Austin had not left the hospital for three days. He cancelled all his business meetings and pack meetings just to stay close to Rosemary. He barely ate or slept. All he did was sit by her bed and watch the machines that were keeping her alive.

Alex tried to make him go home and shower, but Austin refused.

"I'm not leaving her," Austin said. "What if she wakes up and I'm not here?"

"Austin, you need to take care of yourself too," Alex said. "You look terrible."

But Austin didn't care how he looked. All that mattered was Rosemary.

On the third day, Dr. Peterson came into the room to check on Rosemary. Austin stood up immediately.

"How is she doing?" Austin asked desperately.

Dr. Peterson looked at Rosemary's chart and then at the machines. His face was very serious.

"Austin, I need to be honest with you," Dr. Peterson said. "She's in critical condition. I've tried everything I can think of, but she just doesn't have the healing abilities that we werewolves do."

Austin felt his heart sin

  • UNWANTED TRUE LUNA    CHAPTER : PLEASE BELIEVE ME

Alex rushed over to the bed with a big smile on his face. "How are you feeling?" "Better," Rosemary said. "Alex, did you find out anything about who attacked me?" Alex looked at Austin, then back at Rosemary. "We have some information, but we're still investigating." Austin could tell that Alex was keeping something from them. "Alex, what did you find out?" Alex looked uncomfortable. "Maybe we should talk about this later, when Rosemary is feeling stronger." "No," Rosemary said firmly. "I want to know what's happening. This is my life we're talking about." Alex sighed. "Okay. I talked to some pack members, and they saw David meeting with two strange men on the night you were attacked. He gave them money." Austin's anger flared up again. "I knew it was David." "But that's not all," Alex continued. "I also found out that David has been meeting with other Alpha wolves from different packs. He's been telling them that Austin is weak because he married a human." Rosemary

But Rosemary didn't respond. Her skin was getting pale and cold, and Austin could barely feel her pulse. Austin quickly called Alex again. This time Alex answered on the first ring. "Austin? What's going on? I saw you called-" "Alex, I need help right now," Austin said desperately. "Rosemary's been attacked. She's unconscious and bleeding. We're on Forest Road, about two miles from the house." "What?" Alex said. "I'm coming right now. Don't move her." "Hurry," Austin said. "I think she's dying." Austin hung up and looked down at Rosemary. She was so pale and still. He could feel her life slipping away. "Please don't leave me," Austin whispered to her. "I'm sorry about everything. I'm sorry I made your life so difficult. But please don't leave me." Austin held Rosemary close to his chest and waited for Alex to arrive. He kept talking to her, hoping she could hear him. "I love you," Austin said. "I know I haven't been saying it enough lately, but I love you more than an

"That's not the point," Austin said. "Those men could have killed you." "Well maybe that would solve all your problems," Rosemary said, tears starting to form in her eyes. Something in Austin's expression changed. The anger was still there, but now there was something else too. Something that looked like pain. Without saying another word, Austin picked Rosemary up in his arms and carried her to his car. "What are you doing?" Rosemary asked. "Taking you home," Austin said simply. "But my car-" "Alex can get it later." Austin drove through the dark streets with Rosemary sitting quietly in the passenger seat. The silence between them was heavy and uncomfortable. He kept looking at her from the corner of his eye, but she was staring out the window, refusing to look at him. "Rosemary," Austin said softly. "We need to talk about what happened tonight." "I don't want to talk," Rosemary replied without turning her head. Austin sighed. "Those men knew who you were. Someon

  • UNWANTED TRUE LUNA    CHAPTER : THE ROGUE'S

Rosemary sat in her room, staring at the TV but not really watching it. She had been alone for three days now, ever since Austin told her to stay away from the pack house. The silence in her apartment was driving her crazy. She missed Austin so much it hurt. She missed his laugh, his smell, the way he held her when she was scared. But every time she thought about calling him, she remembered how he looked at Ariana. Like she was the most important person in the world."I can't just sit here feeling sorry for myself," Rosemary said out loud to her empty apartment. She looked at the clock. It was 8 PM on a Friday night. She was young and she was tired of being sad. Maybe she should go out and try to have some fun. Maybe a drink or two would help her stop thinking about Austin for a few hours.Rosemary put on her favorite black dress and some makeup. She looked at herself in the mirror and tried to smile. "You're going to be fine," she told herself. "You don't need Austin to be happy."Bu

  • UNWANTED TRUE LUNA    CHAPTER : THE FEELINGS

"Good news or bad news?" Austin asked."Good news, I think," Maya said, sitting down on a chair near the pool. "Remember that business opportunity I've been working on in New York?"Austin nodded. Maya had been planning to start her own fashion business for years."Well, they want me to come to New York for a month to finalize everything. If it works out, I could be opening my own store by Christmas," Maya said, grinning.Austin felt happy for his sister, but also worried. "When would you leave?""Next week," Maya said. "I know the timing isn't great with everything that's happening, but Austin, this is my dream. I've been waiting for this chance for so long."Austin stood up and hugged his sister. "Of course you should go. Don't worry about the pack problems. We'll handle everything.""Are you sure?" Maya asked."I'm sure," Austin said, even though he wasn't sure at all. What none of them knew was that Ariana was hiding behind the large tree near the pool area. She had come looking f
