MasukPOV: Eleanor
I sat in my living room, the silence of the house enveloping me like a thick fog. My hands were clasped, but that wasn't really the case; my mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. Isabella's secret had been revealed, and I couldn't shake the weight of it. She was my daughter, and with all the love and trust we shared, I felt like I was standing on the edge of a precipice, unsure if the next step would save her... or destroy her completely.
She debated internally. Should she contact Adrian right then? Would telling him be a betrayal, or a way to protect her? He had hurt her, humiliated her, and yet... there was that connection, that child inside her, regardless of who it was. Could she trust him to act responsibly, to do what was right for Isabella and that baby? Or would her intervention only reopen old wounds and cause more chaos?
I took a deep breath and ran my hands over my face. Time wasn't going to stop for me to make the perfect decision. If I wanted to help Isabella, I had to do something... and do it carefully.
Finally, I picked up my phone and dialed Adrian's number. It rang twice before he answered.
"Eleanor?" Her voice was cautious, as if she already sensed trouble.
"It's me, Adrian," I said firmly, but calmly. "I need to talk to you about Isabella."
There was a long pause. I could almost hear him gritting his teeth as he thought.
-Isabella... what? What's wrong with her?
"She's pregnant," I said, my words firm but measured. "I know her situation is complicated, but this concerns both of you. You need to know what's happening and be part of what comes next."
"Pregnant?" Her voice broke with surprise and disbelief. "Wait... what? When? How...? Eleanor, I..."
"I know it's a lot," I interrupted gently. "But we have to think about her future. She's scared and doesn't know what to do. She needs stability, someone she can trust. I think you can be that person... if you really want to be."
Another pause. I heard a slight movement, perhaps papers, and a sigh from someone trying to compose themselves.
"No... I don't know if I can," he admitted, his voice low, almost vulnerable. "I ruined everything, Eleanor. I hurt her. I humiliated her. How am I supposed to...? I don't know if she'd let me back into her life, much less get involved with this... boy..."
"You don't have to have all the answers right now," I told her. "You just need honesty, presence, and a willingness to try. That's all she needs."
"I... okay. I think... I want to do the right thing, Eleanor. I really do. But I don't know where to start. I don't even know if she'll believe me."
Her voice broke again, tinged with fear and resigned acceptance.
"The first thing is to respect her space," I advised him. "Don't pressure her. Be there when she's ready. And... don't lie. If she catches you in a lie, she'll ruin everything."
-Yes... I understand. Thank you, Eleanor. I'll try.
I sighed, feeling a small glimmer of hope. It wasn't ideal, but it was a start.
I hung up the phone, leaned back in my seat, and closed my eyes. The rest was now in the hands of fate, both for me and for them.
But fate, as always, had a terrible sense of timing.
I heard Isabella moving around the apartment, soft footsteps echoing from the other room.
I didn't know if he'd overheard our conversation. Would he trust me after this? Guilt washed over me at the thought that he might see my intervention as a betrayal rather than protection.
A few minutes later, I heard the soft click of her bedroom door. I felt a deep compassion for her. She was caught in a whirlwind of emotions, lies, and decisions she had never asked for. My heart longed to go to her, to hold her, to reassure her that she wasn't alone. But I stayed seated, giving her the space she clearly needed.
Then, as I looked out the living room window, I saw something... or someone... crossing the street.
I squinted to focus on the figure, and my stomach tightened.
Broad shoulders. A confident stride.
It was Victor.
Isabella looked toward the window. Her eyes widened, and her face turned pale and tense. I could swear I saw recognition cross her expression: the tension in her jaw, the slight tremor in her hands as she gripped the edge of the desk.
Her eyes were fixed on the building. Her stride was firm, purposeful. There was something about the way she moved that sent a shiver down my spine. She wasn't just passing by... she was coming toward her.
I wanted to call her, warn her, shout her name, but I knew any sudden movement could send her into a panic. She had to process it in her own way, in her own time. I just hoped she'd take it as a warning, not a threat.
She swallowed and turned away from the window, her hands resting on her stomach, her body as tense as a rope about to snap. Fear, anticipation, guilt, and confusion were etched on her face. Even from a distance, she could see the storm she was fighting against.
Victor's shadow lingered for a moment on the sidewalk, then moved closer, his gaze fixed, sharp, calculating.
Isabella's lips tightened, and her shoulders yielded slightly, as if the weight of her secrets were crushing her even more.
Instinctively I reached out for her... but I stopped.
This was something she had to face on her own, just as she would have to face the reality of her pregnancy and the decisions it entailed. She only hoped that when Victor came to the door, she could stand up for herself... and maybe, one day, learn to trust again.
The room remained silent, broken only by the faint murmur of the city outside. The tension was so thick it seemed to cling to the walls.
Victor advanced with determination, inevitable.
And Isabella?
She was in the eye of the storm, her heart racing and her mind in chaos, caught between past betrayals and uncertainties of the future.
The future... without being able to do anything to stop what was about to happen.
Me preguntaba cuándo vendrías a verme. ¿Has estado siguiéndola?
Podía ver a Isabella claramente.
Alguien me había estado observando.
