Chapter 10

Author: Nameless
Before Scott could open the box, his phone buzzed loudly. Cindy.

Her voice was frail and whiny. She wasn't feeling well, she said, and begged him to come over immediately.

Scott reassured her with a few soothing words, already moving to leave. As he turned, his sleeve snagged the edge of the box, toppling it off the desk. Papers and photos spilled across the floor in a scattered mess.

He glanced at it briefly but didn't stop. Too preoccupied with Cindy's call, he walked out the door, leaving the contents untouched.

Across the city, Vanessa sat in the airport, waiting for her flight to Italvia, when her phone rang.

It was Rob from the hospital. There was an issue with her transfer paperwork, he explained. She couldn't leave just yet—it'd take another two weeks to sort everything out.

The housemaid greeted her at the door, looking relieved. "Ma'am, where have you been? Mr. Fabel came home earlier

The next morning, Vanessa woke to rain hammering against the windows. Before she even sat up, Hedro's voice cut through the room."Scott's here. He's in the yard."She went downstairs. Hedro stood behind her, holding an umbrella as they walked out to face Scott together.Scott stood there, drenched, shivering. Bruised and bleeding, he was the definition of pathetic. The second he saw her, he lurched forward, his voice cracking with desperation."Vanessa, I know you hate me, but don't you remember how much you loved me? You gave up everything for me! We were so happy—why—""Why?" Vanessa's laugh was cold. "Did that question even cross your mind while you were screwing Cindy?"Her eyes narrowed, pure disgust in her voice. "For the record, Scott— I don't keep dirty things.""I'm not dirty! I'm not dirty!" Scott shouted, scrubbing at his arms. His skin turned raw, but he didn't stop.Vanessa let out a small sigh—not sad, just done. He only realized what he had after he lost it. To

"Tired, babe? I made some gnocchi. Let's go home and eat," Hedro said gently.Vanessa smiled shyly and nodded."Then... will you sleep with me after breakfast? "I'd love to."They spoke softly, openly affectionate, like Scott wasn't even there.Scott stood frozen, the scene ripping through him like a blade. His chest ached. As Vanessa walked past him, hand in hand with Hedro, Scott snapped. He lunged, grabbing her arm roughly."I know you hate me, Vanessa!" he shouted, voice raw. "But you don't have to use another man to punish me!"Before he could say another word, Hedro's kick sent him crashing to the ground. Pain exploded through his already battered body."Listen to me," Hedro said. "Vanessa is my wife. If you want to keep breathing, get lost. Bother her again, and you'll regret it.""Let's go," Vanessa said. "Don't waste time on him."She wasn't just annoyed—she was worried. Hed

Deep down, Scott knew it—Vanessa was never going to forgive him this time. The image of her walking into the hospital alone for an abortion flashed through his mind. 'What is she up to now?!' Scott muttered inwardly. He kept dialing her number, but it wouldn't go through. With every failed attempt, unease tightened its grip, gnawing at the edges of his confidence.Just then, the maids walked in, back from their vacation. They froze at the sight of Scott standing in the living room, visibly unhinged."Where's Vanessa? Where did she go?"Both maids shook their heads."Ms. Jahn gave us ten days off, sir. We just got back.""What?!"Scott's chest tightened as he bolted upstairs, tearing through every room. He searched closets, drawers, the bathroom—everywhere. But it was all gone. Her towels, her toothbrush, her clothes—everything was missing. Only his things remained. On the staircase, Scott froze, gripping the railing, staring blankly at the emptiness below. His heart pounded in a frantic rhythm.A sickening thought struck him.Vanessa wasn't playing games this time. She was really gone."No way!" he shouted. She couldn't leave. She had

"Clean this up and get some rest," she said, her voice quiet but steady, then started limping back upstairs. The physical pain? It didn't even touch the mess in her heart. The maids watched her go, their chests tight.***Vanessa lay in bed, staring at the pitch-black night outside her window. She couldn't even remember the last time she didn't feel this alone.A single tear slid down her cheek, disappearing into the pillow.
