Chapter 8

"Good morning, Mystic! Hope your slept well. Now, shall we start? "Leo asked as he offer his left arm to me. I was about to cling mine when someone accidentally or perhaps, purposely bump into him making him hit his shoulder on the wall. Hunter took his Beta's place as he mimicked Leo's actions. I playfully rolled my eyes as a smile crept on my face.

"So childish. "

Meanwhile, Leo got back on his stance and harshly fixed his coat. "Aw, well that was unexpected. Or perhaps not. But it still hurts. "He said as he glare at his alpha, which the latter didn't mind. Oh, did I mention how Leo's british accent was quite cute? No? Then there you have it.

It's been more than a week since the tragedy happened, and for the passed days, I was only able to stay inside the mansion spending the whole day crying. And I really appreciate how Hunter didn't leave my side even after the fact that I accidentally shot him. He didn't even seem to hold a grudge. Well, I hope not.

Today, Leo suggested to walk me around the area and introduce me to the pack, because I am the alpha's "Luna". Which was kind of scary and... new. And I'm quite nervous because I'm really not a social butterfly like my friend, Eunna. Speaking of her, I miss her. It's been a week since she's been trying to call and text me, but I couldn't answer. I just don't know how I can explain everything without breaking down. And I believe Hunter when he said I should take everything on my pace. I shouldn't rush things. I know there will be a time I can tell her everything. But not now. Maybe, one day.

"Hi, Mystic! I missed you... Aw! "Just when Ethan was able to put his arms around me, Hunter extended his foot making the latter trip and fell down on his face.

Oh, that must've hurt. "It wasn't an accident, wasn't it? "He muttered, slowly getting himself back up as he brush the dirt from his pants.

Leo and I chuckled. "Yeah, it wasn't. "

"Jeez, you really need to work out on your jealousy issues. "Ethan muttered.

"No one touches the alpha's Luna. "Hunter demanded with full authority on his voice. We only rolled our eyes in his words, completely ignoring that he's of a high rank.

"And on your possessiveness issues. "Hunter glared at Ethan, which the latter only responded by smiling goofily.

"Anywho, shall we start? "I took a deep breath. Wish me luck, dad.

"Tiresome, isn't it? "Hunter asked as we sit down on a swing, seemingly familiar and i don't know how or why. Of course, Ethan's words completely made sense, but there were still questions that still bothering me. Why don't I remember any of it? Why don't I remember neither Leo, Ethan nor Hunter if we already met less or more than a decade ago? I mean, Ethan still remember everything clearly. We are of the same age. But why can't I remember anything?

"Hey? From earth to Mystic? You there? "I snapped out of my trance as I scratched my nape in embarrassment.

"Nah, it's fine. It was actually... fun. "

It was, actually. I met many werewolves both on human and wolf form. Kids, parents, elders. They all had a smile plastered on their faces which somehow give me a calm and peaceful vibe. The pack looks like a little village, like on the game minecraft. And yes, they also have mini farm. They also have a little fountain in the middle of the whole village. The design was quite astonishing. It was a she wolf, with a human man riding on her back. I don't know why they look quite familiar but before my brain cells could work, those little pups tug my sleeves and made me play catch with them.

I wonder why there's werewolf children when I always thought that first shifts happens only when you turn 16? I'll ask Hunter later.

After a few hours interacting with the people, (almost 90 percent was placed on the pups though, but I am not complaining), Hunter and I decided to take a rest first. So we went on the place Ethan exactly described. Our territory.  There's two huge trees, with a cute treehouse placed in their joint branches and a wooden swing covered with vines and flowers below it, were we currently sat. The treehouse seems to be a little bigger than usual. Maybe because two trees were used.

"I hope you see how this place didn't change. "Hunter muttered after a few minutes of silence, standing up as he lean on the tree's trunk. My feet that was making the swing in motion come to at halt.

"Why can't I remember? "I asked, more particularly to myself. I feel his gaze darted onto me.

"I know. Why can't you remember? "

Putting the unanswerable questions aside, we decided to go up on the treehouse. And right when my eyes darted on the room, a sudden flash of light appeared before my eyes.

“We did it! ”

“No, I did! ”

“Na-uh. I did the cleaning. ”

“But we made what you just cleaned! ”

“Then congratulations to us! ”

“Kids, pizza's here! ”

“Oh! The pizza's here! ”

“Coming, mom! ”

“Race you to the front yard! ”

“Game! ”

“That's so unfair, I always loose. ”

“In one, two... three! ”

“What the--That's unfair! Come back here, Mystic! ”

As if I just came from drowning, I inhaled deep as I feel something heavy placed in my heart. I was suddenly panting hard, heavily breathing in some air like I was going to lose it. My head felt heavy, like it was hit by a sudden blunt force, and it hurts. Within matter of seconds, every part of me hurt and I didn't even know how and why!

