Chapter 4: Teen Idle I

-

There's something strange about her homeroom teacher, Jay just couldn't place a finger on it. She felt it around day two or three, his vibe was... Not so good? Also, he usually smiled more at female students. But, that's pretty normal since the male students in her class are a bit of a rowdy bunch.

Well, a few of the boys did manage to come in before the bell rings, only to fall asleep before class even starts.

She came to class early on a Friday morning. The first session is biology, a subject which Jay kind of enjoys learning, but not really into it. But, still she opened her textbook and started reading about bones, unlike the boy two seats behind her who came in early only to pass out on his desk.

Why do they need to study about bones anyways? Not all of them are gonna grow up to be doctors. Sure, they need the basic knowledge for just-in-case situations, but a ten page lesson with four picture diagrams seems to be a bit of an overkill.

"Hi." A blur of ginger hair set down next to her.

Everyone has a single desk, and the only way for this girl to sit next to her is she pulled her own chair to sit next to Jay.

"You came a bit earlier today." Baby blue eyes behind a pair of round thin glasses tried to catch her attention, and Jay sighed.

"Please go away. I'm reading." She mumbled out, keeping her face behind jer textbook.

Word has gotten out on her first day of school, the ever so popular Jake Devin sat his ass down next to her, gave her the fried egg from his favorite fried rice and paid for her dessert. Some of the girls would sell their soul to be in her place for one day, from what she's heard from her classmates. Also, Jake already has a girlfriend, and she's probably that super model lookalike who has really beautiful emerald green eyes. Her name was Helena, if Jay remembered correctly.

The second day rolled along, and her brother still insisted on having lunch together, his two friends sat down on the other side of the table awkwardly as the day before.

The same for say three.

And day four.

According to the rumors going around the library, Jake wanted to keep his distance from Helena. And what's a better way to do that than to use his beloved little sister as an excuse?

'My little Jing is lost, she's a freshman, she's really introverted and needs friends.' All the wise words from JinLong. 'I can't have her sitting all alone at the cafeteria during lunch.'

And he promptly filled those spaces on her table with his giant friends to make sure that there was no space left for his girlfriend to squeeze in.

Ever since people figured out that she's related to the ever charming and glorious Jake, they kept trying to get in her way.

Jay could see the malice behind their 'friendly' smiles and praises they sang for her. Authenticity was thrown out of the window since even her classmates started to try to get to her brother by standing with her. Sure, she'll tolerate them in group works, but other than that, she keeps to herself and her textbooks.

After a few days of turning down party invitations and friendships from at least fifty people, her actions were registered as being introverted and shy, not people-phobic and getting away from anyone who might take advantage of her to get to her brother.

Now it's Friday, and she's getting tired of this shit.

"I'm Kelline, by the way." The ginger introduced herself with a large smile on her face, showing off her pearly white teeth and dimples on either side of her cheeks. "You can hangout with me and my friends, if you wanna."

Jay didn't say anything, and the girl took it as a sign to continue.

"You can come sit with us during lunch or we can sit with you and your brother."

Jay closed her textbook and took a deep breath. Then, she got up from her chair.

"I'll be back once the bell rings." She mumbled before walking past Kelline.

"Wait, Jay! I'm coming with you!" The ginger stood up and kicked her chair away.

It's not hard for Jay to blend in the crowd, and soon, she's out the back door of her building. Her fingers furiously unlocked her phone and called her brother.

"Hello?" Rody's voice came through, and Jay groaned.

"Where's Jake?" She demanded.

A yawn was heard from the receiver before Rody answered, "Still showering."

Jay paused for a bit, and she frowned. How does Rody know her brother is still in the shower?

"You're in his room?" She asked cautiously.

A light chuckle echoed through her phone. "Nah, he's in my room."

"What?"

"I'm also in his room." Jay could hear his grin through the line. "We're roommates, hamster girl."

Oh.

She sometimes forgot about the empty bed in her room. Guess the academy forgot to assign her a new roommate. Well, she had a room to herself back when she was living with her father anyways.

"Anyways..." Rody whistled. "We're running late today. No breakfast for us."

"And whose fault was that?" Jake's voice can be heard clearly behind Rody, and Jay giggled a little.

"Hey, hey, calm your tits, sir." Rody clicked his tongue. "Little Jay, tell Big Jay that Jake murdered me and dumped my body into the—"

"Rodrigo, where's my phone?" Jake shouted, and the call ended abruptly.

Jay put her phone down defeatedly. She didn't get to talk to her brother about what she actually wanted to talk about.

Another glance at her phone, and it's still half an hour away from class. She sighed and pulled herself to the cafeteria.

Even though it smells of trash a little, Jay still prefers using the backdoor of every building. They're much less crowded, and sometimes the distance is shorter, depending on which building you're coming from and going to.

She waved at the cleaning lady as she past the kitchen and the toilet. The ladies' WC is empty as usual, and there's one person in the gentlemen's WC washing blood off his hands.

Washing What Off His Hands?!?

Jay doubled back her steps, and there stood the infamous fucker who's also called Jay. His sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, and his hands — she did see it correctly — are covered in red.

She stood there in front of the WC, watching him washing his hands, and she realized that only his knuckles are bruised to the point where they bleed.

Soon, he switched off the water, and dark blue eyes frowned at her.

"What are you doing?" She asked before he could even say her name.

"I..." His frown deepened. "I'm supposed to be asking you that."

"Oh." Jay made her way further from the gentlemen WC and turned around.

He has a point. She was standing in front of the WC for too long, like a weirdo.

"Your hands," She started talking when she heard his heavy footsteps coming towards her. "They're bleeding."

"None of your business." He huffed, his footsteps stopped right behind her. "Where's Jake and Rody?"

"Not here for breakfast." Jay gritted her teeth. "They're having a shower party in their room."

The big guy choked. After all, he knows more than she does.

Jay looked up at him trying to regain his composure from coughing and clearing his throat.

"Alright, okay." He ran his fingers through his hair. "Let's go grab something to eat."

This time, he led the way, and Jay hopped after him. Her eyes wandered to his hands once in a while, but she didn't bring it up.
