She dropped to her knees beside Maya. The injured woman wasn't moving. Her eyes were closed, and there was so much blood. Rosemary reached out to touch her face, to see if she was still breathing.

"Maya, please wake up," she whispered, her hands shaking as she touched Maya's cheek. "Please be okay."

Maya's skin was cold, but Rosemary could feel a small breath coming from her nose. She was alive, but barely.

"Help!" Rosemary screamed as loud as she could. "Somebody help! Maya is hurt!"

She heard footsteps running toward her. Fast, heavy footsteps.

"What happened?" a voice shouted.

Rosemary looked up to see Ariana running toward her. Ariana's face looked shocked, but there was something else in her eyes. Something that made Rosemary feel sick.

"Maya is hurt," Rosemary said, her voice breaking. "I found her like this. She's bleeding so much."

Ariana stopped when she saw Maya on the ground. She looked at Rosemary, then at Maya, then back at Rosemary. Her eyes went wide.
