Upon hearing those words from him, she had her goosebumps appear.
"You wanna eat?" Nathan asked her. She looked at him, he really looked gorgeous in his black suit. "Sure, I'm kinda hungry."
Nathan put some food on her plate. She finds him thoughtful. He was doing it seriously. She is so sure, that all his life, he was being served.
She smiles while looking at him. Nathan frowned when he caught her smiling.
"Why?" He asked seriously, again he wasn't smiling, but it didn't make him less handsome.
"Nothing, I just remember my dad, he was the one who always put the food on my plate." Her voice was saddened. Nathan cleared his throat before he asked her.
"How about the young man who was with you at the party?" He asked her while cutting his steak. "You mean, Hank?" She was frowning on her forehead. Why the sudden interest?
"Yeah, so Hank is the name huh?" He said while looking at her, he put down the knife and fork.
"Hank is my best friend." She said flatly. She smiled when she remembered how protective he was towards her.
"Just a mere mention of the man's name brought a smile to your lips huh." She didn't know if she misheard it, but she sensed bitterness in his voice. But why?
"Are you two in a relationship, babe?" She was surprised with his sudden question. She tilted her head many times, instead of answering his question.
"Good, I thought you two are dating, I think you should stop seeing him from now on." It was more like an order than a statement.
She gazed her eyes on him, again, he looked so serious. Did he really mean what he had just said?
"It's impossible!" She exclaimed. It couldn't be, she cannot easily avoid Hank.
He knows her very well, and he will surely ask her why she is avoiding him all of a sudden.
"It's not as easy as you think it is, Mr— she paused, Nathan," she said, lowering her voice. "Hank will ask, and he will find me, even if I hide." She said, trying to explain her side.
"I can get rid of him easily if I want." Nathan said directly, his eyes releasing a small fire that made her shivered. Seriously?
"I don't have any friends, except Hank, he was with me all the way. He stays with me through thick and thin and—." She stopped and was rattled when Nathan strongly kicked the chair beside him, creating a loud noise.
The violinist hurriedly ran when Nathan motioned him to leave.
He really frightened her. It was her first time seeing him become violent, aside from the punches that he threw to Hank.
"What is wrong with you?" She managed to ask, even if her voice was trembling, and her knees were shaking. Instead of answering her, he was already on her side in an instant.
Pulling her closer, and kissed her lips savagely. The way he kissed her was rough and possessive. She gasped when he finally released her.
"I don't say sorry, babe, and you know that." He was cupping her face. Her lips felt swollen in his hot kisses. He hugged her tightly, while kissing the top of her head. She was trembling, her life became complicated from the day she met him.
He was looking at her eyes intently. As if he was telling her, 'that's what I do whenever I hear the things I don't like.'
She remained in his embrace, his lean and hard body almost covered hers. It feels safe to be inside his arms, it feels as if nobody would ever dare to hurt her.
"I say it again, babe," he released her for a moment, but still holding her hands. "I don't want you to come near him again, I feel like he's into you." His face was unreadable, his jaw was moving.
She didn't feel anything for Hank! For Pete's sake!
"I'll try, but I can't promise that I can avoid him that easily. Hank is a very persistent man," she told him. Nathan remained silent for about a minute. Then, he speaked again.
"I don't wanna ruin this night, babe," he said with a hint of a smile on his lips.
"Can I ask you for a dance?" He took his phone and dialled. After a minute, the violinist returned to his place earlier.
He played Beautiful in White by Shane Fillan. She feels like she is in Fairy Tale while they danced. As if tonight is their honeymoon, and they are dancing.
Nathan was holding her waist, while he put her arms on his shoulders. She hates to admit it, but for her, it's so romantic.
She rested her head on his chest, she even heard his heartbeat. He smells so good. It would be fine with her, if she smells him all day.
His hands moving back and forth on his back, down to her waist, she can feel the heat that comes from his hand.
He was kissing her hair from time to time. If she was given a chance, she wanted to remain in his arms forever. She closed her eyes and savoured the moment. Just this once, because after tonight, I don't know if I will see you again, she thought.
They remain standing, even after the music stops. He took the champagne and gave it to her.
She accepted it, and took a sip, it relaxes her. They didn't mind the hours that passed by. They talk about anything and everything under the sun.
She felt a little tipsy, she was sleepy.
"I'm going to sleep." She told Nathan, he just looked at her and didn't answer. He stood, and guided her to stand. "Good night." She said, her eyes were tantalizing.
She was about to turn her back, when she remembered something. She doesn't know if it's with the champagne, but somebody urges her to kiss him and say thank you.
She faced him again, he was looking intently at her eyes. In her sudden move, she held his nape and brushed his lips with her lips in a few seconds. He felt tensed for what she did.
Because she kissed him unintentionally, she immediately turned her face to the other side. I need to get out of here! Geez! That was so embarrassing! She thought. But before she could move her legs, Nathan grabbed her hand.
"Not so fast, babe." He pulled her against his body, and his lips welcomed her mouth savagely.
