Luther POV

I watched her run into her apartment like a helpless bird, I already felt something for her, and this was happening so fast.

“I’m not sure she wants to be involved in this “ I thought to my self as my mind wandered and opposed the thought.

She was already in it when she got involved with Vicenzo but she just didn’t see that part of him until they broke up.

I drove back to my apartment settled on the couch as I took a pack of backwood cigar and lit it up, enjoying the clouds it released and how calm it was.

“You have a call from an identity sir” one of my men said as I took the call from his hands.

“Good afternoon Luther” a masculine voice spoke on the other end as I calmly listened, I recognized the voice it was Vicenzo, bit nevertheless I pressed on

“Who is on the line”

“It Vicenzo conti”

“Okay….,.” I pressed on him to continue his conversation I had no time to waste on the call

“There is a shipment coming in, and I would need your men helping deal with it”

“70-30”

“80-25” he said trying to negotiate

“70-30” that final I said as I lit my cigar so it continues it burn.

“Okay deal?” He asked

“No Vicenzo, I call the deal, I only allow a victim of 2 which comes with a compensation for the family , if casualties are more than 2 the payment would be 60-40”

“But sir…..”

“No but, call me when you take the offer” I said as I cut the call handing over my phone to the guard.

It was almost nightfall, I was sitting at the varenda bored, I decided to go to the club, perhaps watch people dance , then I choose Eden.

“Drive me to the club Eden” I said to my driver while he took me there.

Eden was alive tonight, bass thrummed beneath my feet the moment I stepped through the private entrance.

Bodies moved like shadows under crimson lights. Laughter mixed with the pulse of music, and the scent of expensive perfume lingered in the air.

But none of it touched me, not really.

I moved through the crowd like a ghost in tailored black. People nodded. Bartenders straightened. Girls stared. No one dared speak.

They knew who I was.

I took the private staircase to the upper level

my table, my view. From here, I could see the entire floor. Every entrance. Every face.

But the only face I wished I saw wasn’t here.

Rose.

My chest ached a little just thinking about her. The way she ran. The way her voice cracked when she said “Take me home.”

She’d looked at me like I was a stranger.

You are, a voice in my head whispered. To her, you are.

And maybe that was true.

I took another drag of my cigar and exhaled slowly, and that’s when I saw it,n ot a face.

A movement.

A certain sway of the hips. Controlled. Calculated. Like someone who knew exactly how many eyes were watching her and didn’t care.

Marylin.

She was across the floor, in black silk and sharp heels, weaving through the crowd like she owned it.

She hadn’t seen me yet, but I watched her with narrowed eyes.

No warning. No contact.
What the hell was she doing here?

Then her head turned.

And our eyes locked.

Just like that.

She didn’t flinch. Didn’t look away.

Instead, she smiled that slow, smug smile she always wore when she had information no one else did.

And then she climbed the stairs.

Unbothered. Uninvited,

Straight to me.

I didn’t move. I didn’t speak.

She reached the last step, heels clicking once on the marble floor, and came to stand at my side, her arms resting lightly on the railing like this was her view too.

“Still brooding in the shadows, I see,” she said, voice smooth as ever.

“I didn’t realize ghosts drank champagne now,” I replied without looking at her.

She chuckled lightly. “Come on, Luther. You missed me.”

“I don’t miss people. I replace them.”

“Then why haven’t you replaced me yet?”

I turned to her then. Slowly.

Her makeup was flawless. Her perfume, the same as it used to be a clean, expensive kind of danger. But beneath it all, there was something different in her eyes.

She wasn’t here to flirt.

She was here with purpose.

“What do you want, Marylin?”

She tapped the railing lightly with her manicured fingers. “I thought it was time we had a conversation.”

“About?”

She leaned in slightly. “Your new toy.”

“She isn’t a toy marlyin” I said back at her my eyes glowing with anger and she could definitely see that but one thing about her was she was headstrong and knew how to mask fear

“Hey, hold”she said mockingly

“Don’t tell me , she is the reason why you are here brooding”

“What do you want Marylin”I said to her again as she sat opposite me placing her hands on mine

“I miss you Luther”

“Wow” I said as I burst into soft laughter.

“I must commend you for this, you did make me have a good laugh”

“We are powerful together and yunno it Luther she pressed on as I sneered without listening to whatever that was she said.

“Vicenzo wants her back” she said as my eyes met hers

“How do you know that????”

“Let’s just say I have friends and I know people, besides I want you back” she said

“Tell her he’s not having her”

“That girl isn’t your level “ she blurted

“Neither are you” I retorted as she looked at me with venom in her eyes , if looks could kill I would really have been buried a long time ago.

“You don’t know what you have gone into Luther, it now you against two people , who told you she even wants you “ she said

“Leave Marylin”

“No”

“Leave” I said with a firm and commanding tone as she picked up her bag to leave in less than ten seconds she was retreating back to me

“I’m sorry I sounded like that, I just really miss you “ she said as I looked at her confused why she became apologetic.

“I wished you loved me this way” she said sounding sad but I wasn’t feeling bad not at all

The next thing I felt her lips on mine dragging me to her with all her strength

“What is going on here” I abruptly stopped as I turned my head to that familiar voice.

