Chapter Eighteen

As she fixed what she believed was her last order for the tenuous day, Anne sighed. The others, Lola, Jake and her other employees had all gone home. After the last person left, she went back to the storeroom which had now been better furnished to include a bed and air-conditioning and spotted her boys sleeping peacefully. She hated to see them lying on wood and she didn't trust any babysitter, so she'd tried to make the room a little more liveable for them.

After locking up and packing everything she would need at home, she wondered how she would take her two sleeping sons on the public bus.

Damn. She needed a car. Fast.

But for now, an Uber would have to do.

She carried them both, now unconscious and heavy, over her shoulders and staggered to the door, also holding a bag in her hand. The boys didn't even flinch when she knocked over two tables, hard.
