Father kept talking about the coronation of the silver pack, petering about it , saying I must go.I had no choice. My beta Levi came in, he was my childhood friend, his father was the formal beta of our pack , he decided to take over and I also took over from my father as the Alpha of Lockwood pack.

“Aren't you going to the coronation”Levi said , “am about going, he knew I was not interested in going.I needed to represent my pack.Levi’s mate Amaya, came in,they were great couples, she is pregnant with Levi's pup, I haven't found my mate, l hope she's safe wherever she is,.

“It's time to go Gale”..., we set out , I heard the New Alpha is known for his pride and ego , I never had a liking for him.

I stood at the edge of the grand hall, nursing a glass of wine, as I observed the coronation festivities,as a visiting dignitary from a neighbouring pack.

The new Alpha , resplendent in his formal attire, stood at the center of the hall, basking in congratulations of his pack members .I watched with a mixture of curiosity and detachment ,my mind wondering about my own pack’s affairs.

Little did I know , a surprise awaited me, a gift bestowed upon me by the new Alpha, one that would change my life forever.

The coronation festivities had long ended and I'd returned to my usual routine. As a member and Alpha of the Lockwood pack, I was tasked with overseeing our pack's trade with neighbouring packs.

My days were filled with meetings, negotiations and other occasional patrols of our pack border. It was a demanding but rewarding job,one that allowed me to serve my pack and protect its interest.

As I walked through the park's central square,I exchanged greetings with my fellow pack members. They were a familiar sight and I felt a sense of comfort and belonging to them.

But despite the familiarity, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. A sense of restlessness has been growing inside me , one that I couldn't explain.

Unknowingly, my life was about to take a dramatic turn , that would upend everything I knew.

As I entered the chambers, I saw the new Alpha standing by the side of the window with a small smile on his face,”Gale, thank you for coming, I have a special gift for you , one which would bring great joy”.

He gestured for a figure standing in the shadows , as the figure moved forward, my heart skipped a bit, I felt it; the unmistakable spark of the mate bond , my wolf was all hopping, happy that he had finally found his mate.

My heart racing , I struggled to maintain a neutral expression, I couldn't let the Alpha suspect that I'd recognize her as my mate. Not yet.

I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself .”Ah,thank you, Alpha,” my voice steady. “I'm… honored by your gift “.

The Alpha smiled, seemingly pleased to himself. The young woman was so delicate, she had green piercing eyes, which was filled with a hint of fear,of uncertainty but she looked away.

I felt a pang of guilt , knowing I was pretending not to recognize her as my mate , but I had to be cautious. The Alpha's motives were unclear, and I needed time to figure out what was going on.

As I stood there pretending to be nonchalant, my mind was racing. The mate bond was intense, overwhelming and utterly exhilarating.I felt like I was punched in the gut, my emotions swirling in a chaotic storm.

I couldn't believe it, my mate was standing right in the front of me but I had to pretend like I didn't recognize her,It was a big torture.

My eyes locked into hers, drinking the sight of her, she was beautiful with piercing green eyes and long brown curly hair. Her delicate and slender figure made her look like a proclene doll.

But it was more than that , I could sense her strength, resilience, determination , she was a survivor, warrior.

“ And she was mine”

I felt a growl growing in my throat, “Kane we need to calm down”, “mate, mate,” we need to protect mate.I calmed him down ,I took a deep breath, I needed to be smart, I had to be careful.

Thank you.. Alpha, I'll take care of her, “Moreover she's just an asset”, Kane groaned slightly, I calmed him, “ yes she is…”.

The corrective force did not arrive like an invasion. It arrived like recognition.Across every layer of existence, a pressure equalized—not outward, not inward, but across. The observer registered it first, its vast perceptual net stuttering as something passed through without resistance, without announcement, without permission. This was not an entity that announced itself. It was a function.Older than observers. Older than systems that required watching. It existed for one purpose only:to resolve unsustainable asymmetry.Autumn felt it before it acted. Not as fear—but as familiarity. She had brushed against this principle once before, long ago, when she chose contradiction over collapse. When she refused to become a solution the world could optimize around. This force was the echo of that refusal—the price deferred. Now it had come to collect. The child screamed again, but this time the sound fractured mid-formation. The convergence around it jittered, destabilized by the arriva

  • Twice Marked,Twice Loved    Chapter 55: Convergence Debt

The world did not wait for consent.Once the observer’s attention fixed on the child, probability tightened like a snare. Outcomes that once drifted now bent inward. Futures collapsed into fewer viable paths. Choice still existed—but only in the way a river chooses which rock to break against.Autumn felt the pull like a pressure headache across existence.Fragments of her—ideas, instincts, half-memories embedded in people who had once brushed against her influence—began to align involuntarily. Not toward her. Toward the child. The world was doing what it had always done best: minimizing instability by externalizing cost.A center was required. If Autumn would not be whole—Then the child would be made sufficient.Amaya’s body reacted before her mind caught up. Milk dried. Blood chemistry shifted. Her connection to the infant inverted—not nourishing, but siphoning. The child no longer drew sustenance from her; it rewrote what sustenance meant.Nutrients became information. Comfort be

  • Twice Marked,Twice Loved    Chapter 54: The Successor Problem

The world noticed the absence before it understood it.Autumn’s dispersal did not feel like loss at first—it felt like silence after strain. The kind that follows a storm when the air has not yet decided what shape it will take. Consequence still existed, but it no longer curved inward toward a single axis. Decisions landed unevenly. Some carried unbearable weight. Others slipped free.People began to argue about why. They named it chaos. Or freedom. Or punishment. Or mercy.None of them were correct. What had vanished was not power. It was a reference.Without Autumn as a unifying contradiction, the world lacked a center it could push against. Resistance became local. Meaning became contextual. Survival stopped being shared. That was when the fractures deepened.Smoothing zones did not disappear—they specialized. Regions that had accepted comfort stabilized further, becoming eerily consistent. The weather calmed. Birthrates normalized. Conflict declined. Innovation slowed to a polit

  • Twice Marked,Twice Loved    Chapter 53: The Shape of What Was Chosen

The one who accepted did not glow. There was no flare of power, no visible ascension, no mark that separated them from the world they stood in.That was the most dangerous part. The change manifested as absence of strain. In a small settlement far from the ruins—far from wolves, gods, and fractures—a woman who had lost two children to the earlier distortions felt the weight lift. Grief did not vanish, but it no longer demanded anything of her. It no longer shaped her decisions, no longer bent her posture or haunted her sleep. Her sorrow became inert.Manageable.Around her, the air stabilized. Probability smoothed. Minor divergences—choices that once branched wildly—collapsed back into narrow, gentle outcomes. People argued less. Took fewer risks. Felt calmer.Safer.The observer did not intervene further. It did not need to.Acceptance propagated on its own.Autumn felt the ripple spread like frost through soil. Not fast—but relentless. Each acceptance made the next easier, conseque

The observer did not advance. It leaned in.Autumn felt the shift ripple through the dispersed pieces of herself—every bond tightening, every shared memory humming as if plucked by an unseen hand. The world did not tremble this time. It adjusted. As though reality itself were bracing, learning how to exist under sustained attention. That frightened her more than collapse ever had.Systems could be fought.Gods could be defied. But adaptation?Adaptation meant endurance. The absence in the sky refined itself—not into shape, but into contrast. Edges sharpened where none had existed, negative space defining its own boundaries. The observer was no longer sampling randomly. It had identified stable points of resistance and begun triangulating between them.Autumn.Gale.The child.Three anomalies forming a pattern.Across the ruins, wolves began to experience divergence not as chaos, but as choice pressure.
