Chapter 90

After a warm shower, Charlene assisted Jasmine in getting into her pajamas while drying her hair. Jasmine saw that Charlene had grown abnormally quiet as she silently observed her focused expression. Charlene liked to occupy their time with incessant conversation. "What's on your mind, love?" Charlene inquired, catching Jasmine's contemplative stare. Jasmine shook her head. "Nothing." Perhaps she was overanalyzing the situation. Or maybe Charlene didn't feel like conversing since she was thinking about something. "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?" Jasmine pleaded as she collapsed into her bed after her hair had dried.

"Do you want me to stay with you tonight, sweetie?" Charlene asked after pausing. I don't mind either way. However, you haven't had sex with your father in a long time. You want to spend the night with him, don't you? "I'll head back in a bit." The divorce papers between Charlene and Thorne were still pending. Staying in their room may have caused trouble if Jasmine hadn't invited her to stay, especially if Irma found out. When Charlene emerged from Jasmine's room, their bedroom light was still on. Thorne was occupied with his laptop while seated near the desk.

When she entered, he looked up. Quickly averting her eyes, Charlene went to the wardrobe to retrieve her nightgown before slipping into the bathroom to take a shower. Thorne was still typing as she emerged. Given that it was still early, Charlene perched at the edge of the bed in her nightgown, finishing her skincare regimen before settling in with a book. Without trading, they were engrossed in their own worlds in the bedroom. Charlene was having trouble keeping her eyes open as it was getting close to midnight. She closed her book, switched off the lamp by her bed, and went to sleep. Thorne and Charlene believed it would be difficult to fall asleep because they hadn't shared a bed in a long time.

She also had a sneaking suspicion that Thorne would leave to be with Vesta once his assignment was done. Charlene fell asleep with these thoughts, lulled to sleep by the keyboard's gentle clicking. She felt warm and comfortable under the covers and slept remarkably well. Charlene noticed she was clutching something as she was about to stand up when she felt a warm breath next to her ear. She stiffened and soon woke up completely. When Charlene opened her eyes, she was curled up against Thorne, who had her legs wrapped over her and was sound asleep. There was barely any room between them because they were so close. Charlene took satisfaction in her ability to sleep soundly as she felt the warmth of his arms and the power of his chest.

She had purposefully slept on the edge the previous night, believing that there would be space between her and Thorne even if they were sharing a bed. Therefore, it didn't seem likely that she had rolled into his arms unless Thorne had been accustomed to sleeping with Vesta while they were apart and had mistaken her for Vesta while half asleep. Charlene pulled her palm away from Thorne's chest and slowly balled it into a fist as she considered this. She attempted to break free from his hug, but it appeared that her movement had awakened him. Thorne's hold tightened, drawing her into his hug. 08:39 Charlene was about to object, caught off guard, when a kiss dropped on her forehead. "Sleep a bit longer." She would never have heard Thorne say those things.
