Althea sat quietly near the window of the inn, her fingers tracing the smooth surface of the small black bangle she had bought a few days ago from the Nightcrawler Pack’s market.

The faint shimmer of the embedded stone, and she smiled softly. She had cast a simple protective spell on it—something subtle, harmless, yet strong enough to shield the wearer from negative energy.

It wasn’t much, but it was something she wanted Gavriel to have. Still, she hesitated on whether to give it to him or not. There were six more bangles, each with a different color and design—the three meant for the warrior guards, one for Simon, one for Osman, and one for Elsa.

Elsa was Ava’s spy, but Althea knew well that she was only doing it for her and her family’s survival, even if it was against her will. Elsa had been left behind, but Althea planned to give her the protective bangle once she returned to the palace.

Her gaze shifted back to the window. Her heart beat unevenly as she looked down again at the

Althea was grateful when Gavriel finally led her away from the banquet hall. Her heart had been pounding so hard she thought it might burst from all the attention she’d received that night. She watched his hand firmly wrapped around hers as they walked toward the stairs, but soon she realized they had already passed the floor where their chamber was.“Where are we going?” she asked curiously. She could sense his emotions—something about him felt a little nervous.“Just up,” Gavriel said. “Let’s have dinner together, just the two of us. I know you felt awkward earlier, and I’m sorry for putting you on the spot like that.”Althea swallowed hard. She still wasn’t used to hearing Gavriel apologize so easily. Lately, he had been saying sorry more often, even for small things like this, and it always caught her off guard.Althea tilted her head, trying to catch a glimpse of his expression, but Gavriel kept his gaze straight ahead as they ascended the stairs. His grip on her hand was warm, s

Candice was about to approach Gavriel after Althea’s breathtaking performance when Osman quickly stepped in front of her, blocking her path.“He must know this!” she hissed, her voice sharp with urgency as she tried to pull away from him.“I know,” Osman muttered, gripping her arm before she could storm off. “But not now. Can’t you see? You’ll ruin the momentum. Just… breathe a little. Sit down. Eat and drink first. We both need it. Aren’t you even exhausted?!”Candice glared but reluctantly let him lead her toward a nearby table. Osman signaled a servant, ordering food and wine as she sat down, still fuming. Her mind wouldn’t stop racing. The rhythm of Althea’s dance still echoed in her head—those movements, that control, that elemental fusion. She clenched her jaw. ‘How is that even possible?’The Ethereal Blood Dance wasn’t something anyone could perform. Even she, a princess of House Terravane, had only mastered it with her element—earth. Her Ethereal Blade was purely of stone and

Ava tried to compose herself as she stayed a little longer in the banquet hall, forcing herself to act unaffected by the sudden appearance of Cain’s daughter. She had heard the rumors claiming Althea wasn’t really Cain’s child, and tonight she could tell, the Alpha King seemed to believe them too.As soon as she found the chance, Ava excused herself and left the hall, her steps quick but steady until she reached her quarters. Nilda was already waiting for her inside.“My Lady, we have a problem,” Nilda said the moment Ava entered.Ava closed her eyes and drew in a slow breath, still reeling from everything that had happened at the banquet. And now, another problem? She could feel her patience thinning.“What is it?” she demanded, her tone sharp, eyes flashing with irritation.“The Princess… Princess Riela is now heavily guarded. They’re not letting anyone near her, not even me,” Nilda explained nervously. “For now, our only hope is that the breeder won’t be able to heal her.”Ava’s gl

“That’s a magnificent performance we haven’t witnessed before!” Minister Marcus praised, still clapping with genuine awe.It was the first time she had ever felt something like this, being praised in front of a crowd for her performance. For once, she truly felt a sense of achievement.“Thank you, Lord Marius, I am glad you like the presentation,” Althea smiled sweetly, relief washing over her. She was glad her performance went well. Who would have thought she could still perfect it after thirteen long years since she last practiced it? But it was probably her willpower to make Gavriel proud and not let him down that pushed her to do so well. The royal court officials began to gather around her, joined by nobles from every corner of the hall. Their excitement was almost tangible, their smiles bright and curious as they praised her. It was overwhelming—their voices, their applause, the way their eyes followed her every movement. Althea tried to stay composed, though her heart was r

Althea froze for a brief second. She hadn’t expected to be called out so suddenly. Her fingers tightened slightly on the fabric of her dress, though her face remained calm. The whispers began again.“What could she possibly perform?” someone whispered.“She’s Cain’s daughter, not a court lady and I heard she never leaves the pack too nor learn a thing. They say she’s the favorite but the good for nothing daughter.”“You’re wrong. She has magical abilities. And she already proven herself even saving many of our own. I’m sure she has more to show…”“That’s different from showing a talent in events like this though. Lady Ava trained for years under the royal tutor. Lady Althea can’t compare. Or is she planning to perform a magical abilities for entertainment?”“Her only advantage is her looks and that she’s the Alpha King’s mate.”Whispers and some thoughts echoed even louder in Althea’s mind as she accidentally brushed against the surface emotions of those around her. Their envy, mocker

Leaving no room for doubt, Gavriel continued firmly, “Treat her with the same respect you would give me.”Gasps rippled across the hall. The musicians faltered for a brief moment before quickly recovering. No one expected the Alpha King to make such a declaration especially not during Minister Marius’s birthday celebration, a man everyone knew was like a second father to him.Even the Queen Mother, seated on his right, struggled to maintain her composure. Her hand clenched tightly on her lap, her face turning pale as whispers spread across the grand hall.[Gavriel! What is the meaning of this?!] she demanded through their mindlink, her voice sharp with disbelief.[You heard me, Mother,] Gavriel replied, his tone steady but cold. [I’ve chosen Althea as my Luna Queen. Don’t bring up Riela again—you don’t know the whole truth yet. We’ll talk later, but one thing you must understand is that the people trying to get close to you aren’t what they seem.][What do you mean?!]He wasn’t plannin
