YVONNE’S P.O.V

I left the building with shaky legs and disbelief

It took me a few minutes to gather my composure and flag down a taxi to take me home. All through the ride to my place, my fingers trembled and my mind raced

“A favor” I echoed Prince Emir's words in the backseat of the dimly lit taxi. The city lights blurred past the window, a mix of gold, red, blue, green, and every other colour I could think of as the car sped through the evening traffic.

I stared at my reflection in the glass

YVONNE'S P.O.V The cab door shut behind me; I could hardly register the sound over my frantically beating heart. My pulse has spiked into overdrive and chills rolled down my spine The sky was already dark at this time, and it was hard to see the look on his face clearly. My throat was dry as I approached him, my hands clammy I hadn't expected that he would show up at my place.Mr Voss didn't move when I stepped onto the porch, he didn’t shift, nor did he say anything either. I could feel the tension between us in the air. I swallowed the thick ball clogging my voice “You're here”The night breeze whipped past us, blowing my hair into my face. Mr Voss pushed off the wall and drew to his full height, towering over me in a way that felt part good, part frightening His gaze held mine, with the low light, the navy of his eyes was black in colour, steady and unblinking. He crossed his large arms over his chest, tilting his chin towards my hands“Groceries?” The dark drawl of his voice

YVONNE’S P.O.VI left the building with shaky legs and disbelief It took me a few minutes to gather my composure and flag down a taxi to take me home. All through the ride to my place, my fingers trembled and my mind raced“A favor” I echoed Prince Emir's words in the backseat of the dimly lit taxi. The city lights blurred past the window, a mix of gold, red, blue, green, and every other colour I could think of as the car sped through the evening traffic.I stared at my reflection in the glass window, and she stared back. Eyes sunken and tired, shoulders dropped in defeat, and an expression of disbelief and anxiety My usual “A favor” I repeated, because I couldn't stop thinking about that conversation. Was it really worth it? This deal with the Arabs? The question pressed deep into my chest, throbbing and unanswered. It made every inhale of breath feel like a tiresome labourI just wanted to go home, fall into my soft bed, and cocoon myself with warm blankets. The cab driver took

YVONNE'S P.O.VI was going through some files on my computer when my phone vibrated against my deskI ignored it, knowing for a fact that it wasn't Mr Voss who sent that message. He was in the conference room with the board members for a meeting. Although he hadn't told me what the meeting was about, I knew it was concerning the deal SilverThorn Group lost todayMy chest quaked and a small, sound escaped past my lips. My fingers trembled over my keyboard and I forced in a long, calming breath“He has everything under control” I reminded myself in a soft whisper. “It's not the end of the company. There are going to be more contracts in the future, better ones even"It sounded ridiculous— talking to myself in my empty office, but it helps lighten my mood so why not?I refocused on my screen, creating the schedule for Mr Voss's week. There was so much piled up due to our trip to Italy, hopefully, we could cover it all before the end of the monthI squinted my eyes at the screen, organizi

CLAYTON'S P.O.VThe last person I wanted to see today was Aunt Stephanie. Yet here I was, staring straight at her oily smile. My jaw hardened just at the mere sight. It wasn’t that I couldn’t postpone today's meeting. I could. I owned this building, the company, and all the other luxury investments scattered across the state. One word from the entire board and me would reschedule without any question. But postponing it would only delay the inevitable. It was better to get this done and dusted with “Terrible indeed” Aunt Stephanie made a show of clutching her pearls while nodding to something a member of the board said. Someone else followed with a softer tone. “It's not as bad as the press makes it seem. Companies lose deals from time to time, let's not make a big deal out of nothing”Aunt Stephanie's lips fell in a mock gasp. She drew in a breath for the show of it. “Did you just say let's not make a big deal out of this, Mr Cain?" She glanced around the boardroom, purposely avoid

YVONNE'S P.O.VThere was a chilling kind of cold that seeped past my skin and into my bonesMr Voss has never, and I mean not once given me any reason to be afraid or cautious around him. Even before he agreed to my absurd five-month affair, he was always so gentle with meHowever, this was his company, a multi-million-dollar company. He had broad to answer to, his legacy to protect. In the business world, any little mistake could cost so much that we worked tirelessly to ensure mistakes never happened He was within his rights to be pissed at me, I wouldn't fault him if I walked into the office and he didn't want to see me. The logical part of my brain understood that, but the entirety of my heart didn't. In fact, I was having breathing problems just imagining Mr Voss being angry at me. I didn't want to let him down, I didn't want to be an embarrassment, but it's too late for that nowI have somehow managed to mess this up too, just like I mess every other thing in my life. I didn't

YVONNE’S P.O.V. The toaster chimed, snapping me out of my thoughts. I grabbed the slices of bread before they got burned, prepared my sandwich, and put it into a paper bag. Then, I rushed for the door, not sparing time to check my reflection in the mirror. It was my first time being late to work. But between what happened last night and what happened again while Mr Voss “cleaned” me in the tub, I was exhausted. My body still ached in places I didn’t know could feel pleasure, and my mind hadn’t stopped replaying the sound of his voice, the way he’d said my name like it belonged to him.I could barely remember him driving me home or tucking me into bed like I was something fragile. And so I woke up late.Late but... different. More energized and happier than I could remember.I arrived at the bus station just in time. Throughout the ride, I kept trying to reach out to Sasha, who hadn't replied to my text in days. It was so unlike her. I know her job at the Set could be demanding, but

YVONNE'S P.O.VI could have sworn that Mr Voss stopped breathing. His eyes flared wide as he dragged in a sharp breath through his nose. “Let’s go” Mr Voss growled into my ears as he led the way into Goshen. The exclusive club of Washington. The securities didn't ask for a pass, they only gave h

Wearing a skirt without anything underneath was by far the most scandalous thing I have done. The thought of my most intimate part left bare for Mr Voss made me hot all through the taxi ride here.
