Finally, after driving almost six hours, we arrived at the River Bed Pack. Instead of turning into the city, our car took us into a gigantic white mansion sitting on a hill in the middle of nowhere. The house, situated halfway up a hill, was decadent beyond description with sweeping vistas of sunsets and city lights. The moment I got out of the car, I heard children's laughter and playful cries. In the garden, the young boys were playing and running with two nannies keeping guard over them. The older boy tossed a ball, and it rolled to Georgina's feet by accident. She yelled at the children, scaring them. The older boy moved instantly in front of his younger brother, guarding him protectively. "We're terribly sorry," he said, his tone firm but contrite. "We didn't intend to hurt you."I jumped in before Georgina could speak, "She's not hurt. She's only surprised and afraid the ball will mess up her dress." Georgina snarled but remained silent. That's when I noticed the boy's face. Somethi

  • Twice Fated   Chapter 15: Georgina's POV

When I saw Bella approaching the stage with Alpha King Rick and the two children we had met earlier in the garden, my heart almost stopped. I couldn't believe it. She's alive.I glanced over at my husband, Cole, and his expression was a mirror of my shock. Jealousy seared within me as Alpha King Rick presented Bella as his wife. She's so fortunate. The Alpha King is the most attractive man here at this yearly gathering—strong, rich, and authoritative. I couldn't understand how she managed to get him or why they even met. After dinner, dinner was served. The meal was delicious, but I hardly had a bite. My hunger fled, eclipsed by the storm of emotions raging in my chest. Frustration. Jealousy. Anger. I shoved the plate aside and made a quick exit.I stepped outside and cursed under my breath. "Bella…" Her name was bitter on my lips. I needed some fresh air, room to think. My feet walked me to the garden, where the night breeze chilled nothing about my furious mind.I pulled my phone from m

In the meeting room, following the meeting, dinner was served. Rick walked from table to table, conversing with different alphas. His authoritative presence was impossible to ignore as he chatted throughout the room.I saw Cole from afar staring at me and my children with a serious and unflinching gaze. Sensing his eyes on us, I turned to the nannies and gently told them, "Please take the kids to their room in the mansion. They've already eaten. Just remain there with them for tonight."I smiled warmly at my children, waving to reassure them. "No stories tonight, okay?" I kissed each of them softly on the forehead. They nodded, and I saw them leave the hall with the nannies. As I looked around the room, I spotted Georgina making her way to the door. Automatically, I decided to tail her. But before I could act, Alpha Edgar of the Crimson Petals Pack came up to me."Can I join you, Luna?" he inquired with a captivating smile.I hesitated because I didn't know if I should be dining with anyon

  • Twice Fated   Chapter 13: Annual Meeting

Bella's POVThis is the inaugural day of the three-day yearly conference. This high-profile conference brings the Alphas, Lunas, and Betas of all the packs together. As I got ready for the day, I mind-connected the children's nannies, Jenny and Delly, and told them to dress up the children and take them to the conference hall. Rick is going to officially introduce them tonight, and I wanted to make it perfect. Two days earlier, I had painstakingly picked their attire. Edsel and Gian would share the same attire as their father—a well-fitted black suit. The meeting hall, located just beside the mansion, is already filling with guests. The building is grand, with a second floor and several rooms reserved for the Alphas and Lunas to stay during the event. I’m in one of these rooms now, preparing for the night. My faithful, ever-reliable maid, Mary, assisted me into my backless silver gown. The material molded itself to my curves like the light of the moon, molding my figure perfectly. A bejew