"Hey, hey, Mystic? Are you okay? Look at me. "Between the throbbing head and the blurry visions, I heard the familiar voice. "Look at me. "I stared the the pair of silver eyes that holds assurance and comfort with a glint of worry. "Are you okay? "

I started blinking my eyes to get my vision back. And when it did, I was only surprised realizing he had his both palm holding both sides of my cheeks, face close to mine. So close.

I nod my head as response.

"Yeah, I-I'm okay. "He removed his hands from my face as  he helped me enter the treehouse.

"What happened? "

"Uhm, I don't know. Something just--"I paused, suddenly seeing the whole room clearly. One word. It's... beautiful. And so so familiar. The light blue furry math on the floor, the blue mini laptop table in the middle, the white mini closet upfront, the large window on the left, five beanbags on the right side having the colors blue, white, black, pink and purple. There were also stack of pillows besides the bags.

We walk towards the pillows and I picked up the blue one, and sat on the blue beanbag. Everything seems so familiar and I'm beginning to hate myself for not remembering. Hunter sat on the white one, just next to me. We stood silent.

Too silent that I couldn't help tearing up.

"I wish to remember. I feel like I'm missing something. I feel like I've forgotten a very important part of my life and I want to know what it is. "I cried. Hunter placed my head on his shoulder as he gently caress my arms.

"Don't worry, I'll help you. I'll help you, so please don't cry. I hate seeing my queen cry. "I buried myself deeper on his chest, not bothering whether I'll wet his shirt.

"Promise me, you'll never leave, and that you'll always stay by my side." He stood silent for a while which somehow scared me. He's just like dad. Is he planning to abandon me too? "Don't leave. You're the only one left for me. "Again, he only stood silent. I suddenly felt scared and was about to pull out from the hug when he gave me the answer that I exactly needed.

"I promise. "

We stayed in that position for who knows how long and it doesn't even matter. I never thought there would ever be a moment that I will smile knowing the fact that my family's gone. But him here with me gave me a new light that is somehow within my grasp. All that was left was me grabbing it. I hope nothing will go wrong. I hope this will last. And that's the reason why I still have the doubt of accepting the light.

Fear.

But I won't let fear take control of me. I'll finally let myself be embraced by the light. Without fear. Just because it's him.

But fate is really funny.

I never thought that the moment I held onto that blinding beacon of light, was the moment that  led me to the darkest abyss I could ever be in.

"What?! "

I woke up by what seems like words coming from a familiar person. Was it Leo? Wait, where am I?

I looked around and saw that I'm still on the treehouse. I must've fallen asleep awhile ago. It's still dark, maybe I can still try to fall asleep again.

But few minutes passed, all my attempts failed. So I stood up and went down the treehouse, supposed to look for Hunter. I saw two figures, not too far from me and immediately recognized who they were. I was supposed to walk up to them when their words made me stop on my track.

"So you mean, you woke up covered with blood on the woods, the night of the Red Blood Moon? And you washed it off before going to Mystic? And there you saw that Mystic's father, David, is dead and was killed by a wolf? "I feel like there was a lump on my throat, fear slowly rising to my body.

No.

No, no, no. It's not possible. It can't... it can't be.

"And you think your wolf might've accidentally killed him and ran away? "

I unknowingly stepped back, trying to regain my balance as I try to stop my legs from completely falling down.

No, I think I misheard it, right? Yeah, maybe it's not real. Maybe I'm just dreaming. Please, Mystic wake up.

Wake up!

"Hunter, it can not be you. There are countless rogues everywhere. "

Right. Leo's right. It is not him. It will never be him.

P-please, let it not be him.

But Hunter only held his Beta's arms as he sternly stared at his eyes.

"Leo. Mystic saw a white wolf. And you know best that I'm the only white wolf left! "

Everything seemed to have come to at halt, hearing his words. Within seconds, all the strength I tried so hard to regain, came crumbling back down as I feel my emotions completely blacking out. Until, it was blank.

So it was... him. It was really him.

"Alpha, maybe Mystic saw it wrong. Maybe there's a black spot on his ears or paws or... Mystic... "

Hunter slowly turn his head to me and shock was written all over his face.

"Mystic... I--"

"From now on, the Alpha's Luna... is dead. I have never had a mate. And I will never ever going to have one. Not, if it's going to be you. "
