Chap 3

Amelia's POV

I was running in the woods, my breaths coming fast as I dreaded looking back because he was chasing me.

My master and prisoner. A beast with the face of a man.

Running as fast as my legs could carry me, I gasped as my legs made a connection with a branch and I fell on my face.

"Thought you could run away from me, Amelia love?" His menacing voice said and I froze, turning around on the ground to see him looking down at me with a sinister smile.

"Tell me, Amelia, how loud do you think you can scream? Let's find out."

And then he grabbed my neck and sank his fangs into my throat.

I screamed and opened my eyes, jumping from the bed.

It had been a dream, I realized as I stared at the four walls of my bedroom and touched my throat which was slick with sweat.

Inhaling deeply, I shuddered because the nightmare had felt so real this time.

I could feel my pulse rising and it felt like Cassius was really there, taunting me.

Looking at the clock, my eyes widened when I saw that it was past dawn.

It was about time that Cassius had his early morning drink.

Rushing into the bathroom, I threw on a dress and followed the aroma of the food coming from the kitchen to find Elizabeth and some of the maids moving around.

"I was about to send someone to find you if you didn't show up in the next five minutes. Good morning." Elizabeth said with an exhausted smile and I nodded, heading straight to the fridge to get a blood bag and turn it into a big glass that had been placed on a tray by another maid.

"You should ask one of the stewards to inform the Master that we need to restock the blood bank from the hospital." I heard Elizabeth say as I headed out of the kitchen, the tray in my hand as the familiar dread of being in his presence washed over me.

When I entered his room and saw that he was not in, my face broke into a relieved smile until I heard the shower running and my smile fell.

Dropping the tray on the bedside table, I stood awkwardly in the room, knowing that I had to wait till he came out.

I closed my eyes briefly, praying and hoping that he would not be in the mood for one of his games or be too busy to want to do anything to me this morning and just let me be.

"Ah, you're here," Cassius said and when I opened my eyes, he grinned mischievously, eyeing me greedily and his gaze told me that my prayers were probably not answered.

He had a towel tied around his waist, his damp black hair dripping to the floor and as his grey eyes watched me look at him, he grinned even wider.

I knew that he understood how good-looking he was.

But not to me.

If he wasn't someone so cruel, or ruthless, then perhaps I might have even thought of him as handsome. But he was nothing but a beast wearing human skin and that was all he would ever be to me, pretty face or not.

I bowed my head in greeting, forcing myself to remain calm as he advanced toward me like a predator on the prowl.

His smile changed from mischievous to almost malicious and I swallowed nervously, taking a step back.

"I brought your morning drink, Master. At room temperature, just the way you like it." I rushed out, trying to derail him from whatever intent he had in mind.

But, Cassius only smiled and closed the distance between us, wrapping a hand around my throat and pinning me to the wall.

I shrieked and he shrugged, his pupils changing to a terrifying red.

"Your blood tastes better," He said in a distorted beastly voice and ripped my dress, leaving me in my underwear.

I gasped, my body shaking in fear, and closed my eyes as I prepared to feel teeth on my neck, tearing without mercy at my skin and sucking my blood.

But nothing happened and when I opened my eyes, Cassius pulled away, giving me a long stare that made my eyes widen in confusion before he cleared his throat and looked away from me.

"Leave. You may return later tonight."

I was shocked by his words but not so shocked that I didn't nod eagerly.

I turned around to quickly flee his presence when he slammed me against the door, his eyes filled with irritation as he choked me.

"Don't you have a mouth to speak, Amelia?"

Tears slipped out of my eyes and down my cheeks as I tried to breathe with his hands around my throat and I tried to answer him even though I was sure I might pass out from his hands around my throat.

"I'm sorry." I croaked and as if he was in a trance, he released me and frowned.

"Never forget your place, Amelia love. You are nothing but a slave. My slave." He stressed.

His words remained with me for the remainder of the day and it was several hours later when Britney, another slave, came to inform me that the guest who we had spent the day rearranging the entire mansion for had arrived.

I knew that I didn't have an option since it was mandatory for all of the servants to bring in the guest.

I didn't care who the guest was but as I stood, I began to feel weird and I held on to the dressing table for support.

Waving it off, because it was normal to feel disgusted especially after being touched by Vincent, I took a bath, trying to remove his scent from my body.

Joining the rest of the women's community on the stairs, I decided to pay attention to Elizabeth as she talked about the guest.

Apparently, it was the Alpha of the Shady Moon pack that was here and while the others squealed as she warned us to be on our best behavior, I was shocked.

Vampires and Werewolves were arch-enemies and hated each other so it made all of us collectively wonder what good could come out of a vampire lord and a strong Alpha meeting, especially because we were all just humans.

The weakest link. Used and useful for only whatever the stronger ones believed of us.

It made no sense that the two factions who had eternal beef with each other wanted to suddenly meet.

Why?

I guess I would never know. I was not permitted to have such information.

As we stood in front of the main entrance into the mansion, two cars parked in front of us, one behind the other, and when the back door opened and the individual stepped out, I was sure that I heard others gasp but my mouth fell open as I studied him.

Of all of the people who had come down, there was no doubt that he was the Alpha.

He looked like he stood well over six feet, with eyes that reminded me of blue jade crystals and a body that looked like it would cause a lot of trouble if he stripped. His brown hair was gelled to precision and when he brushed his shirt with his hand, I heard someone behind me swoon.

It was not hard to understand why because this stranger, this man that I was sure was the Alpha of all the three men, was probably one of the most gorgeous people I had ever seen.

His entire presence was so overwhelming as his eyes scanned the crowd and finally landed on me.

Perhaps I was under a spell as I stared right back at him, my heart pounding in my chest and my legs almost losing their strength, not knowing that my life was about to take a drastic turn thanks to this beautiful stranger.

Whether it was a good turn or the opposite, I still wasn't sure.
