~Nathan~

“Throw herself at men like a slụ́t?”

I almost lost it at dinner.. The only thing that stopped me from smashing that lunatic’s head on the dinning table was Hannah's warning to not get involved. Fuvk. Liam Durk is a lunatic. Has always been. Everyday it irks me that he ended up with someone as beautiful and perfect like Hannah.

“Boss, would you mind if I drop you off in front of the company or the parking basement?” My driver and secretary, Red, inquires.

“Wherever is good with you.” I shrug.

He ends up pulling into the parking lot in the basement. Hands me a sachet. I raise my eyebrows in question.

“Your pills, boss. Lady Cathylene says I should make sure you take them.”

Stupid pills.

I collect the pills and he keeps looking at me through the rearview to make sure I swallow them which I pretend to do but spit out on my way to the elevators.

“Welcome back boss.”

“Good to have you back, sir.”

“Morning boss.”

Greetings from every angle echo as I make it to my office. It's been a whole three years since I stepped foot here. It still feels alien to me–Here.

I halfheartedly nod to their greetings. They all pretend to respect me but as soon as I turn my back, they go back to calling me names. My beast’s sharp senses allow me to hear it all and because I don't take Cathylene Durk's forced pills most of the time, my wolf's senses are stronger even when my beast is half conscious inside me.

“Boss, you have been demoted to Liam's assistant. I got a message from lady Durk.” Red says to me as a matter of fact.

“What?”

“She said something about helping Liam…”

“I'm right here.” Cathylene Durk walks into my office majestically with her PA and Liam. “I can see you don't like the adjustments I've made but you must know this is for the best. This is temporary but of course you can always assume even a better position once you prove your worth. This–” she takes some documents from Harinth, her personal assistant and secretary. Harinth is also her closest friend and an elder of the Pack. “This is an important contract. We must win it by all means. Help Liam to get them to sign the contract with us and I'll…maybe consider you worthy of the managing director.”

I'm short of words as I feel my beast stirs inside me. Did I return after three years to be a slave to Liam again?

“Like I said, do not cause trouble and assist Liam properly. Winning this contract is very important and must not be ruined.”

I glance at the front page of the document which has the name of the company to persuade before I hand it over to Red. Cathylene never had issues winning clients on her own. Her including me in it makes me wonder her real reason.

Liam pulls her aside. “Mum, don't you trust me? I've been doing it ever since he fuvking disappeared.”

“Liam Honey, I trust you. This is a huge deal. And soon you'll understand why I'm letting him into it.”

“We'll use my car. Red is driving,” I say when we are ready to meet the client. Liam looks about to protest but I enter the car and shut the door.

Inside the car, he scoffs as he reads the documents. “I see now.” He chuckles, a smug spreading in his face.

I lean up, sensing something suspicious. “Red, which company is the rival?”

“Blackwood company.”

Shị́t. Jaxon's company.

“Chairman Bradley’s son, Mario is the one standing in for the meeting,” Red reports.

“And Blackwood company? Any idea if they have already met them?”

“I made sure to fix a meeting with them first before blackwood can make a move.”

Liam hisses. “Sending his little chap to negotiate with us. Isn't he being ridiculous and rude?”

“Mr Mario says we should meet him near the cooking school in a restaurant in the next twenty minutes.” Red reports again.

“What? And he made us arrive early.” Liam fumes. “Isn't that Hannah?” He adds leaning up to stare through the window.

My body and eyes already shuffle outside at Hannah's name. My heart skips. She usually hates black but she's dressed in a long black dress that cling tenderly to her slim frame. Her black hair is flowing down her shoulders. She's talking to Mario in front of the restaurant and I can't make out what they are saying but she's smiling. Which makes my chest tighten. Liam is boiling beside me.

“I said it. That's all she does. Seduce men!”

My teeth clench hard.

“Isn't that the mọ́dafvcker we are supposed to meet?” He starts to move.

“And where the fvck you going?”

“Going to do what I'm supposed to do! Get Hannah away from that mọ́dafuvking jerk!”

“Hold yourself dude. We are here for business and you wanna go pick a fight with the man we need his damn signature?”

“She's my wife! How dare he flịrt with her?”

He gets out of the car.

Fuvk. I hate this. “Liam!”

He reaches them and pulls Hannah away. “Mr Mario.

Mario frowns. Hannah is jittery. My body curls as I watch the discomfort in her face due to Liam's grip.

“I sent a message to your man. We are supposed to be meeting in the next– ten minutes and why–” Mario glances at his wristwatch and at Liam's grip on Hannah with displeasure.

“She’s my wife,” sneers Liam.

Hannah snatches her arm. “I'm sorry, Mr Mario. It was great speaking to you today and I appreciate your offer but like I said I'll speak to the director about it. Goodbye.”

Hannah is already walking away when Liam pulls her back. “What were you talking about?” He questions authoritatively.

“Hey, listen…are you going to disrespect your wife–”

“Mind your business, Mr Mario. Go on and wait for us in the restaurant.”

Mario looks pissed as he walks away.

“Isn't this supposed to be an important contract?” I slam at Liam.

“I decide what's important or not.” He retorts back. “We will see at home,” he glares at Hannah.

