate words out of my lips. The truth was that I was far from “doing all right”. Th
AUTHOR’S VOICE:Right there, Ophelia’s body shivered as if she were a single flame held high. Her mouth fell wide as her tear-filled eyes darted across the faces of the people present. There he was, her mate, standing firmly beside Raven, who was exchanging some whispered words with the unknown elderly man. Mate? His face remained free of emotions, his eyes never looking at Ophelia.“What is g-going on?” She silently asked as soon as her eyes averted to the Fridolf Alpha, whose face was decorated with a weak, decaying smile. Poor him, his health was on the verge of giving way into dust.“Ophelia Folks, you are now the bride of Alpha Xenos!” Raven hissed, her eyes sparkling with delight. She turned to shake hands with Alpha Xenos, who cooly licked his lips as his eyes lingered on Ophelia; it was not her mate.Time froze as the temperature in the atmosphere around Ophelia dropped to a degree that made her whole being tremble with fright. Her eyes widened like the doors of a lifeless hou
