When I arrived at the classroom where Moon Phases and the Dark Wolf was being held, I found that Caroline Wickburn was already seated at her desk.A knot in my stomach tightened as I stepped inside the room. Thiswas the first time Caroline Wickburn and I had been alone together sincelast year… and I was sort of nervous. As I headed towards the back of the room, I hoped to sneak pastwithout her noticing. But her voice immediately broke through the silence. “Raven, may Ihave a word with you in my office before class?”“Sure,” I replied. I wasn’t going to lie; I felt like I was going to puke. The last thing I wanted to do was talk to her in private. But she wasmy professor, so how could I say no? That would have just given hersomething else to hold against me.Once we were in her office, she closed the door behind us. She satdown at her desk and motioned to the chair across from it. “Please have aseat.”Nervously, I sat down.“Welcome back to Werewolf Academy. Your second year ha

As I sat in a chair across from Headmaster Black, he cleared histhroat. It might have been just me, but I couldn’t help but think that heseemed uncomfortable.“I miss Gallagher, there are a few things that I would really like todiscuss with you.”“What are they?” I asked, swallowing hard.Just play dumb. That was my plan. There was no way he couldactually prove that Theo and I had been fooling around in his office whenwe were supposed to be in class… was there? I supposed there was alwaysa chance that there were security cameras in Theo’s office.“I wanted to discuss your situation with you,” Headmaster Blackbegan. “I understand that you are now the Alpha of the Darken pack andthat you are mated to all four of them. So, I know you spend a good deal oftime with them—quite understandably, of course.” He paused. “But I don’tfeel that it’s appropriate for you to broadcast your relationship aroundcampus. I feel that you should keep your relationship with the Darkenprivate, for

A knot tightened in my stomach as he reached for the phone. Hestared at the screen for a moment—a really long moment—and thenglanced up at me with a smirk.Holy shit.Yep, he had definitely looked at the picture.Nervously, I reached for my own phone.Read.“I’m sorry, students. I need to take this important phone call. Whydon’t you all open your textbooks and start reading the first chapter?”As he ducked out of the classroom, his voice entered my thoughts.“You need to meet me in my office. Right now.”“Now? Don’t you think everyone will notice that you’re gone and I’mgone, too?” I asked.“Just pretend you’re going to the restroom,” Theo replied.I glanced over at Iris. “Well, I’m going to go to the bathroom,” Iannounced kind of loudly, hoping that other students would hear me.Iris shot me a look that told me she totally didn’t believe me, but shedidn’t question me, either.I quickly got up from my desk and then headed out of the classroom.Thankfully, the restroom and Theo’s

We stayed under lockdown for the next couple of days, completelymissing the first three days of classes. Our meals were delivered to ourdorm rooms, and we weren’t allowed to leave, under any circumstances.I hated being cooped up. It made me feel so anxious and stir crazy. But at least I wasn’t alone. I was excited to be able to catch up with Maddie,Iris, and Vince after so much time away from each other.Truthfully, I probably would have been scared if I spent thislockdown by myself. Knowing that someone—probably Milos—hadattacked us all during the Full Moon Party was scary enough. But it waseven scarier to think that he had broken into my dorm room, too.Needless to say, I was just glad for my friends being there to keep mecompany. It helped the time pass quicker. It took an entire day to catchMaddie up to speed with everything that had happened since we'd seen eachother last: from my being Princess Fallyn to everything there was to knowabout me and my mates. We’d done not