Nathan stood up when she went outside, he wasn't smiling, he looked a little bored. She was walking towards him, while Anna was walking behind her. She knew Anna was observing her actions. "Let's go?" She sounded nice and sweetly while smiling at him. Nathan frowned, she was wondering why Nathan always frowned, maybe it's just one of his mannerisms, but it didn't make him less gorgeous. "Ahhmm, Miss Yana, the contractor from the firm came here, he was asking when they will start the construction of our new branch?" Ana seems to wait her decision, but she couldn't decide yet, because she is lack of funds. She has savings in the bank, but it wasn't enough. She was silent for a while, weighing the current situation. If she will make a loan in the bank, it may take a one one week process."I will just call you about it Ann," she told her. "I need to go to the bank first to get some loan for the construction. I have some money but it might not be enough." She tried to smile, as if sayin
Rhianna froze upon hearing the woman's voice. She slowly turned behind her back, then she saw another blonde woman, she was looking directly to Nathan. Wearing a beautiful smile that could melt a men's heart. She didn't even noticed her presence, it's as if she wasn't there. The woman walked gracefully, swaying her hips as she walks on. She was tall and sexy though she already had a child. The woman tiptoed and kissed Nathan on his cheek. She saw how Nathan snaked his arm around her waist. Then Nathan's eyes went to her, he carefully put down the child and got back to her side. He pulled her closer to his body, his arm was on her waist. She noticed how the woman's eyes followed Nathan's arm to her waist. She felt somewhat proud for what Nathan did. She even noticed how the woman slightly raised her perfectly curve brows. Or it was just an imagination, because she was smiling while looking at her. There's also a glint in her eyes. "Babe, I'd like you to meet, Amber Liang. She was a
"Careful, sweetheart." A familiar and soothing voice of her best friend. Hank was still holding her waist, he was intently looking at her eyes. She saw gladness and sadness at the same time. "Take off your hands, young man before I could break your pretty neck!" It was just a whisper coming from Nathan, but it sounds like thunder in her ear.Nathan was just standing near their car, his eyebrows were in one line and his jaw was moving. She even saw that his face was so red, it only means that he did not like what he saw. Hank still for a while, but released her afterwards."I was calling you, sweetheart, but your phone was always out of reach. Where have you been these past weeks?" Hank was asking him, his voice was full of concern. She even noticed that Hank was somewhat bothered. She wasn't sure, but he seemed distant. Maybe Hank was avoiding Nathan's anger. But she knew her best friend, he wasn't afraid of anyone. Before she could answer, Nathan was standing beside, he snaked his
Nathan took the whiskey straight, the bitter taste running down to his throat. Remembering what had happened four years ago, gave his chest a sudden jolt. He was the prime suspect in Stacey's case, but the lack of evidence and witnesses made his life back to normal. The Langleys went to Australia and live there for good. After that he never heard anything from them since then. For now, all he should think about is how to explain it to Rhianna. Upon remembering her, he stood up and paid for his drinks. He promised to tell her everything, he definitely owed her a story. He went to a bakeshop and bought Rhianna's favorite carrot cake. When he reached his pad, Rhianna was sleeping peacefully. Her scent covers the entire bedroom and it lingers in his nostrils. She smells like a fresh flowers, mixed with citrus. He came closer and kissed her forehead. She moved a little but didn't wake up.He went to the bathroom and took a shower, he let the water washed out all his inhibitions, doubts
Rhianna was tossing and turning endlessly on the bed, she liked to get some sleep, but her mind was still active. She got up from the bed and went to the shower room. There was a bathtub inside, she made a bubble bath and dipped herself for a moment. She felt so relaxed and pampered, she stayed there for an hour before she returned to the bed and tried to sleep. But Nathan's voice was ringing in her ear."When I get back, I'll tell you who Stacey Langley was." She needed to know the story, everybody deserves a fair hearing after all. She felt pity for Stacey and sympathy for Nathan. She needs to know why Scott despised him, and she has nothing to do to depend on Nathan, she doesn't know the whole story. She got up again, and picked up her phone. She called Nathan's number but it was just ringing, he must be very busy because of the days that they were in Miami. She stared at her phone for a couple of minutes, as if she was searching the answers through the screen. She took a deep
"What the heck, Nathan? You were cursing endlessly, what happened?" Rhianna raised her voice. She was wondering why Nathan acted that way. "I'll surely kill that bastard!" Nathan muttered, he was gritting his teeth. "What's with you?" She didn't know what the news he heard about, and he was acting so strange. His knowing look darted her. "Tell me honestly, does Langley bother you, babe?" "No, he's not." Rhianna told Nathan."But I saw him last night," she confessed. Nathan's eyes became more furious, he was like a predator, ready to slay his prey."Last night? Where?" He was frowning at her, she felt nervous in the tension that started to build up between them."When I came out from the restroom, in the restaurant last night." She looked down on the floor, she was so afraid to fight his dagging look."You mean, he waited for you? Is that all?" Nathan was gritting his teeth, it seems that he didn't like her confession."No, he told me to call him when we return home," she said bol
