AUTHORS POV

It was Clarissa, in her night robe, holding two mugs of piping tea. The tea was piping hot that Tessa could see the steam brewing from where she was seated and honestly, she appreciated the gesture.

The tea would help relax her nerves as she scanned through the paper work and everything for the meeting.

Nothing was aloof or amiss, and it made her more grateful that she sorted for Clarissa’s help.

“I figured you were still awake,” she said.

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   You can be both

AUTHORS POVTessa looked at her, her expression unreadable. And it was normal for clarissa’s face to be unreadable whenever she was saying something she deemed very honest or whenever she was simply goofing.Clarissa gave her hand a little squeeze. “You can be both. You deserve to be both.”Tessa gave a faint smile but didn’t respond. Clarissa sipped her tea again, then leaned back, eyes twinkling.“Well, if you’re curious about my love life, I suppose I should indulge you.”Tessa chuckled. “Go on, then.”Clarissa lit up. “I have got a new man and his name’s Mateo. We met at a wine-tasting event, of all places. I was there to support a friend’s business launch, and he was just passing through from a corporate retreat. We ended up paired for a tasting game, and he made this awful joke about Merlot being the wine equivalent of a sleepy Labrador.”Tessa laughed. “That’s terrible.”“I know,” Clarissa giggled. “But I couldn’t stop laughing. And the more we talked, the more I realised—he li

AUTHORS POVClarissa took a long sip of wine, eyes drifting to where Dean and Sofia chased each other in the garden. The late afternoon sun dipped behind the trees, casting a golden lights over everything.“They look like siblings,” she said quietly.“They might as well be,” Tessa replied, her voice distant. “They’ve only known each other over video calls, yet they act like they’ve grown up together.”“They’ll need each other in the coming days,” Clarissa added.Tessa placed her glass down on the table. “Tomorrow changes everything.”Clarissa nodded. “I’ve kept your name completely out of the paperwork. You’re listed as Clara Moretti—an investor based in Geneva.”“Smart.” Tessa’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Let him be blindsided. Let him beg before he realises it’s me behind the fall.”Clarissa reached across the table. “You don’t have to do this alone. Let me take part of the meeting if it gets overwhelming.”Tessa gave her a grateful look. “I’m glad you stayed, Clarissa. I can’t imagin

This time, you’re not alone.”She hoped she was not alone.Even though she trusted clarissa to handle things perfectly in her absence, there was an uncanny desire to balance out anything. The business world was rugged and she needed to be tough, so if having clarissa by her side would help ease the pressure, why not?She needed all the help she could get to pull through because Dean was now in the picture and she was almost done trying to cook up lies.T

It sounded like a bad idea but she must do it.Dean leaned closer to the window, his tiny breath fogging the glass. “Mummy, are we going to see my daddy now?”Tessa’s heart clenched at the question. She hadn’t expected it—not today, not now. The timing was uncanny. “Why do you ask that, sweetheart?”Dean shrugged, still gazing out the window. “I dunno. I had a dream last night. A man said he was my daddy. He looked like me.”Tessa blinked. Her stomach knotted. Was this chil
