Chapter 38

Author: Lightmoon
Soon, the private room emptied, and Zayne closed the door behind him.

...

An oppressive silence filled the luxurious space.

Lucian leaned back against the couch. The dim golden light cast shadows across his sharp, aristocratic features, adding an air of dangerous mystery.

His overwhelming presence made the room feel heavier despite having fewer people in it than before. Marisol felt suffocated by his presence, yet there was nowhere to hide.

"You were so determined to talk earlier. Why won't you come closer now?"

Lucian's gaze locked onto her from within the shadows. His dark, tousled hair framed those cold and unreadable fox-like eyes. "Come here. If you're asking for something, you should at least show the proper attitude. Don't you agree, my dear?"

Marisol didn't move. She could sense the danger radiating from the man on the couch. She knew her earlier threat had provoked him, and approaching him now was out of the question.

Standing firmly by the door, she took a steadying b

The call ended. In the bedroom, Julius sat on the edge of the bed for a long time until his phone buzzed again, snapping him back to attention. He instinctively answered. It was the fast delivery he'd ordered. He left the room and walked softly past Marisol's bedroom. He then went downstairs, opened the door, and crossed the courtyard to the main gate. Waiting outside wasn't a delivery worker, but Zayne. In the quiet night, a few streetlights glowed along the road. The man stood at the gate holding the items while silently watching him. Julius didn't speak either. The villa's iron gate was half open, with the two of them on either side. They stared at each other wordlessly until Zayne finally broke the silence. He handed over the items, and his tone brooked no argument. "Leave tomorrow. Don't come back here.""Marisol agreed to it. Mind your own business." Taking the items, Julius slammed the gate shut, not bothering to waste words.Zayne wasn't surprised by this.If Julius wer

"Oh, this?" Marisol said dismissively. "I ran into a lunatic, but it's fine now. We're talking about your situation!""A lunatic?" Julius' eyes grew darker."Let's talk about you first. What happened? You're getting drunk and fighting? Has something been going on lately that..." Marisol couldn't help coughing after a few words."Marisol, just don't talk anymore."Noticing her throat discomfort, Julius quickly urged her to stop, but then hesitated. "But about my situation, could you maybe not ask?""What?" Marisol frowned."Please listen to me."Julius gritted his teeth and finally made his decision. "I've been dealing with something lately. I was in a bad mood and drank too much, which led to this. I promise it won't happen again. Could you please not ask about it?"Marisol looked at him for a while before asking softly, "Is it something I can't know about?""Yes." Julius lowered his head. "I don't want to lie to you. I can only promise that once I figure this out, I'll tell y

In the next second, Marisol awkwardly stopped in her tracks. Under her phone's flashlight, several men lay on the ground, moaning and crying out in pain. They cursed and struggled to get up upon hearing her voice. They clenched their fists as they walked toward her.Ten seconds later, a bunch of them were sprawled on the ground. Marisol asked one of them, "Where's the person you dragged in here? What did you do to him?""What could we do! Didn't you see who got beaten..." The man being questioned started to curse, but catching sight of the silent man beside the woman, he bit his tongue and softened his tone."We didn't do anything! That kid got drunk and trashed our bar, so we just wanted to talk to him about compensation. Who knew the guy would be so violent..."After getting the story and finding out where he'd gone, Marisol stepped over the men on the ground and ran deeper into the alley. Passing by the bar's back door, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure inside and quickl

At the time in the restaurant, while Marisol hadn't been completely desperate, she'd genuinely worried that Sienna might lose control and actually stab her. Her heart had been in her throat. She'd been ready to grit her teeth and agree.Whatever happened, a trip was just a trip. It would buy her time to figure something out, which was better than provoking the woman into losing control and having blood spilled on the spot. She couldn't count on a lunatic being rational. She hadn't expected someone to actually talk that madwoman down. She wondered who had that kind of influence and naturally wanted to meet them. Moreover, she kept thinking about that strange look Sienna had given her when she took the call. That inexplicable sense of unease resurfaced. It would bother her if she didn't ask.In the driver's seat, Zayne kept his eyes on the road ahead. When he heard her question, his expression didn't change. He replied steadily, "I just had some Perrin family elders talk to her."Pe

"Yes," Sienna said matter-of-factly. "Because she's not a Perrin.""What about me?" Nolan asked. What about his feelings?"You're my little brother. I'll overlook your insolence today in defending an outsider and repeatedly contradicting me. But Nolan, don't make me unhappy."Sienna turned and walked toward the mouth of the alley. Her figure was slender yet sharp. Nolan stared silently at her retreating form, managing only a bitter smile. This was his sister. The Perrins hadn't initially groomed her as heiress, but with her forceful, unquestionable temperament and abilities, she'd dominated him from childhood. She excelled at everything and was brilliant beyond measure. Fresh out of college, she'd quickly made her mark by starting from the company's entry level and completely changing the family's perception. They raised her as the rightful heiress. But he knew his sister all too well. She only did things because she wanted to win. She never cared about family company assets or

Nolan was stunned. After a long moment, he asked in disbelief, "What... What exactly do you see Orion as?""What do I see him as?" Sienna let out a scoff. Her tone was completely indifferent. "As proof that I was blind back then! I got involved with that filthy bastard and produced another traitorous spawn who constantly betrays me!"Truly like father, like son!Suddenly, she grew impatient. She shoved past the dumbfounded Nolan and walked toward the car parked at the other end of the alley. It took Nolan a long while to recover and follow, but he didn't know what to say anymore. They walked in silence. Just before exiting the alley, Sienna held her nearly finished cigarette between her fingertips. She turned to face Nolan and said expressionlessly, "Get Orion's school enrollment sorted out quickly. Send him to the same school as the Muller family's child. What's his name... Andre, right? Put them in the same class.""Absolutely not!" Nolan's face changed as he immediately refuse
