Jace's POV

Kingdoms of Dust

“Jace, you need to hear this,” Lucian called, his voice echoed with joy.

What's up this time? Hope it's not about some stupid events we've got to attend because I ain't attending no more.

His feet thumped against the stairs as he raced upstairs and my sunken face laid in my pale palms.

The door flung open and he walked in, his face brimming with joy.

“Guess what?” He chuckled.

I raised an eyebrow. Something is definitely wrong with Lucian. When did he start playing silly guess games. I hissed softly and looked away, my hands slid into my coat and I grabbed a cigarette.

His eyes narrowed at me as he shoved the phone in my face. My eyes widened immediately I caught sight of it.

We now secured a new territory, registered under the Vanguard name…

This is good news. Damn! That fall at the summit really destroyed the Geneva and also left the underworld fractured. But Lucian as a smart ass saw the fall as an opportunity and fronted more actions from the Vanguard,

Chains of Command“Matteo, how did this happen?” Lucian snapped, his voice absolute and firm.Immediately, I rose and quickly threw a glance at the laptop. The men were busy destroying our property outside. Who does that? Matteo was trembling, completely speechless. Lucian grabbed his throat and pinned him against the wall. “You are the leader of the boys. Get your men in line!” Lucian flung him to the ground. Matteo scrambled back up and ran off, panting heavily. Vanguard's power had expanded globally—well, not completely globally, but Europe had been conquered. Now, control was slowly slipping away. Every day since we returned from the Zurich job, I’ve felt it. The chilling feeling of death calling me still aches in my heart.I watched from the camera view as the men pointed a gun at Matteo. Lucian’s heart raced sharply. In that moment, I saw pure, unadulterated rot and bitterness. “How dare they?” he quickly snapped, but I held him back.“Wait,” I warned. “You might be the king,

The Zurich JobJace’s POVYou know, coming here was definitely not a mistake. As a matter of fact, I can attest that this is the best mission of my life. The air around here is somewhat calm, but in that calmness lies secrecy, tension, and a danger that lurks like a shadow. It follows you. It never leaves you. The haunting sound of its approach sings constantly in my ear.We sat calmly in a hastily rented safe house. My eyes darted around the room. Lucian was across the room, his eyes fixed on the window. The moment I told him I was going, he was unwilling to let me go, but because he knew my mind was made, he decided to come along. He’s been of surprisingly good use here though.Matteo rushed into the room, his face frantic, clutching a laptop. He paused, quickly scanned the room, and rushed over. “I found something,” he panted. He found a small shell corporation of suspected syndicate operation. It was still heavily encoded, and he couldn't break it.That was my job. I quickly g

The Winter Syndicate's LetterLucian's POV “Lucian! Lucian!” Dimitri’s voice echoed like a panicked, cracking whip across the room. The heavy thumping of his footsteps along the staircase were frantic and rang sharp in my ear.I quickly tossed aside the glass in my hand, my eyes instantly scanning the room. My heart paused for a second while I reached for my gun, cocked it, and was battle-ready. The door flung open, and he ran in frantically, his face pale and covered in confusion and a single, ominous letter clutched hard in his trembling hand.I paused, studying him with a cold and calm gaze, then rose up, grabbed my cigarette, and deliberately blew the smoke into his pale face. He tossed the letter aside to me, breathing heavily, his heart racing like an engine.I stared calmly at the paper. The letters were written in an exact, archaic Old Russian code.“Fuck,” the word escaped my lips before I even knew it. My calm shattered. I turned on Dimitri, grabbing his shirt sharply, pu

Jace's POV The Crowns of RuinThe air was bustling with activities. The posh chandeliers hung up, unveiling the emergence of the new empire, the new era, the Vanguard era. My body was clothed in white fine lines silk material, with golden laces hung by the edges. My eyes glowed with victory, but the underlying anger still burned in my heart. Behind all these fancy drama was an empire built on the blood of men, women, children, innocent lives. To be honest, I don't know if I feel guilty because now, I realize I'm a hypocrite. I can't be enjoying the priviledges that come with the blood and be against the blood. But another part of me is craving for redemption. There are other ways to get what we want, it's just a matter of time and strategy, but well, the dynamics of the underworld doesn't work that way. I'm just speechless as I stare into the massive engraved walls.THE VANGUARD…That's Matteo's hand work. Look at them all dressed in fancy clothes like angels, walking around this pl

Iron and IceLucian’s POVIf there’s one thing I love, it’s seeing what I worked for succeed. My empire had begun to rise again. And not just rising, it was accelerating at the speed of light. My men were doing pretty well. We were reclaiming ports, trade routes, and weapons. We had it all once again.I sat in the living room, a warm smile spreading across my face as I stared at the TV, softly releasing the coiling white smoke into the air. This was the taste of victory, just calm and absolute. All of a sudden, I heard frantic thumping on the staircase. Jace appeared in a second. “Lucian!” he cried. His voice was heavy with panic. He was trembling as he shoved a video in my face.“What?” I snapped immediately. My eyes burned with instant rage. The Catalan syndicate—a stubborn remnant of the old minor families—had bombed one of my safe houses. How in God’s name did they get the location of the safe house? And who the fuck gave them the audacity, the effrontery, to go disrespect my fuc

The Seraphina GambitJace’s POV My eyes were fixed on the devil sitting before me. We had tracked Seraphina down after her escape and based on the desperate need for the Phantom Ledger, we offered her a new deal.Funny how she was in possession of the legendary account book of the underworld. From my little experience, strangers never cease to amaze me.I smiled at her softly, my gaze fixed and unwavering. I could see the subtle shift in her demeanor, she was somewhat uneasy. Her unease, however, was fueled by a dangerous arrogance, a cocky feeling that I knew was fueled by Lucian’s and Dimitri’s presence. Lucian was seated beside me, seething with rage. I wondered what Seraphina had done to his father—he never agreed to tell me, but the fact that he’d mentioned she was a whore told me it must have been something very bad. As for Dimitri, he was visibly trembling. For the very first time, I saw raw fear in his eyes. The atmosphere was heavy and Seraphina’s arms were folded, then he