By the time we arrive at the restaurant, Jaxon is already with Mario. Smiles on his face as he hands Mario a pen to sign the contract.

Damnit.

“Mr Mario, you can't make your decision without listening or reading our deal.”

“Nothing to read. I’d never work with a company that has someone like him as a director.” he glares at Liam.

Don't worry, you are not the only one that wishes to smash his empty head on a rock.

“Liam Durk is one man. There are many workers in Durk company. Please reconsider.”

“Too late. I'd rather sign with Blackwood.”

“What do I have to do to make you change your mind?”

“Hmmm.” His forehead wrinkles as a smirk tug his lips. “I want his wife, Hannah, spearheading this contract, and him taken out of the project, then I'll probably reconsider.”

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Festival

~Nathan~I have been trying to sight Hannah but she's so damn busy in the cooking area. Helping with cooking and arranging things with some other ladies. I wonder if Cathylene Durk put her up to it or she volunteered. Either way, I don't like how she's been so busy without catching a breath for herself. “You are missing her?” My beast taunts. “Shut up.” “Oh really? You sure you don't need me keeping you busy?” Sure I need some distractions but definitely not from my beast. He'll only make me miss Hannah the more. Full moon festival is finally here. The first since my return. Every member of the Pack is gathered in the center of the town–sort of an open field surrounded with tents. The night is lively. The moon is gradually filling the sky with its roundness. I admit, I may not like this pack but the full moon festival is something I enjoy and always look forward to here. Some men are selected to hunt in their wolves form. They are to enter the nearby woods and return an hour or

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Lose it

~Hannah~“Liam Durk! Get yourself out here!” Cathylene roars marching into the living room. As expected, she’s very furious. Her phones are ringing non-stop. Harinth is beside her, suggesting things and telling her to calm down. Which I doubt she will be doing any time soon. Jaxon Blackwood’s prospect of becoming the next Alpha has tremendously jumped, leading Liam by a big margin whilst Liam's has drastically reduced. And not just that. Liam faces the threat of being removed as a candidate. This will make Jaxon the ultimate winner. “Where's that jerk?” She yells and spins at the sound of Nathan's entrance. “Are you happy your best friend has the chance to win my son?” She slams at Nathan. “I sent him on an errand,” Harinth chimes in calmly. Cathylene hiss. I stare at Nathan, the scene at the yard replaying in my head. Does he know Olivia is his daughter? He can't know. He should never know. Liam looks downcasted.“I will take care of this. Don't fret.” Cathylene assures him befor

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Curse and conditions

~Hannah~“Lastly, before I sign this, one more thing. Apologize to her,” Mario says to Liam. Liam gives a mock laugh. “What?”Today is the final meeting for the paperwork of the deal before the actual construction work will begin and Liam was allowed to be present. Nathan is waiting in the hotel lobby. “Listen to me, Mr Mario. I'm grateful to work with your company but hey, listen, this is family business and you should know when to not cross the line,” Liam grits. “Then, I'm afraid we have no deal.” Mario shrugs. It's as if he's intentionally torturing Liam which a part of me is enjoying. But I also know how bad it can be. Liam is overly possessive, jealous and with a big pride. “Em, Mister Mario, aren't you going a bit too far?” Cathylene steps forward. Mario glances around feigning confusion. “Am I?” he laughs. “Chairlady Durk. We all have our conditions in business. You are a business woman and you know this.”“I do, but this is getting more personal and I'm afraid your fathe

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Guilt

~Hannah~“Me? Spearhead a project?” I ask in shock. “What were you both discussing?” Liam glares at me. “This is not the time for this, Liam,” Cathylene tells him off. “Mom, don't tell me you will allow her to negotiate with that jerk?” “Why don't you look at it this way…she shows her face and we get our contract.”Liam snarls. “Why would he want someone like her to spearhead a huge project? That fool just wants to show authority!”“Yes, because he knows we need him and you gave him the chance to behave that way when you refuse to put yourself in order.” Cathylene scowls. “And if he tries to do something funny? He was flirting with Hannah!”“So? We should lose out on this project to Blackwood?” Cathylene slams, enraged. Lose out to Backwood? There are things that are constant and everyone knows. One of them is how much Cathylene hates the Blackwood family. She hates them so much because she thinks they always copy the Durk in everything. The two families are into construction an

~Hannah~He grips my dress and the fragile linen material rips apart. I wince as he grasp my wrist. “You are my wife and you belong to me. Does that jerk fuvk better than me? Does he have more influence than me? Answer me!”My body shakes as I wrap my hands around me in defiance. Liam is shocked. I have never defiled him. I have never denied him access to my body.He stops, darkness clouding his eyes. “A woman cheats on her husband and has been deceiving him with another man's daughter…what do you think you and Olivia will be reduced to, once another ear hears of this…”My body recoil. The thing I fear the most…My dignity tarnishing…Olivia facing backlash in the future…Suddenly my claws shoot out and my eyes glow golden. In one swift action, my claws dig into his chest. “Nina! Stay calm!” I beg Nina unable to control myself.Cathylene Durk makes everyone in the house take scent blockers and strength restrictor pills.