It was rose looking at me with so much resentment in her eyes

  • Torn between mafias    Shadows of betrayal

Rose POVThe café lights reflected warmly on the table as I stirred my coffee absentmindedly, a soft smile tugging at my lips. Diana sat across from me, leaning forward with her elbows on the table, watching me closely. I couldn’t hide the way my thoughts kept circling back to Luther—the man who had turned my life upside down in ways I hadn’t expected.“You’re glowing,” Diana teased, narrowing her eyes knowingly. “Don’t even try to deny it. You’ve been thinking about him again.”I laughed softly, though I didn’t deny it. “Maybe I have. I don’t know, Diana… it’s different with him. He makes me feel… alive. Protected.”Her smile faltered, replaced with something colder. “Rose, you need to stop this fantasy before it ruins you. You think Luther is any better than Vicenzo? They’re cut from the same cloth.”Her words cut deep. My smile faded, and I set my spoon down with a quiet clink. “That’s not true. Luther isn’t Vicenzo. Don’t compare them.”Diana leaned back, crossing her arms. “Then

  • Torn between mafias    Raising the stakes

Luther POVThe night air was calm, almost too calm. I sat back on the veranda, the weight of the cigar burning between my fingers, smoke curling lazily into the evening sky. The glass of whiskey beside me glowed faintly under the warm light, the amber liquid swirling every time I lifted it for a sip.Moments like these were rare—moments when I could breathe, when the chaos didn’t come crashing down on me. But I knew better. In this world, peace was nothing but the silence before a storm. And right on cue, my phone vibrated against the wooden table. I glanced at the screen and couldn’t help the smirk that pulled at my lips.Vicenzo Conti.I took the call. “Vicenzo,” I greeted smoothly.“Luther,” his voice was hard, deliberate. He wasn’t in the mood for games. “I’m ready to make my payment. I know you have my shipment… and my men. I want them back.”I leaned forward, resting my elbow on the armrest, savoring his desperation. “Finally. Took you long enough. I was starting to think you’d

  • Torn between mafias    Information

David’s POVThe sound of his footsteps announced him before the door creaked open. My older brother—Vicenzo—stood there, shoulders squared, jaw tight, eyes carrying that restless fire that never seemed to die.“I’m ready,” he said. The words dropped like lead between us.I leaned back in my chair, crossing one leg over the other as if he hadn’t just come demanding truths. My room smelled faintly of tobacco and leather-bound books, my haven, my retreat from his chaos. I let the silence stretch, watching his impatience grow like smoke choking a fire.“Ready?” I echoed at last, a soft smile tugging at my lips. “Ready for what, brother?”He stepped closer, the veins in his neck straining. “I’m ready to know who has the shipment.”Ah. So that was it. His pride had finally bent far enough to seek my help. I folded my hands over my knee, enjoying the moment.“And if I tell you?” I asked lazily. “What then? You’ll rush out there, guns blazing, and end up bleeding for cargo that might already

  • Torn between mafias    Ready

Vicenzo’s POVThe man trembled on his knees, blood still dripping from the half-bandaged wound on his side. His breathing was ragged, but his eyes held a kind of loyalty I hadn’t seen in a while—not the empty loyalty bought with fear, but the kind born of desperation and belonging.“Get him cleaned up,” I said after a long silence, my voice sharp enough that the guards jumped at the order. “He was one of our best men before all this. I don’t want him rotting away like trash. See that he eats. He’ll talk better with strength in his body.”The man looked up at me, surprise flashing across his battered face. “Thank you, Boss,” he whispered, as though those words cost him his last breath.I gave him a curt nod, then added, “And when he’s patched up, bring him to me. Alone. I’ll hear everything.”He was dragged out, and I stood in the silence again, my chest rising and falling with the rage that burned steadily. My mother watched me, swirling the wine in her glass.“You’re being merciful,”

  • Torn between mafias    Confusion

Vicenzo’s POVAfter David left, silence stretched in the room. I leaned back against the desk, my arms folded, and my mother stood across from me, her glass of wine in hand. For a long moment, we just stared at each other. She was the first to break it.“Why is he back?” Alessia’s tone was flat, but beneath it lay the cold steel I knew too well.I rubbed at my jaw. “He claims he has information to exchange for money.”Her laugh was sharp, dry. “Information? And here I thought he wanted nothing to do with our world. He despised our money.”“He said it wasn’t the dirty money he wanted,” I replied, repeating David’s exact words with a bitter taste in my mouth. “He says he only has something to sell. Not to take.”I could see the twist of her mouth, the way her expression soured as though even David’s name was rot. Truth be told, I didn’t like him either. He opposed everything we did, always standing higher than us in his self-righteousness. And somewhere deep down, I knew he secretly enj

  • Torn between mafias    Stubborn son

Alessia’s POVThe murmur of voices drifted faintly down the hallway, threading its way through the heavy silence of the house. I had been pouring myself a glass of wine in the sitting room, but the sound made me pause. Vicenzo’s tone was distinct—deep, controlled, carrying that casual arrogance that came so naturally to him. Yet there was another voice, one that stirred something sharper inside me.I moved quietly, my heels clicking against the marble with deliberate precision. As I drew closer to the study, the voices grew clearer. And then, as if fate itself had turned the knife deeper, I recognized it.David.My eldest. The son who had turned his back on me, on this family, on everything that bound us together. The son who thought himself above the dirt that fed us, above the blood that kept us alive. My lips pressed into a thin line as an old ache, half-buried beneath years of bitterness, surfaced.I opened the door. There he was. My long-lost boy. Not bent to my will the way Vice
