“There she is, that's her.”

Emily's brows furrowed in confusion as she watched the young ladies scurry off with whispers.

Were they talking about her?

“No, it can't be.” She thought to herself.

From the elevator ride to the hallways, it kept feeling like people were giving her stares and whispers.

As soon as she stepped into the office, it went dead silent with all eyes fixated on her.

Emily's heart felt heavy and her steps became hard.

What had she done?

The whispers began.

“She has the guts to show her face here.”

“It knew there was something incredibly off about her.”

“There's no way she's not getting fired. So many people have lodged complaints about her.”

Just as she took her seat, Sean rushed to her.

“Is it true?” he asked with eager eyes and alarmed ears.

“What are you talking about?” Emily asked in genuine confusion.

Sean handed her his phone.

Emily's hands trembled as she stared at the screen.

It was the company's anonymous gossip forum and some

Ava’s POVHis words hung in the air like a bomb that hadn’t gone off yet.“I’d rather lose him than lose you without ever trying.”My chest constricted, the sound of my heartbeat thundering in my ears. I should’ve screamed at him, thrown him out of my office, reminded him of every reason why this, whatever this was, could never, ever happen. Instead, I stood frozen, the heat of his confession burning through me like wildfire. He wasn’t supposed to say that, not Ezra, not the man who had shoved me away with walls made of steel and loyalty, who had made it painfully clear that I was forbidden and yet here he was, standing in front of me, his voice low, his eyes fierce, like he meant every syllable.“Ezra,” I whispered, my throat tight. “You can’t……”“I can,” he cut me off, stepping closer, his shadow swallowing mine. His scent, woody, musk, and something unmistakably him and it hit me like a punch

Ezra’s povIt was glaring that she was aoviding me but should I not be fucking happy? That's what I wanted. She is my friend's sister and Alex would kill me if he finds out that I had anything to do with his sister. I looked at the girl who was lying beside me. On a normal day, I would be ready to go multiple rounds with her but after the first time, it was not what it had been. All that I could think about was Ava, even when I am balls deep in another girl. This was crazy. I sat up from the bed, I needed to wash the sweat off and maybe it would help with the guilt. As I walked to the bathroom the girl stared in her sleep and I paused to look at her. I had picked her up from the bar where I had gone to drink. The more I stared at her, the more I regretted my decisions. I sighed and walked into the bathroom, dropped down my towel, and turned on the shower. The water flowed down from my head, washing off the sweat from my body. After showering, I glanced at myself in the mirro

  • UNBREAK MY HEART   Chapter 58

Emily’s POV I hate work days Not because of the work though ... .God knows the workload here was enough to drown a person….but because it had a way of dragging all my insecurities to the surface and today was worse than usual. The whispering hadn’t stopped since last week, and no matter how hard I tried to keep my head down, I could feel the stares burning into my back. “Heard she only got here two months ago.” “Must be nice having the president’s favor.” “Favor? Please. She’s sleeping her way up, can’t you tell?” The whispers weren’t subtle. They weren’t meant to be. I kept my eyes glued to the file in my hands as if the endless columns of numbers could shield me from their venom. When I agreed to this job, I knew it wouldn’t be easy but I thought the hard part would be learning the ropes, meeting deadlines, and proving myself, not…this, n

Alex ‘s pov 'What the hell is wrong with you?” Ava stormed into my office fuming. I looked at her like she had gone mad. “Let me call you back…” I said to the other person at the other end of the call. “What were you thinking? Why would you just wake one morning and try to reconstruct the fucking company. Do you know how much work that is?” she yelled at me. It was a normal thing for Ava when she is stressed and I have learnt to deal with it by not engaging. I sat in my chair as I watched her pace around the office angrily. “Are you not going to say anything?” She asked in a harsh tone. I shook my head, “Nope…..I don't have to explain myself to you, Ava. I am the president of the fucking company.” She glared at me, “I also have rights in the fucking decision making of the company.” “Which you had…you employed

  • UNBREAK MY HEART   Chapter 56

Ava’s PovIt has been a long fucking day of avoiding the man who thought he could play with my feelings. After seeing him in his element, it dawned on me that he was right. I could never be what he wanted.I wanted more from him and it was something he wasn't willing to break his friendship with my brother and I respect that. I sat in my office, signing the documents. I heard a knock on my door. “Come in…’The door was pushed open and Emily walked in. “Hey girl…” I greeted. “Hey…..” her voice was low, she didn't look happy. “What happened?” I asked as she slumped down on the couch which was placed in my office. “I need a fucking drink. Get me something strong.” she said. I stood up and walked to the bar, pouring the whiskey into a glass. I walked up to her and handed her the glass. Just then my phone went off with a notification and a kno

Alex’s POV Control is a delicate thing. People thought it came from power, money, position, dominance but real control was subtler than that. It was about anticipation, knowing what pieces would move before they even touched the board and Emily… Emily was one of those pieces I couldn’t afford to miscalculate. I watched her across the desk, her back too straight, her expression careful, though I could see the tension vibrating just beneath her skin. She had dressed like she wanted to convince me she belonged here—black dress, low heels, minimal jewelry, professional, almost severe. If she thought it would intimidate me, she was wrong. If anything, I found it fascinating. “Work in close contact with me?” she repeated, her voice low, wary. “Yes.” I leaned back in my chair, studying her the way a hunter studies a deer caught halfway across
