Chapter 2 - Casen

“Where are the files that I told you to get together on the Obsidian Pack? Why are you so incompetent? How do you think you’ll be able to lead this pack if you can’t even follow simple directions?” My father, our alpha, growls at me.

Knowing better than to verbally respond, I walk to the desk and pick up the large file from his file sorter. It’s right beside his computer monitor and the exact place that he tells me to put all of his files each time he asks me to create for him. The same place it was when he walked in from lunch. I had also sent a file to him via email and uploaded it to his laptop, so that he wouldn’t have to carry the bulky file with him. But, it’s better not to say that.

Since I graduated high school nearly four years ago, I have been in “alpha training” with my father. It mostly consisted of being my father’s personal assistant and on call for him at all hours of the day and night.

You would think that he would be happy to retire, having been in his 30s wh
