Chapter Forty-nine

When she heard their footsteps and their voices and the voices of their children talking over one another, she suddenly felt out of place. Rubbing her arms together with her eyes darting everywhere, she wondered if meeting her here first would be the best idea. But what if Asher had already told them she was there. Why was she stressing over unnecessary things?!

"Dad's not here yet. I asked him to give me a break, but if he hears you're both here, then there's no stopping him," she heard Asher say with some sort of amusement in his voice.
