Annalyn’s POV

I looped my hand into Alex’s, letting him guide me toward the ship. My eyes widened as soon as we stepped on board. Warm golden lights reflected off the water, casting ripples of soft glow across the deck. Elegant decorations hung from every corner, and a soft melody played in the distance, blending perfectly with the gentle sound of waves.

“Alex…” I whispered, awe coating every word.

He only smiled, squeezing my hand before leading me into a private dining cabin. A server dressed in immaculate white waited at the door with a bottle of wine already in hand.

“Mr. & Mrs Quinn,” he greeted before ushering us in.

Alex pulled out my chair like a gentleman, and I sat, trying and failing to keep the wide smile off my face.

From across the table, Alex tilted his head, a small grin forming. “So, from one to ten, rate my romantic skills…”

I chuckled. “Maybe a four.”

“A four?” He pretended to frown, placing a hand over his chest. “That’s just mean, Anna. You’re mean.”

  • Falling For My Ex’s Brother-In-Law   Chapter 138: Mocked

Anna’s POVMy phone alarm blared softly beside me, making me jump.Lunch break.I glanced towards the elevator door, half hoping it would open up to him coming back. He still hadn’t returned from his meeting. My stomach grumbled. I hadn’t eaten since breakfast and there was no telling when he’d be back at this rate. Taking a deep breath, I stood and grabbed my purse.“You can do this, Anna,” I whispered to myself as I headed for the cafeteria. “You’re here to work. To prove yourself.”But as soon as the cafeteria doors slid open, the air shifted. The low buzz of conversation grew louder… not because of me walking in, but because of what they were saying about me.“If I were her, I wouldn’t show my face here.”“Of course she’s shameless. She got the job after getting someone else fired.”“A pure gold digger.”Their words stung, each one sharper than the last. I told myself to ignore them and walked to the food stand, my heels clicking against the floor.“Don’t listen, Anna. Don’t give

  • Falling For My Ex’s Brother-In-Law   Chapter 137: Gossip Flys

Anna’s POVThe car rolled to a stop in front of Quinn’s Enterprise, and the driver turned slightly to face me.“Miss Anna,” he said politely, “Mr. Quinn instructed that you report directly to his office first.”I nodded, my fingers tightening around my bag. “Yes and about Nolan? Who's going to pick him up?”“Mr. Quinn has asked Nanny Flora to handle pick-ups from now on, I’ll take them to and fro,” he replied.I smiled faintly. “Oh, Okay. Thanks.”He tipped his cap as I stepped out. The glass doors slid open, and I walked into the familiar lobby, expecting to slip through unnoticed since Alex wasn’t with me.But the silence I imagined was replaced by whispers.Everywhere I turned, eyes followed mezz curious, judgmental, calculating. Two ladies near the reception desk leaned in to the receptionist and whispered something and giggled behind their hands. I kept my chin up, telling myself not to care, besides they may not be talking about me but my chest tightened all the same. When I rea

  • Falling For My Ex’s Brother-In-Law   Chapter 136: Cold Feet

Anna’s POV“Cold feet?”Alex’s voice pulled me out of the spiral I’d been stuck in since we left the house. My nails were digging into my palms, and I hadn’t even realized I was holding my breath until I turned to look at him.He kept one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting casually on his thigh, but his eyes didn’t leave me. His tone was teasing, but I could see the way his jaw tensed… he was worried.“I’ve never seen you this quiet,” he said softly. “You didn’t even join Nolan in his morning antics as usual. What’s wrong Anna?”I groaned, sinking back into the leather seat. “I just… I feel tense.. Im fucking joining a class mid semester, everyone’s going to be staring at me. They’re probably going to think I’m some spoiled brat who got in through connections.”“Well, technically,” he said with a sly smirk, “you did get in through my connections.”I shot him a glare, but he only laughed under his breath and reached over, taking my hand and squeezing it with his free hand.“

  • Falling For My Ex’s Brother-In-Law   Chapter 135: A world with the one I love

Alex’s POVMy eyes lingered on Anna for a second longer before I sighed and turned to Dominic.“Umm..,” I said, voice even but cold, “let him come up.”Dominic nodded and disappeared into the elevator.I turned back to Anna. “Wait here,” I told her, nodding toward the assistant’s desk. Her lips parted like she wanted to argue, but one look at my face must have made her stay quiet. She just nodded, and I turned away before I could change my mind.Inside my office, I shut the door behind me and walked straight to the window. I needed the few seconds it took for him to arrive. The skyline stretched far ahead, but my reflection in the glass was all I saw.. tense jaw, tight shoulders. I forced a deep breath.A knock came, sharp and impatient.“Come in.”The door flew open and in walked Mr. Kingston, cane striking the floor with every step. His face was already red, fury spilling out of him like smoke from a fire.“Mr. Quinn,” he barked, “I believe we need to talk.”I didn’t move from behi

  • Falling For My Ex’s Brother-In-Law   Chapter 134: The Office Claim

Anna’s POV“Care to explain,” Alex’s voice was low, dangerous, the kind that made the air around me feel heavy, “why is my fiancée in my arms instead of safely in my office where I told her to wait?”My stomach dropped.Fiancée?He’d said it out loud. So casually. In front of his staff. The word lingered in the air, sharp and undeniable, while my heart pounded so fast I could hear it in my ears. My eyes darted around the hallway, already imagining what people might say once gossip spread.I hadn’t even gotten a position here yet, and Alex was introducing me like that? What if everyone assumed I was only here because of him? What if they whispered behind my back, saying my relationship had bought me a desk in Quinn’s Enterprise? The assistant’s eyes went wide, mouth hanging open. “Fiancée? Sir… I think you have it all wrong. Is this skank here your fiancée?”Alex opened his mouth, but panic surged through me.Before he could speak, I jumped in, my hands flailing nervously. “No, no. I’m

Annalyn’s POV“Fuck me!” The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.Kristoff’s smirk widened. “Gladly.”I recoiled instantly. “Eww. Gross.” My face twisted in disgust, and my fingers clenched around my purse. “What the hell do you want, Kristoff? And what are you even doing here?”Before he could answer, a familiar voice called out.“Anna!”Rissa came rushing toward me, her heels clicking fast on the marble floor. I forced a smile, but my eyes darted back to Kristoff, who was still watching me with that maddening, amused glint.Rissa pulled me into a tight hug, her warmth genuine. I hugged her back because I didn’t want her to sense the storm brewing inside me.Breaking the hug, she held my shoulders. “I see you came in with Alex.”I nodded, steadying my breath. “Yes. Something came up for him, so he asked me to wait in his office.”Then my eyes flicked back to Kristoff. The question left my lips before I could help myself. “What’s he doing here?”Rissa followed my ga
