Third person POV

FIVE MONTHS EARLIER

‘Bringgggg’ the sound of a buzzer rang out as the door slid opened.

A middle-aged man with already balding hair that was in a warden’s uniform walked through the door. He had a nonchalant look on his face as he walked past cell doors.

He looked like he had a destination in mind with the way his eyes never strayed to the inmates that were either shouting at him or begging him for one reason or the other. He didn’t even spare them a glance and twisted his mouth in a distasteful manner as if he were being bothered by flies. He walked for a bit till he got to a section of the prison that all the cells were quiet.

He smirked as he glanced at each of the male inmates in those cells that were cowering in fear or were trying their best not to make any sounds.

“These guys are such scaredy cats. Well I understand them seeing as they had the misfortune to be put in a cell that was near….” The middle-aged warden thought to himself as he turned his eyes away from the scared inmates.

He walked towards a cell that was not loud yet was not quiet either and peered inside.

“Can’t you even do this right?” a low but chilly voice laced with the thick Italian accent resounded in the cell.

It was odd to see that someone with such a low voice could bark an order with such firmness.

The middle-aged man eyes landed on the owner of the voice.

A man was sited on a chair with his head bent hiding his face and the chain bounding his hands looked as heavy as one that could be used to tying down a armored tank.

Even with his head bent, his handsome features were still so prominent that one would wonder if he was really a world feared criminal.

The warden himself almost couldn’t control himself as he so badly wanted him to raise his head a bit.

The man had straight, silky and smooth black hair that reached past his neck a bit.

He had a well sculptured back which even still looked well defined in the prison's pink overall. His skin was tanned but all it did was add to his masculinity. He had muscles in all the right places and it could easily be seen as he gradually turned his head to the direction one other inmate was cowering at the corner of the cell. It was rear for him to have a cell partner but the amount of crimes has increased recently and him having a cellmate couldn't be avoided.

As He sat down gallantly, the first thought that came to the warden’s head was KING

He had the aura of a majestic King. AN ITALIAN KING.

The warden shook his head immediately he realized what he had just thought of.

He knew that beneath all this royalty image laid the most sinister, crazy and deadliest person he had ever come across.

He was the most feared inmate in this prison as well as the reason those other inmates would cower in fear.

“Are you so dumb that you can’t achieve such a simple task?” the thick Italian accent came again and this time, it had an eerie tone to it that was able to send shivers down the spine of anyone who listened.

The warden shivered in fear as he moved back two steps. He breathed in a puff of air in a bid to calm himself. Once he had calmed, he remembered what he was here.

“uhhm!” he cleared his throat loud enough to grab the attention of the people in the cell.

“Ciro Russo, you have a visitor!” he said with as much authority in his voice as his flustered self could muster.

There was an eerie silence immediately he talked.

The man finally looked up at the warden with a completely dead look that sent shivers down the warden's spine.

“And who is so unfortunate to want to see this devil” He said licking his lips slowly before standing up and a smirk began to form on his face.

“It is a lawyer. He has come to discuss how you can reduce your sentence.” The warden replied as he moved another step back as Ciro moved closer and the sound of chain on the ground hit his ears.

“Well Well Well……. If the lawyer is here, we surely must entertain him.” He said as his smirk widened into a lopsided grin that made the warden shiver again.

‘Claaaang’ came the sound of the cell door as it was being dragged open by the warden.

He held up a baton to protect himself as Ciro walked out of the cell. He was not willing to take any risks on this dangerous man.

He kept on smirking as henoticed the fear that the man had for him. He liked that they were all afraid of him.

He craved and lived for their fear and trepidation.

“Boo” Ciro said in a loud voice as he stomped his foot on the ground and the shackles of chain hit the ground loudly once he was out of the cell.

The warden jumped a bit in fear but he kept telling himself that he wasn’t scared just to soothe his manly ego.

“You know the way so move!” the man gruffly said in a bid to redeem his pride.

He didn’t dare to touch Ciro though.

You see, it wasn’t that he was a mad ass fighter or a terrorist, that was so wrong. In fact, he had never killed anyone in his life. He had attempted it but he failed.

