Tatum’s POV

The steady beeping of machines slowly pulled me awake.

My eyes fluttered open, only to be met with harsh white light glaring down at me. I blinked several times, trying to adjust before staring blankly at the ceiling.

Hospital?

Frowning slightly, I pushed myself up and noticed the IV connected to my hand.

Who brought me here?

How long have I been here?

Wait… is it morning already?

The door opened, and a nurse walked in with a relieved smile.

“You’re awake. That’s good. I was

Tatum's POV My eyes widened at Xavier’s message. Me: Um… maybe. Him: I’m free tomorrow evening. Me: Okay, tomorrow evening then. Him: Good night. Me: Good night. The Next Evening We agreed to meet at Lavin. After staring at my closet for far too long, I finally settled on a blue dress that hugged my figure without being too much. I kept my makeup light, just enough to look presentable, though I still found myself fixing my hair twice before leaving. Why am I nervous? It’s just dinner. When I arrived at the restaurant, Xavier was already seated. A teenage girl stood beside his table, practically glowing with excitement as she held out a notebook for an autograph. Xavier smiled warmly and signed it without hesitation before glancing up. The moment his eyes landed on me, his expression softened. “Hello,” I said as I approached. “Hi.” He stood immediately and pulled out a chair for me. “Oh—thank you. You didn’t have to do that.” “It’s okay,” he replied easily. “I hope

How long have I been here? Wait… is it morning already? The door opened, and a nurse walked in with a relieved smile. “You’re awake. That’s good. I was honestly surprised when you didn’t wake up last night, but I guess you had alcohol too.” “I had quite a lot,” I muttered dryly. “Thanks to someone.” “I’ll check your vitals first.” She moved around the room while checking the monitors. “Who brought me here last night?” I asked curiously. “A tall, handsome young man,” she replied casually. “He said he’d be back soon.” My heart skipped slightly. Arden? Before I could think further, the door opened again. “There he is,” the nurse said wit

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 18

Tatum’s POV I stared at the message on my phone, my eyes widening in disbelief. My dad had already contacted Arden. After I specifically told him not to. Frustration surged through me as I immediately dialed his number. He answered almost instantly. “Dad, why did you call him?” I demanded. “I told you I was going to handle this my way!” “I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I didn’t want to put you in a difficult position.” The exhaustion in his voice made some of my anger falter, but I still couldn’t let it go. “I told you to wait for my reply,” I said more firmly, though my tone softened slightly. “I know,” he murmured tiredly. “I’m sorry.” I sighed heavily and ended the call. By the time I arrived at Arden’s villa, my head was already pounding. The house felt unusually quiet as I stepped inside. Arden was seated on the couch watching the news, one arm resting lazily against the armrest. “Good evening,” I greeted. My words were met with dead silence. Slowly, he lifted his e

Tatum’s POVThat crazy bastard. The moment the front door clicked shut behind him, the adrenaline draining from my system left me hollowed out and trembling. I leaned heavily against the wall, my legs barely able to support my own weight as I tried to force air back into my lungs. Tears welled up in my eyes, hot and blurring my vision, before spilling over my cheeks.I didn’t want this life.I grew up feeling entirely unloved, a ghost in my own family, and now I had somehow engineered my way into an utterly loveless, dangerous marriage. Was it really worth it? Had I made a catastrophic mistake by agreeing to this arrangement in a reckless fit of anger? If I had just walked away, if I had just swallowed my pride, Liam would be awake and here with me right now. And if Mom were still alive… she would never have let any of this happen to me. She would have protected me.The thoughts swirled in my head like a suffocating dark cloud, and for the first time in the years since my mother passe

Tatum’s POVSilence. Not the ordinary kind—the kind that lingers politely between casual conversations. No. This silence was heavy. Suffocating. It pressed against my chest, crawled under my skin, and settled deep in my bones like a living thing.Ten percent.Of the Voss Group.I didn’t move. I didn’t breathe. Across the table, Amelia’s fork hovered mid-air, her lips slightly parted in sheer disbelief. Camila’s smile had frozen into something brittle, the warmth from just seconds ago draining so quickly it was almost frightening. Beside her, Sean had gone completely still, his eyes sharp and calculating as he began dissecting the corporate implications. And Arden…I didn’t even need to look at him to feel it. That sudden shift. That cold, dangerous stillness radiating from his side of the table.“Grandpa…” My voice came out quieter than I intended, but it cut through the oppressive quiet anyway. “I don’t understand.”Dayton leaned back in his chair, completely at ease—as if he hadn’t

Arden’s POVI cleared my throat, a sharp, deliberate sound to puncture the thick tension in the room and snap them out of whatever fantasy they were spinning. They sprang apart instantly. Amelia’s face was a frantic shade of crimson, her eyes darting around like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Damien, predictably, remained unruffled.“Sup, man,” he said, his voice smooth and entirely too casual.“What are you doing here?” Amelia blurted out.“I should be asking you that,” I countered, leaning against the doorframe. I let my gaze linger on the space between them. “If I hadn't walked in, just how far was this going to go?”“She’s not a child, Arden,” Damien interjected, his tone bordering on defensive.“I… I have to go.” Amelia didn’t wait for a rebuttal. She brushed past me, her head down, radiating a palpable sense of embarrassment.Damien watched her leave before turning his attention back to me. “You spoiled the fun.”“I suppose I did.”“You’re no fun at all,” he mut
