"I know it does," Ariana said. "But Maya, I need you to trust me. We were friends before your accident. I would never hurt you."

Maya stared at Ariana for a long moment. Something in her mind was screaming that this wasn't right, that Ariana was lying. But the memories were still too unclear.

"Okay," Maya said finally. "Maybe you're right. Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me."

"That's exactly what it is," Ariana said, squeezing Maya's hands. "You need to stop thinking about these false memories and focus on getting better."

After Maya left, Ariana sat back down on her bed with a satisfied smile. Maya's memories were trying to return, but they weren't clear enough yet for her to be dangerous.

And in three days, it wouldn't matter anyway. By then, Ariana would have Tommy's blood, and she would be powerful enough to deal with anyone who tried to stop her.

But as Ariana was making her plans, she didn't know that Maya had left something behind in her room. A small recording device

Ariana woke up with a gasp, her heart beating fast and sweat covering her face. She had just had the most terrible dream. In it, she was trying to hurt little Tommy, but something went wrong. She lost her pregnancy, and Tommy died too."It was just a dream," Ariana said to herself, touching her belly where her unborn child was growing. "Just a bad dream."But the dream felt so real. She could still remember the feeling of panic when everything went wrong. Ariana shook her head, trying to forget the scary images. She looked at the clock on her bedside table. It was early morning, and she could hear people moving around in the house. Today was the day Austin and Rosemary would go to the important pack business meeting in the next town. They would be gone for most of the day. This was her chance. The full moon was tonight, and she needed Tommy's blood for the ritual.Ariana got dressed and went to the kitchen. • UNWANTED TRUE LUNA    CHAPTER : THE PLANS

"What consequences?""The person who steals the power becomes cursed. They may live longer and be stronger, but they lose their soul. They become empty inside, unable to feel love or happiness. They become monsters."Ariana pretended to look horrified. "That sounds terrible."But inside, she was thinking that she was already empty. She had lost Austin to Rosemary, lost her position as Luna, lost everything she had ever wanted. What did she care about her soul?"When is the next full moon?" Ariana asked, trying to sound casual."In three days," her grandmother said. "But Ariana, you must promise me you won't try to hurt that child. No good can come from such darkness.""Of course not," Ariana said quickly. "I would never hurt a child."But as she said the words, Ariana was already planning exactly how she would get Tommy's blood during the full moon.Back at the pack house, Austin had returned from his business trip. He found Rosemary in their bedroom, sitting on the bed with a worried

  • UNWANTED TRUE LUNA    CHAPTER: SECRETS IN THE SHADOWS

Tommy pressed his small face against the cool window glass, watching Ariana disappear into the forest. Something felt wrong about what he had seen. The scary lady who was always mean to his mama had looked very sick when she grabbed his arm. But now she was walking away like nothing was wrong."Mama," Tommy called softly.Rosemary was in the hallway, still cleaning up the broken glass from Ariana's room with Sarah the maid."What is it, sweetheart?" Rosemary asked, walking to Tommy's room."The mean lady is walking in the forest," Tommy said, pointing out the window. "But I thought she was sick."Rosemary looked out the window, but Ariana was already gone. "Maybe she needed some fresh air, Tommy. Sometimes when people are sick, a little walk can help them feel better."But Tommy shook his head. "No, Mama. She wasn't sick anymore. After I touched her, my hand got warm and tingly. Like when I touch hurt animals and they get better."Rosemary's heart stopped. She knelt down next to her s

After they left, Ariana sat alone in her room, staring at her perfectly healed hand in amazement."What just happened?" she whispered to herself. She looked at the spot on her palm where the cut had been. The skin was smooth and perfect, like nothing had ever happened. Then she touched her throat. The fake mate mark was completely gone. She couldn't feel any pain or burning sensation at all.Ariana stood up and walked to her mirror. She looked healthy and strong again. The dark circles under her eyes were gone, and her skin was glowing."Tommy," she said to her reflection. "That little boy healed me."Ariana's mind raced as she realized what this meant. Rosemary's son had some kind of healing power. Not just any healing power - something that could cure anything, even magical curses."His power can heal any poison," Ariana said, remembering how the fake mate mark had been removed from her body. "Any curse. Any injury."A slow, dangerous smile spread across Ariana's face. This changed

  • UNWANTED TRUE LUNA    CHAPTER : THE BLOOD HEALING

Three hours later, David quietly carried Ariana's unconscious body back to the pack house. He had convinced Luna and the mysterious man to let him return Ariana to her room, claiming that if she died in the cave, it would raise too many questions."She's barely breathing," David whispered to himself as he placed Ariana on her bed. "Maybe it's better this way. If she dies, at least my child dies with her, and Austin will never know the truth."But David was wrong about what Ariana was thinking. As he left her room and closed the door behind him, Ariana's eyes opened. She was weak and in terrible pain, but she was conscious. And she was still planning to tell Austin everything. The fake mate mark felt like acid in her throat. Every breath was torture, and she could taste blood in her mouth. But Ariana forced herself to stay awake. She had to survive long enough to confess her crimes and warn Austin about what was coming.Hours passed slowly. Ariana drifted in and out of consciousness, f
