I rubbed my clammy fingers against my dress. Her eyes scanned me from my head and to my toe.

“You must Giselle. The woman's who has stolen my grandbaby's heart.” She said, her face grim and Lynnie giggled at her grandmother's words.

I didn't know if I should nod or not.

She moved gracefully, her heels clicking behind her until she was standing directly in front of me.

She stood towering over me and she bent like she wanted to scan my face properly.

I tried to bend away from her touch as much as I could.

She had her son's eyes.

“I heard you were involved in my baby's kidnap.” I swallowed at the steely look in her eyes.

My heart pounded harshly. I had no idea what to say. She was invading my personal space.

“I-I-I didn't mean to.” I stumbled over my words.

“Hmm.” She clicked, her unwavering gaze still on my face.

“I also heard you were married to that brute.” She pulled back a little.

“I-I.”

“In our world, debts are always paid back in full.” My breathe hitched. “You've lost enough so

I couldn't breathe. His strong hold restricted my airflow. I slammed my hands against his hand, desperate to be freed.“What are you doing Dante. Let her go.” Lynnie's Nana commanded.Lynnie's loud sobbing filled the room.My face grew more red and hot.I thought it was the end. I thought I was really going to die.One word. Low. Like he was caressing the wind.“Dante.” That was all it took and the pressure against my neck lifted.I went stumbling to the floor. My eyes wide as I held my breathe to brace my fall.Shielding myself like I always did when Jace latched out.A hand caught me halfway to the ground, breaking my fall. But it still didn't stop the clatter of pain that engulfed my already aching body.I crawled further into Mrs. Taylor holding me. My heart thudding against my chest.I watched wide eyed as Lynnie's father, passes her to her Nana, who then passed a crying Lynnie to a uniformed maid who hurried out of my of view with her.His dark, unwavering eyes focused on my qui

I peeled my eyes open to find myself on the bed. My neck and every other part of my body ached from my bad sleeping posture. My eyes felt swollen and I cringed at how scary I must look. I sat up carefully, letting out soft groans and gasps. I struggled to stand on my own without support and was failing terribly. I was only seconds from pulling at my own hair from frustration when the door clicked open to reveal Mrs. Taylor. Her worried eyes went over my form and cautiously she walked further into the room. “You shouldn't be doing that ma'am.” She said softly, moving to hold onto my arm to support my weight. “Giselle.” My voice came out rough and hoarse from al the crying last night. “What?” She looked up at me. “My name is Giselle.” I corrected her, being called ma'am made me uncomfortable. She nodded quietly at me. “Want to take a shower?” I nodded thankfully at her. She helped me to the luxury looking bathroom. I’d never seen anything look so expensive that I was afraid to

The man in question dropped his utensils on his plate with a clink. His fiery eyes turned towards his girlfriend and her jaw shut close in seconds.“I-I think I'll head home. Dad's calling.” She squealed quietly and without waiting for another word she basically hurried out of the room like her ass was on fire.I tried shrinking into my seat and appearing invisible after that.Lynnie was the only unfazed human at the table. She yapped on about nothing in particular. Her father looked like her talking was the only thing of interest he'd rather be engaged in as he just quietly listened, giving her his full attention.I slowly and cautiously forced a few spoons of food into my mouth. My body was unable to keep food down.My back stiffened when he peeled his lips to talk. “How did your day go sweetie?” He softly asked her, his expression cool.Lynnie went off into another endless cute chatter. He hadn't looked in my question once since he sat, looking like he’d forgotten I was present whi

I watched on blankly. “Oh dear Lord dear, come here, you gave me quite the scare.” I had no idea why I didn't think her mother would be somewhere around. My heart pulsed further with guilt. Lynnie shrugged off the woman's arms around her though, her eyes glaring daggers only a De La Rosa could manage. “You're not my mommy.” Her tiny voice sounded annoyed and hurt. The lady looked like Lynnie’s words did nothing to move her. She maintained a smile on her face. Her eyes following Lynnie's figure who moved to stand by my bedside like she was seeking comfort and for some reason, my hands instinctly moved to rub her back. She blinked at me, her lips parting, “who's this?” She demanded, her eyes calculative. “She's a guest Miss Hilda.” Mrs. Taylor finally spoke from the side. Hilda's eye's skeptically ran over me and they narrowed like she didn't believe a words of that but she schooled her features like a pro and pulled her charming smile back on like a dress. “Of course.” She humm

  • Under the Mafia King's Rule   Chapter Four : please kill me.

I awoke to a world that didn't feel like mine. I felt a new kind of different, and it was nothing compared to the last time this had happened. I had no desire to live on, no reason to fight for my life. I felt numb—except for the anxiety stuck in the center of my throat that I couldn't shake off. Something told me so much worse could happen to me than my imminent death. Since I regained consciousness an hour ago, I'd tried my hardest not to remember Jace's lifeless eyes. I wanted to pretend the last twenty-four hours had only been a dream and never happened. And that the blindfold against my eyes and my left feet being chained to the bed I was laid upon were also only a figment of my imagination. A door slammed open, causing me to flinch and stiffen. I tightened my closed eyes at the sound of footsteps walking into the room. One was fast and loud; the other was slow, deliberate, and carried weight—telling me that even the sound of his footsteps mattered. My blood rushed lou
