The blonde, tall girl stood beside Kae, but his eyes were glued to his wine glass, uninterested.

“Hi, I’m Lucy,” she whispered, her tone dripping with flirtation. I scoffed under my breath.

“I’ll remember that,” Kae replied flatly, not even sparing her a glance. I couldn’t help the smile tugging at my lips.

I didn’t catch what she said next, but I saw her bold attempt—sliding her hand into his. Kae shot her a glare so sharp that she quickly withdrew.

For some strange reason, that little exchange left me oddly satisfied. I told myself it was only because of Elian.

Still, her persistence began to grate on me. She leaned closer, whispering again in that fake, sultry tone, but Kae wasn’t having it.

He lit a cigarette, smoked lazily, and ignored her like she was background noise.

“C’mon, don’t just stand there,” she urged, louder this time.

Even the handsome bartender seemed entertained, grinning as he pretended to polish a glass while stealing glances at the scene.

On our way home from the club, I couldn’t shake the gut-wrenching feeling that something had happened between Kae and Olivia while I wasn’t there. For one, I knew how much Kae disliked Olivia. The few times I’d caught them in the same space, it was as if her presence alone irritated him. If he had met with her, it couldn’t have been for anything good.A darker thought kept crawling into my mind—that maybe he had told her something. Something to scare her, that would make her stop talking to me altogether. And Olivia’s story didn’t sit right. She’d claimed it was all casual, that Kae had only been helping her with something stuck in her hair. But I wasn’t stupid. I had seen the way her face flushed red, not out of shyness, but pain. That wasn’t help—it was a warning. And then there was the missing wristwatch. She claimed she’d picked it up from the table, yet I still think that’s also made up. The lies piled up, and every one of them felt heavier on my chest. It confused me, twisted

My mind kept drifting back to Elian as I sat alone in my room . No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake the uneasiness gnawing at me. Something about him being out there, at the club, all alone—it just didn’t sit right.I thought about telling Kaelin. At least if he knew, he could do something. But each time the idea came, I immediately tossed it away. For reasons I couldn’t even explain to myself, I never had the courage to speak to him. Maybe it was because he always carried this aura of quiet annoyance, like my presence was an inconvenience. He wasn’t exactly the type of person you casually walked up to for a chat.If only he was a bit nicer. Maybe then I wouldn’t hesitate so much. But even then, I doubted Elian would confide in him about going out to drink. Elian wasn’t the type to be upfront with Kaelin when it came to that.Still, I could tell Elian was in a bad mood earlier, the kind where the air around him seemed sad. That was all the more reason he needed someone

El wasn’t joking when he said he planned to get wasted tonight. Drink after drink, he kept asking for more, ignoring the warning looks I shot his way. His cheeks were flushed, his grin sloppy, and his eyes unfocused—he was completely gone.He looked ridiculous, honestly, but then out of nowhere he leaned close and slurred, “I’m gonna marry you soon.”My stomach twisted. He had this habit of embarrassing me whenever he drank too much, and that was exactly why I usually forced him to drink at home. Tonight was different. Tonight was a hard day for him, and I couldn’t say no.When he started climbing onto a chair, I rushed to steady him. He laughed, smacked my hand away, and suddenly shouted, “Hey, guys, get over here!” His voice cut through the music. Heads turned. My heart sank.Trying to escape the spotlight, I slipped to a nearby table. I knew what was coming. Sure enough, El staggered toward the DJ booth. No use stopping him—I trailed after him anyway, anxiety twisting in my chest.

Yesterday marked my father's eighth anniversary, and I'd gone home to see Mum, only to find her silently crying in her room. I left without saying a word, which left me in a foul mood that lingered through yesterday and into today. I felt guilty about it, especially since I'd planned to go out with Kae and Olivia today. I knew Kae had avoided mentioning any plans for a party because he could sense my sombre mood. And I also had a nagging feeling he'd lost interest – partly because I'd invited Olivia without consulting him. He hadn't explicitly said much about it, but I picked up on his subtle disapproval; I doubt he would've agreed even if I'd asked him beforehand. After mulling it over, I decided to send Olivia a text.Me : Hey, sorry but I'm gonna bail on the party thing. Maybe we can catch up another time?Olivia: Aw, okay! What made you wanna ditch the plans?Me: Honestly, I'm just feeling pretty low today. Think I'm gonna hit up Fifth Avenue Vault and drink my ass off – try t

We sat in class, and watching El's antics was enough to kill the mood. He kept casting jealous glances at Olivia and Ronald, who were engrossed in whatever the hell they were discussing. The fact that Olivia didn't notice him seemed to fuel his anger, and I found a twisted sense of satisfaction in that. However, my mind was preoccupied with my own problems, and I wasn't paying much attention to his drama. He leaned in closer and whispered something I didn't quite catch. "What'd you say?" I asked, noticing his impatient expression. "What do you think is going on between Olivia and that scum?" he asked, his voice laced with jealousy. I was forced to glance over at them, and I shrugged. "They just have a good relationship, which you're hell-bent on destroying. I'd advise you to leave it alone or go ask them yourself," I replied. He glared at me, muttering under his breath, but I ignored it since I hadn't caught what he'd said.I looked down at myself and cussed. I watched a certain
