“We broke up,” Xavi calmly said, taking a sip from his coffee.

Cadence almost choked after his revelation.

“What?” she asked, some of the whipped cream from her frappuccino on her nose. She couldn’t believe what she just heard.

Xavi chuckled and reached across the table to wipe her nose. Cadence felt another tug in her heart. For the past few days, she had been contemplating whether to forget about her feelings for Xavi, but it’s times like this that make it so difficult for her to move on.

“B–but why?” Cadence stammered. “I thought it was going well for the two of you.”
