Chapter 4

작가: Blanc Ball
Ivory wasn't the type to suffer in silence. If she was mad about something, she would take it out on someone on the spot.

So, she kicked the door to the room next door down, looking arrogant as she held her head high. She asked, "What is the lesson that I need to be taught, Wilson? If you have something to say, do it to my face. Don't talk badly about me behind my back."

Despite being caught red-handed, Wilson wasn't flustered in the slightest. He didn't even bat an eye, remaining as calm and composed as always. He drawled, "For example, you need to learn not to drink anything that just about anyone gives you."

Ivory laughed. She wasn't a child—of course she knew that. Still…

"Aren't you supposed to be keeping an eye on me?" She looked at him coldly. "I can't drink to my heart's content even with you around. What am I paying you for, then?"

He fell silent. Then, he said, "I'll admit I shirked my duties this time."

She smiled. "So, you shouldn't be the one teaching me a lesson. I should be the one doing it to you. Now, hold out your hand."

He frowned as hints of displeasure flickered in his eyes. Still, he did as told and held out his hand.

Ivory grabbed it and chomped down on it so hard that she drew blood. However, all Wilson did was furrow his brows slightly. He didn't even grunt.

"That's your punishment," Ivory said. "Even if your conscience isn't weighed down when you throw me to the wolves again next time, at least your hand will hurt."

With that, she turned and left without another look back.

That afternoon, Ivory attended her best friend's birthday party.

It was a lively pool party. The invited scions and heiresses wore skimpy swimwear as they played in the pool, and the atmosphere was light-hearted and cheery.

But just then, four attendants pushed a gigantic object hidden by a red cloth in. One of them bowed his head politely toward Ivory and said, "Ms. Stone, this is a gift to you from Mr. Fuller."

Mr. Fuller? Ivory cocked an eyebrow. Her future husband?

She said, "It's my best friend's birthday today, not mine. Why has he given me something?"

"Mr. Fuller cares about you and doesn't want you to feel neglected," the attendant said with a smile.

That was a nice explanation, but Ivory couldn't help feeling uneasy. She instinctively looked around for Wilson, but as soon as she turned her head, she saw Belinda getting out of the pool in a relatively conservative swimsuit. Wilson waited for her with a towel.

He wrapped it around her as soon as she got out. "Be careful not to catch a cold, Ms. Belinda."

Just the night before, he'd abandoned Ivory in a bathtub full of ice-cold water. He hadn't bothered asking whether she was fine. She'd developed signs of frostbite on her legs, yet he hadn't shown the slightest bit of concern or heartache.

Now, the sun hung high in the sky, and the pool wasn't even cold. Belinda had merely been in the water for a swim, yet Wilson was worried about her catching a cold.

Ivory clenched her fists and looked away. Then, she said loudly, "I accept the gift. Thank Mr. Fuller for me!"

The crowd was abuzz. Though the gift was covered by a red cloth, its size hinted at it being an expensive car.

"Ivy, hurry up and lift the cloth." Her best friend, Ginny Wright, was curious about the gift. She kept urging Ivory to unveil it.

Ivory didn't want to leave her hanging, so she stepped forward and yanked the cloth covering her "gift". The moment the cloth slipped off, a beast roared, making everyone gasp in fright.

Beneath the cloth wasn't the expensive car everyone anticipated. Instead, it was a gigantic cage with an adult male lion in it!

"What kind of gift is that? It's monstrous!"

"I've long heard about Simon Fuller being a psycho. I thought that was just a rumor, but it seems he's worse than I imagined!"

"How is this considered a gift for his fiancee? He's obviously trying to scare and threaten her!"

"I suddenly pity Ivory. What's life going to be like for her when she marries a freak like that?"

The crowd was abuzz as they looked at Ivory with pity. Meanwhile, Belinda approached with Wilson, blinking innocently as she asked, "What's happened? Why's there a huge lion here? Is this part of a circus act?"

The lion went berserk inside the cage at her words. There was no telling whether Simon had done this on purpose or whether the cage itself wasn't sturdy. After a brief struggle, the lion managed to ram the cage door open!

The crowd screamed and scattered. Wilson didn't even hesitate as he pounced on Belinda, protecting her with his body.

However, Ivory was the one who was closer to the cage.

