CHAPTER NINETEEEN - A FRIEND

"No no," I tell her, shaking my head. "I am not agreeing on becoming Jason's date again. He's a total freak and a pervert too. The last time we went bowling, he 'accidentally' groped my ass!" I say, putting air quotes around the word, accidentally.

Mom gives me a weird look. "It was probably dark, you know?"

"Oh please, mom. Just because he is Jane's son doesn't mean he can't be a complete asshole," I say and roll my eyes.

Jane is Mom's best friend and she's a really nice person, but with questionable parenting skills apparently.

"Whatever," she says, brushing the topic off. "We're not talking about that. I'm not asking you to go out with him."

My eyebrows shoot up again. I am getting a lot of surprises today.

"You remember that your father has gone out of the pack to help another pack heal a few patients, right?" she asks and I nod.

She continues. "So he is saying that there are a few patients there who aren't only physically damaged, but are suffering from psychological truama
