Chapter 18

“What?” I whispered, slowly turning to Adrian, who didn’t even seem excited—his gaze fixed on his phone. I stared, wondering if I had heard wrong. My heart skipped a beat after hearing what Mr. Clastu just said. A wave of tension, pressure, and a confusing feeling hit me, like I was about to lose Adrian all over again.

I stood silently for a moment before looking at Roderick, who ate his food without a care in the world about his brother’s marriage. Did he know? I wondered, then glanced at the two ladies and the man sitting beside Adrian.

The girl was beautiful. Her skin was fair and smooth, and even sitting down, she had a very attractive figure. She reminded me of Sisi, and the shirt she wore complemented her look so well—she almost looked like a model. I stared for a moment longer, then noticed the man and woman who had come with her. They must be her parents.

Unfortunately, neither Adrian nor Roderick seemed to care.

“Please excuse me,” I said, pushing my chair bac

Chapter 48Camila’s POVThe news of my pregnancy spread faster than I could even process. One moment I was lying unconscious in the cold, dusty room of my kidnappers; the next, I was in a dimly lit bedroom back home, wrapped in a blanket, with Roderick pacing the floor like a lion trapped in a cage.“You shouldn’t have kept it from me, Camila,” he said in a strained voice, stopping to face me.I looked up from the steaming cup of tea Adrian had pressed into my hands minutes ago. My body ached in strange, unfamiliar ways, my head still foggy from the ordeal. But one truth burned through the haze — I was carrying Roderick’s child. That fact was as real as the pulse in my throat.“I needed time,” I whispered. “Time to understand what it means.”He turned toward the window, resting one hand against the glass while the other clenched at his side. “Time or not, they could have killed you.” His voice rose, sharp with frustration. “You were taken, Camila! Do you know what could’ve happened if

  • Torn between two brothers: One last wish    The line we crossed

Chapter 47 Camila’s POV Two weeks later, the silence in the house had grown heavier. Secrets weighed thicker in the air, and every glance carried questions no one dared to ask. I had been feeling ill lately, vomiting, dozing off and the weight of everything just made the constant headache worst.Today, I was heading out to meet Adrian, two weeks ago he couldn't make it to our meeting, something came up so we had to reschedule . After I message Adrian, I waited for him at the place we agreed to meet. I wasn't sure how to breathe. I initially thought the stress of what's been going on has been getting to me. I wanted talk to adrain to get my mind of things. “Adrian…” I turned to him, biting my bottom lip, my eyes feeling heavy and dizzy. the tears already stinging the corners of my eyes. Everything looking blurry. He blinked once. Twice. His jaw clenched as he looked at me. “camila, what's wrong. Are you ok?” I nodded slowly, wrapping my arms around myself as if that would sto

  • Torn between two brothers: One last wish    Whispers Before Dawn

Chapter 46 The morning light crept hesitantly through the sheer curtains, casting soft golden streaks across the estate's quiet walls. Silence hung in the air like a held breath. Yet beneath that stillness, something had shifted—as if the house itself had witnessed what happened the night before and was now deciding whether to speak or remain silent. Camila stirred in the bed, her body tangled in sheets that still held traces of Roderick’s warmth. He was already gone—up before sunrise but the space he left behind thrummed with the echo of the night they shared. She reached out, brushing her fingers over the pillow where his head had rested. A faint smile flickered on her lips... until the weight of memory returned like a crashing wave. The door. The creak. The soft sound. Had it really happened? She sat up abruptly, heart thudding in her chest. Meanwhile, in the sitting room... Ryan sat curled up in the chair, his knees pulled to his chest and arms wrapped tightly around them

  • Torn between two brothers: One last wish    After the noise

Chapter 45The house had finally became quiet. The laughter and clinking glasses had faded into silence, and the guests—along with their whispered judgments and hidden agendas, were gone. Roderick and Camila lingered near the edge of the now-deserted balcony, the moonlight caressing his cheekbones and drawing soft silver lines across the curve of his jaw.“They’ve all left, including Sisi,” Camila said softly.Roderick nodded. “Finally.”She took a deep breath, letting the cool air fill her lungs. There was something in the stillness of the night that made everything else feel far away. Just for a moment, it was like they were suspended in time.Roderick turned to her. His eyes, so often guarded, were bare tonight. Vulnerable.“You looked beautiful tonight,” he said. The honesty in his voice made her heart ache. She smiled, stepping closer. “You always say that.”“Because it’s always true,” he replied, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “But tonight... tonight it felt different

  • Torn between two brothers: One last wish    Tangled truth and fracture hearts

Chapter 44The house was unusually lively. Roderick’s relatives had come to visit, and the atmosphere was filled with forced smiles and silent tension. I moved through the crowd with a practiced calm—offering drinks, polite greetings, and wearing a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes.Unfamiliar faces surrounded me—faces that seemed to know me better than I knew them. From what was supposed to be a peace visit, it had turned into a mini party. I expected nothing less from Mrs. Miranda.Later in the evening, I found a moment alone with Adrian on the balcony. The moonlight cast warm shadows across his thoughtful face, and for a second, the noise inside faded.“I need to ask you something,” I said quietly, walking up to stand beside him.He turned to me, gentle concern in his eyes. “What’s wrong?”“Do you… do you really think Precillia is the one for you?”He looked away. Silence stretched between us before he finally answered, “Honestly, Camila, I don’t know. She’s kind, beautiful… bu

  • Torn between two brothers: One last wish    Crossroads of the Heart

Chapter 43 I didn’t expect to sleep so peacefully after everything, but somehow, the weight on my chest had eased a little after visiting Grandpa. His words stayed with me, echoing like a guiding light in a dark tunnel: "Sometimes, love isn’t about having. It’s about giving the one you care for the space to choose freely. If it’s real, it’ll find its way back to you." That morning, I walked into the kitchen and found Sisi already prepping breakfast. She turned slightly, her eyes meeting mine, warm and understanding. "Did you sleep okay?" she asked, passing me a cup of tea. I nodded. "Better than I thought I would." She reached for a plate. "You left pretty fast yesterday. Roderick didn’t ask questions. He just said you looked like you needed some space." I swallowed, a pang pressing against my chest. "That’s kind of him." Sisi paused, then turned fully to face me. "You still love Roderick, don’t you?" I blinked. There it was. No sugarcoating, no dancing around it. "Yes," I wh
