Pamela woke up, her body sinking into the comfort of an unfamiliar bed. The sheets smelled of Richard but when she turned to the side, he wasn’t there. She blinked against the morning lights filtering through the curtains, her mind still foggy with sleep. The last thing she remembered was crying in Richard’s arms.

“He must have carried me to bed.”

The thought sent a flutter through her chest. She stretched and yawned, and then she caught the scent of something savory drifting into the room. She glanced down, realizing she was still in her clothes from last night, though someone removed her shoes.

Walking barefoot across the hardwood floor, she followed the aroma to the kitchen. Richard stood at the stove, his broad back to her as he prepared a sizzling breakfast. The sight of him cooking was so domestic and unexpected that he froze in the doorway. He was dressed in a simple white t-shirt and gray sweatpants that hung low on his hips.

“You’re awake.” His voice was rough, but not unkind

On the drive home, all Richard could think about was Pamela and the fact that she knew who he was. The thought was a knife piercing him deeper and deeper with every mile he drove. He had seen it in her eyes-fear, betrayal, shattered trust. And Eleanor-his venomous wife, had ben the one to wield the knife. He tightened his grip on he steering wheel. he has spent years trying to bury Viktor Petrovich, creating Richard Carter from the ashes of a life he no longer wanted. But ghosts didn't stay buried. Not when Eleanor was determined to dig them up.He arrived at him house and to his surprise, he saw the dining table dressed with dining clothes and candle light. On the table lay a big piece of steak with roasted potatoes and a bottle of wine. He couldn't remember the last time Eleanor prepared dinner. "This must be a trap."Eleanor stood by the table with her back to him. She was wearing a silk nightgown that slithered over her hips, hugging the ripe curve of her firm ass. She turned slow

Pamela woke up the next morning, her body still shaking from the remnants of the previous day. The morning light filtered through her curtains, casting long, accusing shadows across her room. For a moment, she lay still on the bed, her head going through the events of the previous day.Viktor Petrovich. The name slithered through her mind, cold and foreign. It didn't fit the man she knew-the man who had kissed her and fucked her like she was the only thing that mattered. The man who held her and promised her everything was going to be fine. But Eleanor's words echoed through her skull. "The Raven, The Butcher of Bratva."She had not yet completely accepted the whole thing, and worst of all, she had to attend his lecture this morning and she would definitely see him. The thought sent shivers down her spine. She dragged herself out of bed to the bathroom. The shower was scalding, the water biting into her skin as if it could scrub away the memory of his touch. She closed her eyes and re

Pamela’s fingers trembled violently as she typed. “Come back. Please. It’s urgent.” She hit send. Her phone slipped from her hand and hit the cold bathroom floor, screen still lit. Pamela stared at the reflection of herself in the mirror—pale, wide-eyed, trembling. Her mascara was smudged from tears she couldn’t even remember crying. The photograph lay face-down on the tile, as if it too couldn't bear to see the truth. Viktor Petrovich. Not Richard. Not the man who kissed her like she was breath itself. Not the man who whispered things in her ear that made her soul blush. No, this was someone else. Someone Eleanor had warned her about with eyes so hollow they looked dug from the grave. The apartment was so silent it felt hostile. The walls were pressing in. The photograph sat like a bomb, ticking. Pamela backed away from it, breathing ragged. He wasn’t Richard. He wasn’t even real. Sophia shoved the door open twenty minutes later, breathless, keys jingling as they flew to

Eleanor reached into her purse and brought out an old photograph. She held it in between her two crimson painted fingers before handing over to Pamela.Pamela hesitated before taking it. Then she looked. It was Richard-but not the Richard she knew. This Richard had cold, dead eyes. Empty. Soulless. He wore a leather jacket zipped halfway down his broad chest, a pistol in hus left hand and a hunting knife in his right. Around him were four other men,all smiling, all filthy, their faces hard and cruel as if the devil himself was taking the picture. But not Richard. Richard did not smile. He just starred soullessly into the camera."That," Eleanor said, "is not your professor. That man's name is Viktor Petrovich, the Butcher of Bratva."Pamela blinked. "What's... Bratva.""The Russian Mafia. But not the kind you see in movies. The real ones. Blood-boind, sadistic, cult-like in loyalty. And Viktor?" She smirked bitterly. "He was the Bratva's most efficient killing machine."Pamela shook

The atmosphere thickened the moment Eleanor Carter entered the apartment-her stiletto heels tapping sharply against the hardwood floor. She was everything Pamela had imagined-tall, beautiful with aura that smelled of class. Her emerald-green dress hugged her curves, and the diamond studs in her ears caught the light as she surveyed the apartment with a slow, mocking sweep of her eyes. Her honey blonde hair was packed tightly, her crimson lips curled into a smirk as she stepped inside without waiting for an invitation. She swept past Pamela as though she owned the space.“How quaint,” Eleanor murmured, her voice dropping as she surveyed the living room, taking in the half empty coffee mugs, the scattered textbooks, the rumpled blanket on the couch. Her smirk deepened. “I pictured something…more refined. But then, Richard always did have a weakness for pet projectsPamela’s jaw clenched. Her fingers tightened at her sides. “Why are you here?”Eleanor turned slowly, her smile paper-thin

The lecture hall was packed, the air thick with murmurs and whispers of Desmond’s death. It’s been quite a while since the college recorded any suicide. Pamela sat rigidly in her seat, her fingers clenched around her notebook. A lot was going through her mind as she watched Richard standing in front of the lecture hall, his voice smooth and commanding as he prepared his lecture materials while calming the students down. But his words blurred into white noise for Pamela. All she could do was think about Desmond.“Did he do it?”The question scratched at the back of her mind, relentless. She stole a glance at Richard. He looked so compose, so unshaken like nothing had happened. Then hid gaze flickered to her and their eyes locked for a second. She looked away immediately, her heart pounding in her chest.“He knows I’m scared.”The though made her stomach twist. She forced herself to stare at her notes, but she couldn’t read a thing. The rest of the lecture passed quickly. The moment Ric
