Isolation

Morning arrived like a silent ghost, creeping in through the gauzy curtains of the Lorenzo estate. Tessa awoke to the soft sound of the birds tweeting and the distant clinking of dishes being prepared downstairs.

The sun had barely broken through the Monterrey haze, but she was already wide awake, lying motionless, staring at the ornate ceiling that seemed to mock her sense of captivity.

Days had blurred together since her return from Seychelles.

No more laughing with Jamie over breakfast.

No more impulsive outings with Camila or gentle evening walks along the beach.

Instead, there were daily check-ins with Mariana, perfunctory meals with Pedro, the shabby sex he would force on her and a quiet ache that lodged itself in her throat every time she remembered the life she had tasted—if only briefly had so quickly turned into memories she craved to relive again.

She sat up slowly, brushing a hand over her abdomen. Her bump was still subtle, a gentle swell, but it felt enormous to her—bec

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Long enough to strike

AUTHORS POVSome hours later, she sat at the edge of the garden. It had been a while since she last visited the garden, and she needed space from the dusty confines of her room even though Mariana had cleaned it several times, the hypersensitivity and nusea just seemed to overwhelm her. The estate’s gardeners kept everything pristine—blooming bougainvillea, trimmed hedges, a koi pond that glittered under the sun—but none of it soothed her anymore. She was alone. Surrounded by splendor, but suffocating. Her only taste of freedom came when Pedro had left for work , and even then, Mariana hovered nearby like a shadow with orders to report back. Pedro masked it all as concern, as love, as care—but she knew the truth. She was being triggered on purpose, isolated, silenced. Or perhaps he was getting back at her for ignoring his calls while she was in Seychelles. And now with Regina gone, even her hopes for a frayed link to the outside world had snapped. As she plucked petals absentmindedl

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   The New Reality

AUTHORS POVTessa hadn’t expected the sharp contrast between the sun-drenched freedom of Seychelles and the cold silence of the Lorenzo estate. The black iron gates closed behind them with an eerie finality, and for a fleeting second, she felt like a bird stepping back into its gilded cage. She’d left Camila and Jamie with soft hugs and promises to catch up soon—but something in the air as she stepped into the mansion made her skin crawl. She was obviously not happy to be there and it felt as though the feeling was mutual, the environment was too cold, it did not feel welcoming. The new housekeeper, Mariana, greeted her with a soft nod, barely meeting her eyes, she wondered what happened to Rosa. The air was too still, and even the familiar scent of eucalyptus oil—Pedro’s preferred aroma for the hallways—did little to soothe the rising unease in her chest.Pedro was waiting in the grand lounge, perched stiffly on the edge of the antique leather chair as though he’d been rehearsing t

Jamie finally broke the silence.“Well,” he sighed, slipping the letter back into his carry-on. “Turns out anonymous sugar daddy had a poetic streak. Shame he had to go ruin it with honesty and emotional maturity.”Camila arched a brow. “You're still mad?”Jamie gave a dramatic shrug. “I’m heartbroken, confused, mildly offended—but also kind of impressed. I mean, what kind of mysterious online flirt pulls the plug with a heartfelt letter signed 'Anonymous Sugar Daddy'? That’s peak drama.”Tessa turned from the window, her lips pulling into a small smile. “You’re handling it well.”“I’m not,” Jamie replied quickly, then softened. “But I will. Eventually. And if I don’t…” He gave a sly smirk. “Well, Mr. Rahl is waiting patiently in the wings, and let’s just say he’s more than happy to be my consolation prize.”Camila laughed, slapping his shoulder. “That’s the spirit. Upgrade from mystery to luxury.”Tessa smiled at them both, though her heart still felt twisted. She had barely slept th

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Later that Morning

AUTHORS POVCamila and Tessa sat at a beachside breakfast table, sipping on coconut smoothies and occasionally picking at a spread of fruits and pastries. Jamie arrived without a word, the letter still folded in his palm.He didn’t say much as he sat down. Camila noticed immediately, eyes narrowing.“You okay, Jay?” she asked softly.Jamie looked at her, then at Tessa, whose eyes already brimmed with recognition.“I got a letter,” he said. “From my anonymous admirer.”Camila blinked. “Wait, for real?”Tessa cleared her throat. “What did it say?”Jamie chuckled bitterly. “That it was all meant to make me feel good about myself. That he didn’t want to manipulate me… I was just basically an experiment to him to be honest. But it’s over. He’s gone.”He placed the letter on the table, but no one dared touch it.“Do you know who it was?” Camila asked carefully.Jamie’s lips pressed together. “I wish I did.”Camila's eyebrows shot up. Tessa looked down at her plate.Jamie’s voice was quieter

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   The Letter by the Door

Tessa stood motionless in the villa, the echo of George’s confession still ringing in her ears. Outside, the wind toyed with the palms, swaying them like fragile truths, shifting with every gust.George had remained after her initial rejection, pleading not for forgiveness—but for understanding.“Tessa,” he’d said, his voice fraying at the edges. “I never wanted to hurt Jamie. I didn’t plan for any of it to go that far. It started as a way to lift him up, to give him a little mystery and excitement. I didn’t expect…” He had stopped himself, swallowing the rest of the sentence. “I didn’t expect to feel responsible in this way. I thought I was helping.”Tessa, arms folded tight across her chest, said nothing at first. Her mind raced with conflicting emotions. George had been her escape, her secret solace in the chaos of Pedro’s shadow. But now, this twist blurred everything. She looked at him through different eyes—more cautious, more aware of how deeply even good intentions could wound