The issue was that he was too crazy and deadly for anyone to handle. The things he did were way too unpredictable yet extremely smart.

That was the main reason everyone was so scared of him.

He would never kill you, but the things he would do to you would be enough to scar you for life.

“You said that the lawyer was here to see me, right? Do you know why because as far as I know, my trial is definite seeing as the magnitude of my crimes are a bit…. How do I say it? Too much for your tiny minds to comprehend. Also, what is with what you said about him having a way to reduce my sentence? Is he perhaps thinking of killing me and ending whatever suffering he thinks I have? Oh, I would love that.” Ciro said before he started laughing.

At first, it sounded like heavenly bells were ringing but soon it turned maniacal and it sent shivers down the spine of everyone that heard it.

The warden held out his bat as he glanced at him cautiously.

“Don’t worry man, I won’t do anything to you. I am curious on what the lawyer has brought. So, tell me if you know why he is here” he said.

“Well, I am not sure. I just know that he asked for you claiming he has a way to reduce your sentence. I was also shocked seeing as you are a lost cause and all that” the warden blurted out as he cuffed him again despite the chains on his hands and legs and began to lead him towards the meeting area.

He halted once he felt an eerie feeling wash over him. He turned towards him to check if he was the source of that look but all he saw was him smiling back at him.

‘Whatever! Lets just get this over with’ he thought as he hurriedly led him towards the conference room.

Soon Ciro was standing in front of a tapered glass that separated him from the lawyer. This was the safest way that he could speak to him without him trying any things that were uncalled for.

The lawyer was a man in his mid-thirties that looked like he had enjoyed all the things that life could offer seeing as he had a potbelly. He messed up his air in a way that Ciro was sure was supposed to make him look younger.

‘Well man, I am sorry to tell you that your look failed. You look like an old bag of potatoes.’ He thought as He began snickering.

The lawyer raised his brow at him but he kept snickering and giggling.

“Well, what do we have here? A lawyer who wants to get me out of here? Can you tell me why you want to do that? I am enjoying it here.” He said with a crooked grin that was supposed to scare him.

He did not look in the least bit fazed and that made Ciro raise his brow in surprise.

This was one of the few people that didn’t care about what he did.

Well I will have to change that won’t I?

He leaned forward and licked the glass separating them suddenly and the man moved back in fright.

‘There it is! That fear that I adore.’ He thought before he started crying.

Yes. You heard right! He started bawling his eyes out.

“You are scared. I’m so happy” he said while crying.

The lawyer moved back a bit from the wall in panic.

‘What the hell? This man is very crazy” he thought as he watched him cautiously.

He soon started laughing maniacally and that just sent shivers down the spine of the people that were watching.

Once he had settled down, the lawyer began talking.

“So, the state is battling in whether to give you a normal sentence because of your crimes or send you to a psychiatrist ward due to your mental…. You know…” he said as he trailed off.

Ciro raised his brow.

“You mean my mental disorder? Who said I had a mental disorder?” He asked with a toothy grin on his face.

The lawyer gulped.

“Well, due to what you do as well as your last incident, we had concluded that you had a….. mental disorder. So, the state has come up with a new solution to your problem.” He said

Ciro already didn’t like where this was going but he was never one to reveal what hetruly felt so he just egged him on.

“You have to see a psychiatrist.” He finished and he just lost it.

“Hell no.” he exclaimed already standing up to leave as the chains hit the ground heavily.

“Wait, Ciro. They said that if you go and the doctor gives you a pass, you will get a lighter sentence. You just need to attend the sessions in the city center thrice a week and them you are good to go.” He said in a bid to convince him.

Ciro didn’t want to listen to his words but when he heard the word city center, his mind clicked.

“Well, since you are desperately begging me, I will go” he said before he turned and smiled at him with a gleam in his eyes.

He could see the sudden confusion in the lawyers eyes as to how he just suddenly changed his mind but he couldn't care less.

“I will go and get my crazy fixed” he said once more but, in his mind, he was calculating how much of his craziness he would use to take down that damn psychiatrist.
