"Why go to the temple in the first place when you know you can't stand it? The lake can only do so much."

Kael laughed at Jed. "You talk too much these days. Why, it's fun staying in the water, especially in good weather like this."

Jed almost choked. Good weather? It's already sunset and the wind was too cold in this part of the lake!

"Please refrain from doing these things again, if your father, Alpha, learns--"

"Oh stop being silly. The alpha knows everything about everyone in the pack. You ditched the training to pass the message so you of all people should know it."

Jed froze. But he insisted, "But that's only because you didn't return when he asked you. Prince Kael, it’s been a week since you left the main village. If this goes on longer--"

"Ugh, I get it I get it. Stop nagging me, Jed. Be still like this water and try to cool your head off, won't you? I'll tell you my plan later. Sounds good?"

"..." Did Jed even have a choice?
