"So, here is the situational update on how things are going in the pack," Nathan said as he sat across from me in the study. Even though I knew I should be listening to this report, especially because I was sure it had updates on our border issues with neighboring packs, I could not help but think about my mate.

It still felt so surreal that Amelia was with me, by my side like I had imagined many times after I met her and recognized her for who she was to me, the other half of my soul.

I remembered how it had felt to lie next to her, my hands on her belly and listen to her speak, her heartbeat strong and steady as she relaxed into me like she could not for one second be away from me. I could understand the feeling.