As I sat down in my office leather chair, my thoughts had returned to what transpired five years ago, and a storm of emotions churned within. Bella's eyes taunted me, pleading, tear-filled eyes that implored me to trust her innocence. She had promised she wasn't being unfaithful, yet something about the whole episode didn't ring true. In my innermost core, I couldn't help but have an inkling that there was more to the story than what I was told.I settled back in my chair, closed my eyes, and concentrated, extending through the mind-link to my beta, Robert. "I need you to report to my office. There's something we need to talk about.Robert came promptly, as always. Not losing any time, I issued him his instructions. "I want you to locate and bring Bella in," I instructed, my tone icy and stern. "Put her in the dungeon. It's time we had some answers." Robert scowled, uncertainty reflected in his eyes. "Alpha, are you certain about this? Shouldn't we—Do as I say, Robert," I interrupted hi

Five years later. The sun rose in the morning, shining through the curtains and creating warm rays of light within our abode. I heard the birds singing outside, the soft chirping of crickets, and the quiet current of the river in the background. It passed a cozy and serene feeling within me. Rick was not with me. He had already risen to join the warriors in patrolling the border. The door slowly creaked open, and my children rushed in into my room, their voices together as they chorused, "Good morning, Mom!" My four-year-old eldest son, Edsel, yawned and regarded me with energy-filled eyes. My two-year-old little boy, Gian, rubbed his eyes in a playful way. "Mommy, I want pancakes!" he barked. I grinned, bending to kiss their foreheads. "Well then, let's have some pancakes now," I said, winking at them. They laughed and ran into the kitchen. "It's all mine! I won't share with brother!" Gian announced. A chuckle burst forth from my mouth. I turned to gaze at my oldest son, Edse

Bella… Rick spoke suddenly as he walked closer to her. "Can I ask you something? Why were you in the woods? Did someone chase you? Hurt you?" Bella gazed up at him, her ribcage rising and falling as she struggled with how much to tell him. Then, she made the decision. "I was pursued," she confessed, her voice gentle but firm. "Two of my old pack's warriors. I didn't know I was crossing your land." Rick's face changed to one of worry, then relaxed into something she couldn't quite identify. "Whatever it is," he said, his voice soft but authoritative, "I'm glad I was the one who found you. I've been waiting for you." Bella blinked in astonishment, her mouth opening as if to ask him, but he continued to speak before she could find her voice. "Bella… who is the child's owner?" His tone was infused with an unmistakable sadness, his dark eyes shining with unuttered pain. Her breath caught. A knot came into her throat, and her eyes blurred as the burden of his question bore down on h

  • Twice Fated   Chapter 8: Shadows of Jealousy

Bella sat silently on the balcony of Rick's room, gazing out over the sea of trees that seemed to go on forever into the horizon. The cool evening breeze swept across her skin, and for an instant, she allowed herself to be swept away by the memories of her childhood. Her parents had never kept anything from her. They'd discovered her as a baby, left in the forest. Her father had never known who her real parents were or why she'd been abandoned, but he'd loved her like she was his own. Her mother had been a different story—cold and distant, as though Bella herself was a painful reminder of something her mother couldn't articulate.Regardless of that, Bella had been raised near Georgina, the pack's Beta's biological daughter. They had been sisters, once, best friends who shared giggles and secrets. The daughters of the pack's Beta, they had grown up most of their lives in the company of Cole, the Alpha's sole son and Luna's son. The three had been best buddies, their friendship cemented d

  • Twice Fated   Chapter 7: Rick's POV

Rick's POVMy feet took me to the living room, my breathing in rough, jagged gasps. The walls descended on me like closing clouds, the crushing weight of my anger bearing down like a storm that I could not hold. I wanted something to drown out this fury, to incinerate the nauseating thoughts churning in my brain. Impulsively, I turned towards the bar, my hands shaking as I reached for the bottle of whiskey. The golden liquid churned in the glass as I poured, my hand trembling. The initial sip burned my throat, but it wasn't sufficient. Nothing could quench the fire raging within me. I poured another, and this time my hand trembled so violently that I spilled some. I didn't care. The heat of the whiskey was nothing against the fire burning in my chest. How dare he? How dare he put his hands on her? On what was mine? The idea of him, of the man who had touched her, claimed her, and branded her, filled me with a burning, blinding fury. All these years, I had waited for my mate. I had wit
