Chapter 8

Amelia's point of view:

After 3 hours of traveling, I finally made it back home. A sigh escaped my lips as I scanned the crowd, searching for my brother. Feeling both hungry and still sleepy, despite the plane nap, I couldn't shake off the fatigue.

"Well, look who it is," someone said, causing me to snap my head up.

"Ace!" I exclaimed loudly, rushing toward him. People gave us curious looks, especially at him, as he threw his hands out and stood with his legs wide, like a starfish.

As he spun us around, I giggled and said, "I missed you so much, Lia."

"Me too," I whispered back.

"Is this a new car?" I asked, eyes wide.

"Yep, I work now and have lots of money, girly. Also, guess what?" he said.

"What?" I asked eagerly.

"Do you have a baby? I don't think I'm ready to be an auntie," I mumbled with a sigh.

Ace rolled his eyes and showed me his fingers. A gasp left my lips when I saw the diamond ring.

"You're getting married?" I asked softly, jumping around.

"Oh my gosh, that's so amazing! When can I meet her? Wait, how did you guys meet?" I inquired.

"Well, when you left, her name is Angel. We both attended the same college, and now we're done. I want to marry her," he explained, grabbing my hand.

"Well, I'm happy for you, big bro," I said quietly.

"Thank you. And look at you, not fat and cute anymore," he said with a pout.

"Our uncle didn't give me a chance, 24/7 workout, dude. I felt so much pain," I replied with a sigh.

"But I guess it was worth it, right?" he asked.

Nodding, I put my things in the back seat and hopped into the car. Taking a deep breath, I ran my fingers over the car.

"When we get home, we can get you yours tomorrow if you want," Ace mumbled.

"For real?" I asked with wide eyes.

"Yep, Dad is going to spoil you, girl! He kept talking about all the things you guys are going to do together, not even including me," Ace grumbled with a frown.

Chuckling, I said, "Don't worry, we'll both have our time together before your wife takes you away from me."

Ace laughed and started the car.

The drive home took about an hour, revealing we had moved from our old apartment to a luxurious mansion.

I needed to ask Dad something question, I didn't want to believe that , they have gone back to working with the gangs and bikes again.

we left that life behind us, since Mom died.

"Wow, this is amazing," I mumbled, still staring at the house.

"Wait until you see mine," Ace said, making my head snap up.

"You have a house too? That's crazy, dude!" I exclaimed loudly with wide eyes.

He chuckled before shaking his head. "Come on, Sissy, Dad is waiting for you. I can't say 'us' because he is not waiting for me," Ace said.

Nodding, I hopped off his car, ensuring to close the door slowly. Opening the back door to grab my things, Ace helped me with some.

"Lia, can I ask you something?" Ace mumbled.

"Sup?" I asked with a smile.

"Are you still angry at your friends for what they did to you?" he asked softly.

Confused by the sudden question, I replied, "I'm not sure I'm angry at them anymore, but that doesn't mean I want to be friends with them. If I ever come across them, I'll mind my business."

"Why?" I asked with a frown when I noticed his frown.

"Ace, tell me, is something wrong?" I asked again.

He sighed before shaking his head. "I think Dad will tell you about it. I don't think I should," he said, walking away before I could say anything.

Watching him walk away, I couldn't help but sigh. Why do I have a feeling something bad is about to happen, something I might not like?

Shaking my head, I followed my brother, noticing bodyguards in black suits standing outside. It had only been two years; what changed?

"Ace, what's going on?" I asked softly.

He said nothing but continued walking in. Opening the door for me, I mumbled a little thank you before walking inside the house.

A gasp left my lips as I looked around my new, fancy house—everything screamed royalty and money. "Is that my daughter?" I heard my father's voice.

Turning my head, I saw my dad walking in with a walking stick in hand, looking slim and sick. "Papa, what happened?" was the first thing I asked.

He smiled before opening his arms. "Is this my hug?" he asked softly.

Rolling my eyes, I wrapped my arms around him,I placed a kiss on his head, then asked again, "What happened to you?"

"Come on, Amelia, you just came back. Go freshen up, then I'll tell you everything," he replied.

Tilting my head, I looked at him. He looked sick, really sick, but it seemed like he was healing, slowly.

"Okay," I replied softly before looking to where Ace stood, only to find him gone.

"I'm up here, girly," I heard him say.

Shaking my head, I walked toward the stairs, not before giving my dad a kiss on his cheeks. I couldn't help it—I am a Daddy's girl.

"Ace, please tell me what's going on," I mumbled as we walked down the hall.

"It's not my place to tell you, Sissy. Just get cleaned up, then come down and eat. Papa will tell you everything," he said softly, placing a kiss on my forehead.

I nodded slowly, still looking at him, as he pushed open a white door with my name designed on it.

A gasp left my lips as I looked around my new room. "You guys made it like a fairy tale room," I mumbled softly, still looking at it.

"Just the way you like it," was all my brother said.

"Now get ready and meet us downstairs, okay?" he asked and said.

Nodding my head, I whispered an okay, then watched him walk away.

but again, I couldn't help but think, My uncle didn't tell me anything about all this.

I continued staring at the room, it like I was living in a dream , a dream that was to good to be true.

and it scared me, shaking my head, I walked toward my closet, then dropped my bags down.

walking towards the toilet, another gasp left my lips at how beautiful it looked.

whatever my family is doing, or who they are working for must pay them alot.

shaking my head, Iay down on my bed, still thinking about all this
