Chapter 117

I must have fallen asleep without even knowing it because by the time I opened my eyes, everything around me was dark and it was already night.

My head was hurting badly, and I felt a tight band around it. When I touched it, I realized Tess had wrapped a bandage there. She had taken care of the injury for me.

I looked to my side and saw her sleeping on the floor, right beside the bed. She looked so tired as she was curled up like a little ball. Her mouth was slightly open, and her hand was still on the edge of the bed like she fell asleep while watching over me or patting me to sleep.

Even though my head hurt and my body still ached, I knew I had to leave. I couldn’t stay here in the pack.

I didn’t want to wait for Kaden to come back and try anything else. I didn’t want to hear more talks about mating ceremonies or demons or about saving the pack. I just wanted to be free and be on my own.