The slap made Belinda's head spin, and blood trickled down the corner of her mouth. Still, the impact of the slap was nothing compared to the shock that ripped through her.She widened her eyes in disbelief. "What did you say? He's Mr. Quill, 'the monk'? Why would he work for our family as a steward, then? Is he insane?"The lead bodyguard didn't want to waste his breath on her. He kicked her in the knee, forcing her to kneel before Wilson and Ivory."Ms. Ivory, how do you want to deal with these people?" Wilson bowed slightly as he turned to Ivory, humbling himself before her. He was nothing like the ruthless king of the business world that he was. He seemed more like her private steward who would obey her every order.Still, Ivory remained indifferent and showed no hint of being moved. She said, "I won't forgive you, even if you get rid of them. I hold grudges very well—I won't ever forgive those who hurt me!"Wilson smiled at that. "If that's the case, I'll have to teach them a

After enduring the whipping, Wilson had completed his atonement. However, some people had yet to be punished for their crimes. Now, it was time to deal with them.Wilson brought Ivory back to the Stone residence. John and Nancy were stunned to see her. "What are you doing back here, Ivory? You've married Mr. Fuller, so you're his now. Does he know that you're here?"Before Ivory could answer, Belinda abruptly fell to her knees and started weeping. Through her tears, she said, "Mom, Dad, it's all my fault. Blame me for this if you want, but don't get mad at Ivy! I was the one who accidentally told Will about Ivy marrying Mr. Fuller. That's why he went to the Fuller residence to elope with Ivy!"It was true that Wilson had crashed Ivory and Simon's wedding. The reporters present had snapped many explosive photos of the incident, but they had not been published. Wilson and Simon had worked together to buy out all the images. And so, the outside world had no idea that Wilson had tried

"Damn, this Wilson guy is strong! How did he do it?""He snapped the lion's fangs off! Is he a monster?""I knew the most terrifying creatures on this planet were the terrifying upright apes—humans!"The crowd exploded once more. Amid deafening cheers, the beast fight drew to a close. Wilson was covered in wounds, but he'd won the fight. He'd used his willpower and resilience to prove his love for Ivory! In the end, he was carried out of the pit. Before leaving, he looked at Ivory tenderly, hoping to see a sliver of pity or affection in her eyes. He would be happy even if it were just the pity someone had for a stranger who'd been wounded.Unfortunately, there was nothing of the sort in her gaze. She only looked cold and indifferent.…Wilson was finally discharged from the hospital after a month. He'd soaked himself in ice water and had fought with a lion. Now, he only had one last thing to do before his atonement was complete—a whipping."I need to come clean to you about som

The arena with the fighting pit erupted in thunderous cheers. A host shouted excitedly into his microphone, "Tonight's show will be the most unprecedented fight in our arena's history! In the past, challengers have faced rhinos and wild boars…"But our challenger tonight will take on the king of the beasts—a lion! Let's give a round of applause for tonight's fighter, Wilson Quill!"The crowd went wild with deafening applause as the host's words fell. They cheered and roared with excitement."Wait, did I hear him correctly? Tonight's challenger is taking on a lion? Does he have a death wish?""This is a lion we're talking about. The king of beasts!""Man, I sure lucked out with tonight's fight! We're in for some excitement!"…"Wilson, have you lost your mind?" Though Ivory had guessed what Wilson was up to, she still couldn't stop her heart from leaping to her throat after hearing the host's announcement. "Do you think I'll forgive you if you do this? It won't happen! Everythi

With that, Wilson took off his clothes and got into the bathtub filled with water and ice. The cold sliced across his skin like sharp knives when his skin touched the water, going bone-deep.At the same time, the aphrodisiac he'd taken earlier took effect. He felt like there were thousands of ants gnawing away at every cell in his being and every inch of his bones, yet the frostiness of the water made him feel like he was trapped in a massive block of ice.But no matter how cold the water was, it couldn't extinguish the scorching, maddening heat blazing within him. Still, at least it helped him to maintain his rationality for the time being. He could still keep himself from doing things that he wasn't supposed to do to Ivory.Wilson looked up at her, his gaze filled with heartache. "So, this is how you felt that night. I get it now…"He deserved to go to hell for leaving her in such an agonizing state."Do you really think this will make me forgive you?" Ivory clenched her fists a

It turned out the look Wilson and Simon had exchanged during the wedding hadn't been a battle of wills. It had been an exchange of information. On the surface, Simon had rejected Wilson's demand. In truth, he'd laced his words with hidden meaning. After reading between the lines, one would understand that he meant that he didn't want to be humiliated in public. He would fight Wilson to the death if the latter dared snatch Ivory from under his nose. But if Wilson were willing to back down, Simon would hand Ivory over to him once the wedding was over.Anyone who could make a name for themselves in the business world had to be quick on their feet. Wilson had caught Simon's drift, so he'd changed his mind about ruining the wedding and had left. He knew he wouldn't benefit from continuing to cause a scene, anyway. The Fullers were powerful, so going head-to-head with them would only result in a lose-lose situation. Besides, Ivory was in Simon's hands. Even if Wilson were to wage war aga
