SEVERIN

I rubbed my temple weakly.

The files before me were so many that they gave me a headache.

Having been sitting in the office for more than an hour, I couldn't help but curse my luck.

This wasn't expected.

Indeed, I should have returned home after leaving Selene's place, but who would have thought one of my secret bodyguards would call me to let me know that Calista had already returned home...

I had no choice.

Returning home would mean explaining my whereabouts to her, and sincerely, at the moment, I wasn't ready to tell Calista any more lies.

So, instead of returning home to face her, I decided to make my office my alibi. My plan was to stay for an hour and then rush back home... that would be enough to let her know I went to the office.

But things went wrong.

My assistant threw more than expected documents before me like she was in a frenzy, blaming me for not coming to the office for so many days and then making me work so hard...

What was worse, Calista was angry.

CALISTA'S POV Severin ran his fingers through his hair. His hand moved, seemingly trying to hold mine, but I stepped back to avoid it. His jaw clenched. "I'm sorry, Calista." He mumbled. I drew in a deep breath and slowly moved forward, sitting in the bed to avoid falling down. My legs were weak. Standing had become a little difficult, but I wouldn't let them see that. I wouldn't let them make a joke out of me. Severin stood before me. His eyes were on me, and his lips parted several times, but no word came out. "What was the information about?" I asked again. I could remember he mentioned that earlier, and judging by his words, I could tell he had a deal with the attendant. Severin's eyes flickered___ hesitation? But his lips moved. "It's about my inheritance." He mumbled, and his eyes lowered. Without a doubt, I could tell he had never planned to tell me this. Normall

  • Unholy Desire: Lustbound   CHAPTER 47: REALIZATION

CALISTA I stopped before the door with a wooden face. I had deliberated over a million times while walking up to this face, but in the end, I couldn't afford to go back. My thoughts were in shambles. I knew I shouldn't be like this to someone who genuinely loved me, but I couldn't erase the unease in my heart either. With a firm bite on my lower lip, I pressed the button on the door and waited with bated breath. The wait seemed neither fast nor slow, but my heartbeat sounded louder with each passing second. I stared at the door, unable to comprehend what was going on in my head. However, I didn't have time to wait for too long when I heard a voice from within the room. "Did you order anything, my love?" The person seemed to be opening the door but was still speaking to someone else instead. Was it a feminine voice and the tone? My heart sank. Could Severin truly be in the room?I waited impatiently as the door creaked and opened. A lady stood by the door, dressed in transp

CALISTAI walked into my house with a slightly heavy heart. The thought of Severin occupied my heart heavily, and for a moment, I couldn't decide what to do. However, a phone call broke through this silence, and glancing at my phone, I realized it was a call from Celine. I sat down and answered the phone call. "Did you see anything?" I asked forcibly. Honestly, I felt guilty about everything. Severin had been nothing but loyal to me all these years, and not once had he doubted me, but I was the first to do so. What was even more annoying was that the reason I doubted him was that Selene said something. Selene of all people...I closed my eyes and drew in a deep breath. I'd done it already, and there was no need to keep it dragging for too long. "Report," I said rigidly. Celine was silent for a moment, and my heart skipped a beat. Did... something truly go wrong?

  • Unholy Desire: Lustbound   CHAPTER 44: DOUBT

CALISTAMy brows twitched. What did she mean?Selene laughed maniacally. "What a big fool. No one likes you, Calista. No one will ever do."My heart pounded. Breath hitched and breathing became difficult. My legs weakened, and I nearly fell, but a pair of hands held my waist from behind. Turning my head, I saw Raviel smiling down at me. A rarely genuine smile. Comforting and assuring. I swallowed and closed my eyes. How could I let Selene's words affect me so much?Selene wasn't human. She was a devil!A beast in a human form. So, why should I believe what she said? Why would I believe what she said to me?My skin prickled. I rubbed roughly, and for a moment, I felt like I had traveled back in time. I was on the ground, small and trembling. Tears rolled down my face as whips tore my skin. Laughter rang in the air. Not many people, but a person. Selene. Her small hand... we were less than 16. We were so young, but she was so evil. I was in pain, but she laughed. She enjoyed

  • Unholy Desire: Lustbound   CHAPTER 43: CONFRONTATION

CALISTA'S POV I hooked my arm around Raviel's as I greeted the executives who came around. "Miss Calista," I suddenly heard a call behind me. A familiar voice. My smile faltered, and my eyes flickered with Raviel, who was beside me. Our eyes hooked. Our arms were hooked...I sighed and finally turned around, facing Selene. "Hi?" I greeted with a smile. Selene's eyes sized Raviel, and she crossed her arms. "See who's here." She laughed. "Isn't this our Calista with someone else? Or has Mr. Severin changed so much?" She questioned. My heart sank slightly. Selene was a Bitch. She would stop at nothing to make sure Severin knew about my relationship with Raviel..."Maybe you need your eyes checked, Selene," I muttered and quickly composed myself. Even if she said anything, it didn't matter. Severin had never monitored me, and with a few words, I could always let him understand that there was nothing between Raviel and me. Raviel wasn't the type to talk either. Selene snickered.
