KALEO
THREE MONTHS FROM NOW - THE NIGHT OF MURDER
I threw my head across my shoulders, my red hair flipping to each side I turned as I failed at my decision not to panic.
One of my hands clutched the stick while the other held unto the bloody stained ends of my flowing gown.
Not being the least I cared about, I walked across the shattered glasses around the empty room before I halted, panting heavily.
My lungs ached, begging for air and my heart skipped at each suspense, each sound.
And immediately I picked up my phone, the messages lined up on my cracked screen from Aaliyah.
KALEOFrantically hiding a bottle of booze, I jolted my phone from my pocket at the sight of Jeffrey."Called her yet?" He asked, a towel around his waist as he applied deodorant.A slight nod was enough to embark on another journey back to Minnesota with the help of Maria."What did she say?" He asked."She hasn't texted back" I replied as he struggled with his pair of pants, shaking his head."You texted her that you want her to drive you to Minnesota? The least you could do is call" He said as he sat up."I could have done this by myself but I'm yet to receive car insurance and it's not like you're willing to wheel me across states" I said as I sat in the front of the mirror, staring at my pathetic reflection.I was mess, with eyebags and an unnoticeable stench of booze and fear."So we're embarking on a two day trip to find out if your fat
MARIALove,I imagine how long you've waited to hear about this very sensitive topic.A very much intuitive and naive thirteen year old Maria could write a thousand essays on just love. She could write love songs and poems about maybe how love was the best thing that could happen to a teenager-quite the opposite of Jacqueline when she was younger, you know the ones chased after boys and love letters and thinking they could navigate their terrifying minds. She was unsophisticated and could go the very much extra mile for mere love. But it was until she did love and she lost that she realized, love could be defined in a million words--none of which quite fitted her.****FOURTEEN YEARS AGOThe high plateau land was filled with scanty vegetation and dust precipitated in the air as we walked be
WUSomeone once said dreams are just a fragment of your very much alive imaginations. An involuntary occurrence of images, ideas and emotions during the stages of sleep, the concept of dream remains a mystery with many scientific and religious theories regarding the interpretation of dreams. But either way, even not fully understood, they still happen as a result of desires and certain sensations. And then comes the dreams that leave you insatiable, the ones that you're dying for it to happen. And what happens when a dream makes you question everything?****Typing into my computer vigorously as my inspiration flooded through my head. What she didn't know was she would be forced to choose...
AALIYAHTWENTY MONTHS BACK"This?" I asked, holding the lavender chiffon gown by the hanger as I looked to him."You do realize its a date, right?" He asked, throwing his phone aside to ransack my closet before his eyes set on something. "You know you're going to do it" He squinted his eyes in suspicion as he still held unto the hanger."You mean, sex" I said, eventually lowering my voice to stare at him. "It's my first date and apparently my first time" I said as I retired to the bed."I'm not even supposed to do this. What if Allah decides to punish me?" I said."If you keep living your life by what Allah says, what he does, you might as well be without sin" He said."Isn't that we it's supposed to be?" I asked as I pulled up my head to look at him."Even though I find it
JACQUELINEMy feet curled cozily underneath the sheets as I struggled mentally to open my eyes. A shiver shot through my body as I rolled over the bed, bringing my eyes to open.It took a moment before my vision cleared to see Harry seating upon the duvet, his sole concentration towards where I laid."Are you watching me sleep?" I softly asked as I yawned."You look beautiful even with your eyes closed. Don't judge" He complimented. "It's too early" I said with a smile."Did I stay here overnight? Did we-" I asked before he laughed, reaching for my hands."No, we didn't have sex. You terribly insisted because you were drunk but I didn't" He said as he squeezed my palms. "You don't have to be so cliché" I said before one of his girls walked in."Come here, K" He gestured before she cm brought out a stack of bonded money alongside a credit card."4123
MARIAStaring back and forth from the logged in page to tinder on my laptop, I flipped the pancakes with the saucepan with my hand.I had already started a conversation with a local farmer on the dating site and I stared in anticipation, waiting for his next reply.I was absurdly attracted to person on the other side of the keyboard even though I had never met him-i did hope to one day.So when a notification sprung with the signature tinder tune, I totally abandoned my almost done pancakes, walking over to the laptop.Marc: sorry, i was sort of busy. Miss me that much? And soon, I found myself smiling at the monitor, and it was at the smell of something burned that I rushed over to the pancakes."Don't burn the pancakes" Mother said as she handed me kitchen gloves to hold unto the heated handle."Mum, you have a
KALEOHanging the pumpkin shaped bucket on the handle, i breathed in the humid morning air."Happy halloween, Kaleo" The youngest of our nearby neighbors, Jake yelled from the porch of his fancied bungalow."Happy halloween, the Carsons" I yelled back with a flash of a smile. "There" I whispered as I finished the touches of the home made pumpkins."Happy halloween, love" His shill whisper pierced my ear as his arms wrapped around mine, staining my bright red dress. "Eww, your dirty" I said, taking his hands of my clothes."Well, your grandmother said I trim the gardens. Sorry for being a good son in law" He said before I pushed him away with a smile. "Ohh. Not in a while" I said as he leaned in to plant a kiss on my lips before hurriedly rubbing dirt across my face."Hey" I scolded as he ran off, leaving me with a smile on my
WULegs crossed on each other, my eyes navigated each face that they wore with their chairs voluntarily forming a circle. Lydia's face turned to both sides as she flashed a smile as a sign of greeting. Her gaze suddenly halted on me before she opened her mouth to speak."Wu" She softly called with a smile."Don't you have something to say?" She asked as I uncrossed my legs, sitting up."Well, i feel i have to now. I didn't figure you'd remember" I said as I maintained a lopsided smirk."Tomorrow makes it thirty days" I said it casually followed by a few murmurs. "I've been sober for thirty days, bitches" I said, enthusiastically, nodding to their claps."And we have something for you" Lydia said after a round of applause, before reaching unto the table."Here you go" She said with a smil
