Chapter 26

The rain had finally stopped, leaving the streets glistening with wetness under the moonlight. Madison had just been discharged from the hospital. She was meant to feel relief, but her heart was heavy. Liam's silence was killing her.

She sat quietly in the plush leather seats of Liam's luxury car, her gaze drifting out of the window as they made their way through the city.

Liam, sitting at the wheel, his hands firm on it, had not said a word since they left the hospital. The silence was deafening, the tension disturbing. Madison couldn't take it any longer; she needed to break it.

"Liam," she finally spoke, her voice soft and almost a whisper.

He glanced at her briefly, his jaw clenched, but said nothing.

She continued, "I know you're worried about my recovery, and I appreciate that, but we can't just ignore what happened today."

Liam sighed, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. "Madison, right now, all I care about is your well-being. We can talk about it later."
