CHAPTER : FOCUSE

"That's not the point," Austin said. "Those men could have killed you."

"Well maybe that would solve all your problems," Rosemary said, tears starting to form in her eyes.

Something in Austin's expression changed. The anger was still there, but now there was something else too. Something that looked like pain.

Without saying another word, Austin picked Rosemary up in his arms and carried her to his car.

"What are you doing?" Rosemary asked.

"Taking you home," Austin said simply.

"But my car-"

"Alex can get it later."

Austin drove through the dark streets with Rosemary sitting quietly in the passenger seat. The silence between them was heavy and uncomfortable. He kept looking at her from the corner of his eye, but she was staring out the window, refusing to look at him.

"Rosemary," Austin said softly. "We need to talk about what happened tonight."

"I don't want to talk," Rosemary replied without turning her head.
