~Liam~

I lower my phone on seeing Red walk into the study.

“Boss,” he calls, his face lowered.

“Yes, go on Red. Anything new?” I ask, leaning up on my seat.

“Boss. He found out.”

I stare at him, his words slowly sinking in. I stand up from my desk when it finally dawns.

“When did this happen?”

“Been a while, boss. But not too long ago.”

A pang of annoyance flashes over me. “Why didn't you tell me?”

“But…he thinks I'm working for lady Cath.”

I frown. “He thinks you are working for my mother? Why?”

“He probably doesn't think you can go this far.”

I scoff. The bástard underestimates me. He thinks I'm riding on my mom's coattails.

I planted Red to watch him and report all his moves to me. But he's been playing it quite smart so far. I know he's going to slip soon.

“Boss…” Red's voice breaks into my thoughts.

I nod him to speak.

“Are you wary of him…are you afraid Nathan will take your place?”

“What?”

“Ah. Forgive me boss. I shouldn't cross the line.”

“Get out!

Fool. Why would I

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    What's wrong with everyone

~Hannah~“Besides, there is something you'll have to do for me. Maybe then I can fully accept you as my daughter in law,” Lady Cath says, finally turning to face me. She set down the glass cup she was holding, sat down across me and crossed her legs. Her eyes were crimson from the effect of the drink.I didn't even realize she could drink. Whatever happened at the emergency council meeting was really taking a toil on her. “Liam…take care of him,” she said, quietly. At first I tried to process what she just said. It didn't make sense. Especially not when she never accepted me as her daughter in law in the first place. And most importantly, she preferred that I didn't tell his son how to live. So I asked, “How–”“I know I haven't been the best mother in law but you must know, that you are in this family today is all because of me. Not Liam. I allowed him to marry you.”Typical Cathylene Durk. Would she ever let go of her pride?I said nothing as I allowed her to speak. But it seem

~Hannah~I'm in the room when I heard Liam barking outside–at the maids.Immediately I feel my wolf’s distress wince. She used to do this when she was warning me of an impending danger without needing to say a word. Confirming Nina's warning, Liam storms into our room the following second. He angrily flings something and it falls right in my front. My contraceptives. How did he…Sylvia. That bị́xch. “What is that?” he growls, his eyes burning. “I–”Before I can finish, he starts to approach me. Slowly and menacingly. Each step he takes drives fear into me. The old Liam is back. The same Liam that had no control over his anger and obsession. But right now I know it's my fault. He's my mate and husband and I went behind him to take contraceptives.I should have been more careful knowing I had so many enemies in this house. I should never have let him see this. I hear the sound of a clink. Is that his belt?I bend my head and shut my eyes, expecting the worst. Like I'd always do

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Handbag

~Nathan~I have never been a filial son to my foster mother. Probably never would. While I was growing up, I tried so hard to please her. I tried so hard to make her look at me the way she looked at Liam. And maybe talk to me just a quarter of the way she talks to Liam. But I was a child and foolish. I should have known earlier that it was one of those wishes that never came to pass. Clenching my teeth, I push the door open. Seated on the bed is Harinth with my very own foster mother in his fvcking laps. His hands roaming all over her as he sucks her lips like a hungry beast! What a sight. No wonder. Wasn't it just too odd that they were so inseparable?Already the sounds I heard suggested to me I was bound to see this sort of scene but now that I'm seeing it, I am completely gutted. Cathylene is the first to notice me. Harinth is too deep in his shị he didn't hear me come in. She jumps off of him, her face beet red. But then she goes from embarrassed to angry. Probably becau

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    So painful

~Nathan~Sneering, I kick Joan away. As he lands on the ground, I look towards the place I saw Hannah. But I don't see her again. My legs reel forward. Even though I can hear Bega and Joan yell loudly, I can't make out their words. My whole mind is fixed on the exact spot I just saw Hannah. Where did she go?I charge into a nearby shop.“Did you see a girl…a lady standing here…” I ask the shop owner pointing there. My heartbeat is twice normal. “A lady? No one was standing here.”“Did you really see well? She was just right there!”“No one was standing there,” he answered, the second time.My eyes dart around. I notice how I am being looked at like a maniac. I turn around and stagger out of the shop. I can't believe this. I'm sure I saw Hannah. She made me stop…she stopped me from becoming a murderer.Wait…I halt. A knowing feeling washed over me. If Hannah wasn't there, then who did I see?Goosebumps scatter all over my body. Suddenly, loud echoes begin to ring in my ears.

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Perhaps my fault

~Hannah~I'm finally resuming work after a full week of being home. Doing what? Serving people because my dear husband won the first round of Alpha elections and I needed to be a good and exemplary wife. Even though I won't smell the Luna title. Nina whines at the thought. I have never seen anyone that shows off like Cathylene does. If extravagant was a person, she'd be the one. She made sure the celebration was so loud that even her enemies wished they were present. Every single news outlet carried it. Every group on the Internet talked about it. Most prominent men from nearby Packs were present. Respectable companies came too. At this point, Liam's chances of winning the final round is automatically boosted. If not guaranteed. I admit, her influence is crazy. But now it makes me worried too. Because I really can't imagine what she would do if Liam ends up not becoming the Alpha. But then, I don't see any chance for Jaxon either. Unlike Cathylene, his parents are not the t
